  • Caramel is the best value you could ever get in a Ukulele!! Extremely high quality!
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
I have about 20 Concert ukes ranging from $99 to $700. Most of those needed fret/ nut/bridge adjustment for decent playability. Out of all my Concert ukes, I have 3 Caramel solid woods and they are by far my favorite. So I decided to try their line of Tenor ukes since Concert necks are a bit tight and chords like the "D" chord are hard to make with all 3 fingers together on one fret. I ordered all 3 of their solid woods, the Acacia, Mango and Mahogany. The Acacia came today. It arrived in FLAWLESS condition. I can confirm it is SOLID wood! Do not confuse it with the laminate, that is a different model number, (CT207). I went over it with the fret rocker, every fret near dead even with no rocking except the slightest bit on 2 frets, but not enough to need fixing. I then tested nut height and was shocked at the PERFECT height! Most ukes I have ever bought required me to remove the nut and sand it down so the strings pass the fret press test. This might be the first uke I didn't have to adjust the nut! Bridge height was good so I also left that alone. I'm absolutely shocked that a $119 SOLID Acacia electric/acoustic uke with built in tuner and EQ is set up so perfect, there's nothing to do to it! The pitch also stays consistent up the fret board. Some notes go slightly flat but very slightly. New strings might fix that anyway. Even with the stock strings, you can hear the warmth of the solid wood resonate when you play. I can only play solid wood ukes anymore as the few laminates I have sound plasticky and plinky by comparison. As far as quality of finish of this uke, the frets are clean and smooth, no excess glue, all edges are clean, flawless satin finish....just wow! All I did was oil the fret board and when my Worth Brown strings come in, I will put them on. But the flourocarbon strings that came on it are not bad at all. But if you ever heard Worth Brown strings, there is nothing that comes close to them! I cannot recommend Caramel ukes highly enough! They could easily pass for a $400-$500 premium uke. The value you get here is mind boggling. I'd also like to add I have several ukes with different style of piezo pickups, and the Caramels are also by far my favorite style! They use the best and most efficient piezos that really project. Ironically with all my Concert ukes, I am now a fan of Tenor size as the fretboard is so much easier to manage especially with chords that require tight finger clustering. I wish I tried Tenors sooner. Of all the brands I am the biggest fan of Caramel. What they produce is amazing quality and when you figure in how inexpensive they are, it doesn't even seem possible, but it is. The built in tuner and EQ is just icing on the cake! I'd recommend these first over any other brand unless you want to start spending $2,000. I'm not kidding! ... show more

  • Great Uke for the Money
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
As most reviewers have said, this ukulele is a great value for the money. To get a solid wood ukulele for $119 is unheard of. I'm a uke nerd and have at least a dozen ukuleles from inexpensive to insanely expensive. I was impressed with the quality of the build for the money. The accessories are a nice touch, especially if you're new to ukes. The gig bag will prevent scratches, but don't expect it to protect the uke from a fall or bad handling. Out of the box, the sound was good. The projection and sustain were less than I'm used to, so I changed the strings to a set of low-G Uke Logics and the change was amazing. Much louder and great sustain across all strings. The low G sounds good with the exaggerated tenor body design. Plugged it into my amp with no effects and it presents a good representative acoustic uke sound. Overall, excellent ukulele for a beginner, good basic uke for a more experienced player - and it won't break the bank. Great job by the Carmel folks. ... show more

  • Pretty nice, but fret finish not done well Pretty nice, but fret finish not done well
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
This is a nice uke....and it should be for $120 as there are cheaper offerings on Amazon. That being said, my only negative feedback is the fret finish isn't smooth and perfect as I expect from Caramel. I'll have to file the frets so the playability of this uke improves and I can enjoy it without the distraction of my fingers get abraded on the fret ends. So, while I can correct it, Caramel should've done this in their factory before shipping it. Caramel, your quality game can be upped in this area....and should be. In all fairness, I have two other Caramel ukes (Ebony wood and Zerbrawood) and the frets are perfectly finished so I've come to expect this from Caramel. Looking past the unimpressive fret finish, everything else about this uke is nice. It plays well, it has good sound, it sounds even cooler if you plug it in and add some effects. It comes with a decent gig bag, spare strings, a strap, etc. (see the pic). This uke is pretty comprehensive and actually kind of awesome (if they'd just done quality work on the frets). If Caramel can get their fret game together, though, I'd say this uke would be hard to beat....especially at $120. ... show more

