Works exactly as expected. My use case was a portable doorbell that I could tape temporarily to the door of a public building for a weekly event. I intentionally bought this model because it looks cheap, so it would be less likely to be stolen. Well, it got stolen a few months later when I forgot to retrieve it one time. The build feels rather cheap, but it works just fine. I didn't get a chance to test how weatherproof it was, but it can definitely handle some mild rain. Being battery-less seems like a great advantage on paper, but I don't know if it really is that much better than a standard, cheaper battery-powered bell. The design of the main body (that plugs into the outlet) has some annoying issues. It has three buttons - and it's not particularly obvious what they do from their icons. More importantly, it's easy to accidentally press one of them when plugging it in, since that's where my thumb naturally goes when I hold it. I would greatly prefer top- or front-facing buttons for this reason, as well as for generally visibility. Anyway, if you press the silence button and didn't realize... that sucks. If you press the volume button, it's okay. If you press the tone button, then you have to cycle through dozens of annoying tones to get back to the one you want. I didn't actually count how many, but it felt like it was around 20, even though the product is marketed as 50. The default bell tone is a "DING DONG... DING DONG..." that lasts about 4 seconds, whereas a lot of the other ones are like half a minute long, which is not appropriate at all when you're in a classroom as in my case. The volume has a good dynamic range spanning 4 volume levels. I didn't measure it of course, but the "30, 50, 80, 110 dB" on the product page sounds reasonable. The softest one is perfect when you're stationed a few feet away from the bell and don't want to disturb others, and the loudest one can cut quite a few feet through loud music.
