  • Great value
This set is an amazing value. Very happy with how these sound, stage, and image. I've been an audiophile for 30 years and don't give recommendations lightly. Unless you get a deal in the used market, you'd be hard pressed to find better at this price point. Somewhat U shaped sounding but are opening up nicely as they break in. Full and rich. If you listen to jazz, rock or classical. You probably don't need a sub. Bass heavy music, a different story. But these get pretty low and manage to stay in control. Oh and they look like much more expensive speakers. Originally got these for my girl, but I'm keeping the 803s for myself....:) ... show more

  • Excellent Sound Quality and Value
I consider myself a “budget” audiophile, and for the money spent here, I can’t imagine getting a better sound. Sure, they don’t come with a subwoofer, or the Atmos modules but it’s still excellent value. I ordered the white ones which arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. I separately ordered the Atmos modules from another vendor. By mistake, the seller on Amazon sent me a 8” Jamo subwoofer instead of the 5.0 speaker kit at first but Amazon shipped out the correct speakers the following day after I inquired. Even though I had planned to use a larger subwoofer, I decided to try the Jamo subwoofer since it was a free return anyway. In the small man-cave I have this system setup in, I’m more than happy with the overall performance of the entire system and will be contacting Amazon again to arrange keeping the subwoofer. One thing to note is that I originally intended to use this system to replace my Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers in our living room but these Jamo speakers did not sound as good on the Pioneer Elite receiver. Once I moved them into my man-cave and connected them to my smaller Marantz, they sounded much better. These speakers do have a v-curve frequency range which is not my preference but with movies, powered by my Marantz receiver, they do sound great. I’m very happy with them, especially considering I’m all in on 8 great sounding speakers for under $500. ... show more

  • Sounds great, looks great (unless you are close up)
Update: I reached out to Klipsch support, after registering on the Jamo website. I figured that after almost a year, they wouldn't likely be helpful. I was wrong! They are shipping me replacements for each of the ones with issues, and a return label for the ones with bubbles showing. Very happy with the service. Original review: This set sounds great, I really like it. Set that center channel right under the TV, and use the receiver to crank the center a little higher than the other speakers, and you will have better dialogue on most movies. They are crisp and clear when loud, instead of thin and grating with the treble. The entire body is some kind of laminate. Most of my speakers have a TON of bubbling all over the body. It is really annoying that they all look so junky up close, because from further back (and up close when new) they look great. It was several months before the bubbles showed up, it was not right away. I'm just under a year, right now. Going to try a warranty claim on them, and see what the company can do. Not sure if they will do anything, but it's worth a shot. ... show more

  • Wife approved! They sound as good as they look. Excellent work Jamo!
Let me start by saying that I don't consider myself an audiophile. I'm just a guy who can tell the difference between this speaker and that one. My Andrew Jones Pioneers were darn good especially for the price. People described them as warm and neutral sounding. Yeah, I agree with that. Along the way I picked up some JBL Loft 40's for my desk. They had a really good amount of low end for their size, and they too sounded warm. In fact I'd dare to say they sound a lot like the Pioneer's. Now onto the fun stuff. These little beauties sound as good as they look. I ran them without a sub and holy wow was I impressed at the amount of bass that the S803's were pumping out. They sound clean, and it sounds stupid but i felt as if the music and movies that I tested really jumped out at me, as if the speakers were closer than they really were. I liked it. The center and the surrounds are matched and good for HT, but they lack low end. Thankfully we all own subs (if you don't you should really pause right here and focus on that first. Also, SVS. You're welcome). At this point I've seen all of the reviews on the internet and I'm going to side with Z reviews. He nailed it. Sure, there might be trickery at work here with how good these sound, but I don't really care. My ears are over the moon. In the pictures you can see the S801 is around the same size as the JBL Loft 40. The S803's are quite a bit larger in every dimension. You'll also notice the add on ATM 8 atmos module. Those weren't included in this set, I was just trying to show how they all look together (they're also a must buy IMO, but this review isn't about them). I'm in the middle of moving so I put the center and surrounds back in the box. For now I'm going to spoil myself with the front LR+heights only. For the price of this set you're not going to find better speakers. ... show more

  • Good speakers - GREAT Value!
I bought this speaker package as a way to get two sets of small speakers at a low price. Out of the box all the speakers look great; no blemishes or defects. In my 10x10 office both the S803 and the S8o1 sound really good! I powered them with a 1990s era Technics 100wpc receiver and a small Nobsound class D amp. I then moved them to my 19'x25' den and powered them with an Emotive A300 (150wpc) amp and Yamaha AVR. The Jamos are not up to the task of filling a large space at anything near enjoyable levels. So, I've connected all five speakers back to the Technics and having a blast listening to tunes in the very retro Dolby Pro Logic mode! These are good speakers and at $147 for a 5.0 set the value is undeniable. Great starter set for a small room! Get'em before they're gone :) ... show more