  • UKE Got To Be Kidding. WOW
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
I am new to the world of Ukelele, but I have been playing guitar for more than 30 years. Only 3 weeks ago I decided I wanted to learn to play Ukulele. I devoured the internet and youtube wanting to know as much as possible about my upcoming purchase. I decided to go with the Flight, Victoria as my very first Uke. It is by no means a cheap Ukulele for a start-up but I wanted a good first-hand experience with the instrument. I was quite happy with the purchase UNTIL A few days ago I saw the Caramel tenor, all solid Acacia, on Amazon, at a price that was a quarter of the Flight Victoria. I purchased it and received it yesterday and I had to write this review. Upon opening the Caramel box, I couldn't believe how beautiful the Ukulele is. I could really see the care and love that went into making this Uke. It is presented with Pride. This is a perfect Uke to learn on but it's an absolute keeper as well. I'm learning that many Ukes are quite overpriced and overrated. The Caramel, in my opinion is totally underrated. It's a good step above the Flight Victoria, which gets very favorable reviews by the online reviewers. Is it possible these reviewers don't know about the Caramel? I guess in some cases these are stores who only review what they carry. I've decided to make the Caramel my main Uke and the Flight my "other" Uke. This is no knock on the Flight Victoria I was happy with the purchase but happier that I discovered the Caramel at an amazing price and a step up in sound. I'm certain that I will likely upgrade again but I will always hang on to the Caramel. The Caramel CT204 is a MUST HAVE if you are starting off and want to have a really nice experience with an instrument. It has a pickup, onboard tuner and comes with many accessories and a nice pouch to carry them in. Kudos to the folks at Caramel for making it possible to have such a nice instrument at an incredible price. I hope more and more Ukulele lovers and those interested in learning to play this wonderful instrument will discover you as well. I'm going to give the Caramel Baritone a try next. ... show more

  • Fantastic Ukulele. I totally love it.
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
I was really skeptical buying a musical instrument online, and a brand I’ve never seen in a music store. But I love this ukulele. The tone is fantastic and the acacia wood is beautiful. It plays so nicely and the neck is nice and wide for big fingers. Very much plays like a nylon string classical guitar. It came already mostly in tune and with the built in tuner was easy to get and keep in tune. I have three ukuleles and this one is now my go to. Next Ukulele will be a Caramel baritone to complete my collection. ... show more

  • Great value for a decent uke!
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
A nice basic tenor ukulele with all-solid acacia for this price? Hel-yea! Just know you’re not getting a Kamaka and let go of expectations for a dream ukulele - just be content that this is comfy to play, has an onboard pickup and tuner and will like warm up with time. I use it on the job as a singing chaplain and don’t worry if it gets bumped or bruised. Medium sound and tone. Aloha and God bless! ... show more

  • Pleasantly Surprised!! Yeah, it's Pretty Awesome! Pleasantly Surprised!! Yeah, it's Pretty Awesome!
Color: All Solid Acacia Electric Tenor
To be honest I wasn't expecting much based on Got ukelele Reviews on YouTube BUT there seemed to be folks out there who genuinely LOVED their Caramel ukuleles. So, after wrestling on which model to choose I went with the Acacia Tenor Ukulele (no gloss). Well, my expectations were low and you can imagine my dismay when the Amazon left a box on my doorstep that looked like it exploded during transit. Fortunately, the actual ukulele box was in good shape. Upon opening I was greeted by a BEAUTIFUL Ukelele in perfect condition. There were no flaws, beautiful grain, everything worked, the frets were all smooth. The fret board needed a little oiling but that was it. This tenor ukulele plays just as well as my more pricy ukes in my collection. I'll definitely be adding more Caramel Ukeleles to my collection! ... show more
