I've been using JFM products for about a decade & this is one of their best! The color is very natural & shows no orange, even under sunlight. The only drawbacks are that it: doesn't last as long as their standard two-part dye, it doesn't like to cover the tough grays at my sideburns/temples & the tubes don't go as far as their original formula. Those points noted, its basically idiot proof & gives almost perfect results. If they could only make it a bit more permanent & able to cover the tough spots it would be perfect. ... show more

I’m not one who normally dyes their hair but at 51 y/o and being 100% GRAY haired, I decided to give it a try after my kids told me my hair was looking “blue”. That made me feel VERY old. So I looked at options, I didn’t want ONVIOUS dyed hair color and since I’m a natural blonde, I went with this. It was easy to use, I did it while getting ready for work one morning, you just comb it in with the applicator. I also did my eyebrows, mustache and beard. Color turned out great! First off I am a natural blonde I used this product on my eyebrows and left it on for 10 minutes and washed off, My eyebrows are not any darker (There is no change after.) Can anyone help me?

    • Flawed Applicator Design but Decent Product

This stuff does work, but it takes a lot of WORK to make it work properly. First off, don't rely on the brush that is included in the box. It's a garbage applicator and because the bristles on it are thick plastic, they don't bend to paint the product onto your hair. Instead, it just pulls the product away from the roots where you're hoping to color or completely off your stubborn beard bristles, ultimately insuring you'll have to use more. Instead, drop a few bucks on a cheap tinting brush, and use that instead. Start by simply squeezing a dollop of dye onto a safe surface (I used a flat plastic sandwich bag) dip your tinting brush into the dye, and go from there. There were various degrees of "end result" shading in the customer/product pictures that are included on this thread, and that is due to the faulty and useless design of the brush as well. When you squeeze the product into the brush prior to application, the contents within the tube don't really mix until you run it through your hair. This causes extreme color discrepancies with the ratio of dark and light components of the dye not being blended together properly. To offset this, once you have your dye dollop out of the tube, give it a good mixing. You can use the pointed end of your tinting brush. You will see almost instantly a shift in color. I don't know how exactly to create a true perfect color balance, it's a bit of an experiment, but it can be done. You just have to play around with it, sometimes adding a little more product to your dollop. This product has a shelf life of about ten minutes, so make sure that as soon as the product is out of the tube and mixing with the oxygen in the air, you're mixing quickly. When painting it on, try to use the tinting brush to apply as evenly as possible, using a light hand. You can aways go back and repeat this process to darken hair more, but you can't work it in reverse. I would highly suggest doing a test run on a small strand of root hair to estimate the leave in time. For super light blonde hair undergrowth like mine, a full projected run as suggested on the box will probably be too long, leaving you on the darker side. Work that smaller strand first to clock the time that best works for your hair color, and then repeat for the entire desired area once that calculation has been set. Start with 3-4 minutes and add time accordingly. If the first 4 minute run was to light and you ran it again for an additional 3 minutes and it looks good, factor in total time when you start everything. So you'd be looking at a total of 6-7 minutes. A little goes a long way, so avoid clumping and caking product on your hair. Lather, rinse, and repeat as needed. Like I said, this product does work, but I think that it would be a rare occasion to achieve the exact results that you are looking for straight out of the box, and following the product instructions to a t. I love these things. I buy them by the boat load. I'm 65 and my hair has never been pointed out as dyed. I also buy the lightest coloring which helps the transition to grey that I keep on the sides of my hairline to enhance realism.
