We use the trash can as a compost bin, where all the food waste and paper go. We got compostable trash bags along with this so that I can just throw the bag onto our compost pile when it's full. I love this product for this purpose because I used to have to open our little compost pail with hands as I was cooking, which made me have to wash hands again and again. Now I just have to walk up to the trash can and put my hand near the lid to open it. The lid keeps food waste inaccessible from our cats and it doesn't smell neither. Also, the big size and convenience of automatic lid encourage us to compost everything compostable including packaging boxes made with paper, paper towels, etc. which used to go to our landfill trash can when we were using our small compost pail. ... show more

Trash can works as described. Previous iTouchless trashcan lasted 9 years before sensor failed. Decided to buy new trashcan rather than replace sensor. This one works perfectly. Decided to purchase AC adapter rather than use the 6 "C" batteries as required. Purchased iTouchless adapter as generic adapter did not fit. ... show more

Why sell this separate from the device it's designed to power? The device I purchased is useless without power therefor forces me to purchase either this device or batteries. I recommend maintaining this as an optional purchase product, but also include one with your purchase of the main products that this is designed to work for. Even if you increase the price of the main product to compensate for the difference, the product is worth purchasing. ... show more

I bought the adapter for my motion sensor trash can it is well made and worked just fine I do recommend I rather have an adapter instead of having to put new batteries in constantly
