We owned one of the itouchless trash can years ago and really liked it so when were looking again we decided to go with this one. We ordered it 5 months ago and it worked great. Recently the top stopped working properly. We thought it might be batteries and so we ordered a wall plug. When that didn't help I called the customer service number. They were extremely polite and helpful. They asked me a few questions had me turn it off and on and test it. Within minutes the representative told me that it was broken based on how it was responding and had a new top sent to me in the mail.

This is the 3rd iTouchless garbage container I have had. The semi-round seems to be more versatile than the square shape in the amount it holds and getting the full bag out of the container. The motion sensor is great for messy hands and toddlers who think it’s fun to throw away garbage. Another plus is that the dogs aren't attracted the smells or to clean smears left on the outside of lids like other types of wastebaskets. The price may be a deterrent for some, but I was able to use prime points and it was on sale. Definitely worth the cost for me.

Has worked well right out of the box. Not terribly sure the odor control is all that good as it smells like usual to me. Good motion detection and the lid stays open long enough for most any disposal.

I was really worried by all of the horrible reviews, but decided to go ahead and order the itouchless with the wide opening rim. My first itouchless came in and I was a little worried about the peel on label on the top of the lid (looked a little cheap). So, I put batteries in, green light, red light, dead.. Plugged in a cord, same response. NEVER WORKED. I was so disappointed! However, Amazon made the return so easy. Order a replacement or get a refund? I ordered a replacement and this one works GREAT! It is a little sensitive and will open when you walk by too closely, but hey, it works! If the kitchen is a super high traffic area (like in most of our homes), it's best to put to the side as far away as possible, or just remember not to get too close when walking by. You can also cut it off if it works on your nerves. Nonetheless, I'm glad I opted for a replacement. Although I'm holding on to the box for a little while just to be on the safe side... Oh, 1 more thing. The video shows it stays open for 3 seconds and can sense if you're still there and stays open... Not so much. It will still try to close on you, but that's ok. As long as it works and opens when I need for it to.

This thing is an absolute, unmitigated pile of trash. I purchased it because I bought a non-lidded, simple trash can from this company that.. well it's a trash can. However we got a kitten who is a small demon and insists on actually diving into trash cans to get things to eat, so needed to get one with a lid. Bought this because it was on HEAVY discount when I was looking, and assumed it would have some base line functionality. It doesn't. The thing activates when you are walking by 3 feet away (sometimes) but won't open when you wave your hand over it at LEAST a 3rd of the time. And I'm not talking needs a second wave. You could wave ten times, touch your hand over the sensor, touch and leave your hand over the sensor, punch it, sacrifice a chicken, doesn't matter. Obstinate piece of... won't open, and you'll have to grab the lid and lift it manually. It's actually worse than having a foot lever for the lid or even just always having to lift it. I would pack this thing into my car and taking the time to do an amazon return at kohl's but it's the holidays and I am not that big of a masochist, so I am THROWING AWAY the top portion and relegating the steel bin to garage duty. The last thing I feel the need to mention is I did not give 1 star for "easy to clean" out of pettiness, but because I don't think you get any points for a STAINLESS STEEL trashcan not being hard to clean.

Arrived quickly in excellent condition. Nice shape for against a wall. Really fills 13 gallon bags. Motion sensor works excellent. Does not open inadvertantly when you are doing other tasks near the can. Nice match to my frig and dishwater. Has ability to add optional dc power supply. So far this week we open it about 25 times per day. Only thing I'd like to see are some finger holds on the cover to grasp for removal. Very happy!

I didn't want to leave a review until I've used the item for at least 2 months. After 2 months I am in disbelief of what an excellent product this is. The batteries are still good, the motion detection is on point and the garbage can looks classy. I purchased this for the pet room (where our toy poodle uses the pee pads) so it's constantly being used. I originally visited Bed Bath & Beyond but their simple human cans with motion sensors were over $200! I am beyond happy with my purchase! The only negative, which I don't think is there fault, is the odor control feature is useless for my pet waste - I just removed it. That being said, I don't think there is anything that would remove the odor of pet waste. It DOES CONTROL THE ODOR WHEN CLOSED but once the can opens ugghhhh! That's not the fault of the can but just the natural smell of poop! :) P.S. I use regular 13 gallon kitchen bags which are cheaper in bulk and they fit

The touchless lid stopped working correctly in less than 2 years. I reread all the recommendations, put new batteries in twice...all to no avail. It was in a place in my kitchen where there were no nearby outlets so I couldn't plug it in; I don't think that would have helped anyway. My brother was visiting recently and he's pretty handy but he couldn't make it work either. Ugh...I really liked this trashcan at first...it looks great and is sturdy. SO, I bought a sturdy, slim, black plastic garbage can with a foot pedal from Amazon for less than half the price and this one has been relegated to the garage, topless, to hold dryer lint and whatever else.
