Description

A resonator back provides more projection of sound in the Goodtime 2. It's made here in the USA, at the Deering shop with the same tooling used to make the top of the line banjos. Greg Deering designed the Goodtime banjos because there were no low priced banjos of enough quality for people to actually learn on without difficulty or giving up. He remembers what it was like to want a good banjo and not be able to afford one, so his gift to others is the Goodtime banjo line.

  • Amazing instrument
I'm totally in love with this banjo. It's easy to play, has a beautiful bright tone, and really resonates. The neck is thin compared to my old antique Gretch banjo, and is easy to fret. The only improvement I would have liked, would be, railroad spikes for the fifth string. All in all, this is an amazing instrument, which I'm surprised they classified as entry level. A plus, it's made in the USA. ... show more

  • Beautiful!
This banjo is beautiful! I was excited to get it but I was more excited when I had first saw it. I was unsure of the blonde maple but it has grown on me. I bought it used so I may not have received the things that comes in a new box. The only problem I have was that the banjo was not placed in it's protective covering. They shipped it, just not covering the banjo. Makes no sense. I would recommend this product to anyone. The price is a bit steep so buy used! Most importantly is that it's made in the good ol' USA. Deering makes a good product! ... show more

  • Perfect intro level banjo.
Not much to say here that hasn't already been said, but in short, this is the best banjo to start with. You could get a really cheap Japanese banjo to start, but they won't sound like anything you'd really want to play. This banjo has great tone, will last a lifetime, and is even good enough to be used in concerts. The quality for the price is unbeatable. ... show more

  • good product for the money
First of all the banjo is very loud. Unexpectedly loud. I had to remove the resonator and place a couple of rags in the inner chamber to quite the sound a little. However, I had to do that with my other banjo which I had for forty years. The quality of the banjo is very good however, when one plays a banjo that weighs 14 pounds and then purchases one that weighs 6 pounds adjustments have to be made. I'm having problems with the neck weighing more than the head thus the banjo continuously wants to rotate to the heavy end taking it out of position. I have tried to correct the problem with a instrument strap but that has not worked. I keep adjusting it trying to find a solution without success. I like the instrument I just have to find out how to keep it steady. Let me add that I am not a good banjo player even though I have tried for forty years. That might be part of the problem as well. ... show more

  • This is an awesome banjo!
I've been playing banjo for about two years and I had a really heavy banjo that I picked up used. Has a nice sound but, dang she was heavy. I've been wanting a Deering for quite some time and finally just said, I ain't gonna take this money to the grave, but I sure might have this Deering banjo buried with me! I really like it and I'm sounding better, crisper. I can't put it down. Wife gettin a little tired of it though. ... show more

  • BUY IT! BUY IT AGAIN!
This is a fantastic banjo! I LOVE IT! It sounds wonderful. The tone is very crisp and warm. The banjo is very well constructed, the neck is extremely smooth and it doesn't take much pressure to fret the strings.

  • great instrument
Even better than I expected. It's a bit of a short scale but it sounds terrific, it came set up perfectly so I didn't have to adjust anything. I love the look and the tone. Definitely gig worthy.

  • Deering Banjo excellent musical instrument.
this Banjo was recommended by my music teacher. It's well made and the great thing about this one. Is it is made in the USA. Great. also it has a 6 year warranty. also sounds really good. The manufacturer is in California. Good price through Amazon. The retail in a store for a very good Banjo is more than what I paid. Check out Deering on the web, and you will find really good reviews from the company that makes Banjos.. It came already put together. All I had to do was tune it. arrived in very good condition with no flaws. What more can I say. ... show more
