If you color at home, this is the one. Idk why more people don’t make foam color or why I’m just now learning about it, but I am SO glad I did. I have very little experience coloring my own hair and this is soo much easier than the regular stuff. Plus I had more left over than I ever do with the other so if you have thicker or longer hair depending, one box is enough to completely saturate your hair. Mine is probably 4-5 inches past my shoulders and semi thin to give you a reference. The color came out just as I expected and didn't come out with that brassy tint you can sometimes get. I guess that all depends on your color but I always have to use my purple toning shampoo or conditioner after box dye but I did not with this one. Might not be the cheapest option available but still very reasonable and for the ease and quality, just get it. Oh and the conditioner that comes with it, omg smells so good! ... show more

This is my favorite hair dye. It was hard to find for awhile. I love it because it doesn't require as much work for me when putting it in. With having to basically separate and saturate every strand. The foam really helps with cutting the time down and makes it very easy to do yourself. Which is what I do. Some people have people to help them with the back where they can't see. I don't. And I just want to get done with it ASAP! Hair dying is a time waster especially when you need to dye again in another 4 weeks. Yes, for me that's what it is. My grays are very persistent. I used 4PBN in the photo. My Hair before was faded to reddish medium sorta dark brown and I was over it. My goal was always a perfect neutral dark brown but in my experience in the past whether I went to the salon or if I did color on my own it always ended up a dark red brown or just jet black. This color gave me the dark brown I wanted and the cool tones really muted all the red that I had I’m honestly shocked that it worked this good and didn’t turn my hair black. Cleanup was easy, no harsh stains, no pungent smell, application was a breeze. Almost too good to be true. The ONLY thing that didn’t work was it didn’t color my roots which was strange to me because my natural growth is a very light brown, so I have to go get those done. ... show more

I love this brand of hair colour, and I have been using it for years, because of how shiny it makes my hair [Sorry for the olde photo that shows my hair BEFORE I dyed it]. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS KIT IS: ▪︎I leave my workspace while using it much less messy because the foam is so spill/splatter proof, as opposed to a liquid dye of other brands. If I do get a random spot of the dye anywhere, I just use a spot of Dawn on it asap and then no worries. ▪︎I've got long hair, so I use the entire contents, and I've got some noticeable grey hair, so I leave it on for the full 30 min. that the instructions say to. ▪︎After you have applied the foam, be sure to not skip lathering all of it up close on your scalp with your hands and fingers as well as the lengths of your hair, this way, you get full and uniform coverage and you've got a better chance of leaving no obvious undyed patches. Super important ! ▪︎It also has no strong chemical odor that can potentially cause you to tip over into an unconscious coma. ▪︎If it's your 1st time using it, the foam will not dispense from the bottle if you try to depress the black nozzle on the top of the bottle. You have got to very SLOWLY and SOFTLY turn the bottle upside down and then right side up for no more than 5 times. No fast, vigorous shaking of the bottle. That may be why some women are getting just liquid instead of the foam, IDK. Direct that question to John Frieda's cust. service. ▪︎Squeeze the MIDDLE of the see•through part of the bottle in order to render the foam. So NO fast, vigorous shaking and squeeze it from the CENTRE of the see through bottle, just like the instructions explain. ▪︎As long as you follow the instructions, you'll be fine. The shine payoff of this brand is what puts it above and beyond other home colouring kits. If you do not get the shine payoff after using it, maybe a previous process/product that is still in your hair is not letting the dye absorb uniformly or treat your hair evenly ? IDK, ASK YOUR HAIR STYLIST. ▪︎For my own hair, the shine does not remain in my hair for the full 6-8 weeks that the colour lasts, but it does leave my hair shiny for atleast 3-4 weeks. ▪︎Don't forget to use the after care conditioning tube, immediately after dying and then once a week for maintenance. I trust this vendor to get things right, and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again ! I hope anyone reading this will get the same experience as I do ! ... show more

I didn’t find this any less messy than regular box colors. Application was easy except for the gloves. I would pay a little more for gloves that weren’t so big that they kept falling off. The color turned out good. I didn’t notice any more shine than usual. It’s not a bad product, but it’s not the best hair color I’ve used either. I’ll stick with Maddison Reed. ... show more
