    • Wanted to like it, but poorly designed and flaky in use.

I did a lot of research on this type of product and the DiskAshur Pro 2 "appeared" to be a good design. That is, until I started using it. Thankfully, Amazon provides an excellent and easy method to complete a product return (which I did today). This DiskAshur product is an exasperation of blinking lights and an unpredictable keyboard (in terms of keystroke timing). It is one of the flakiest devices that I’ve encountered with encrypted products. It is overly complex to use because of the way they designed the User input and controls. So, save yourself the frustration and pick another (more dependable) solution. I would never use this product in business. The process to complete standard and non-std things with this product is a complicated mess of having to watch which lights will blink combined with keyboard entry that is not tactilely dependable. I have 43 years’ experience in complex mainframe computing (working with encrypted data) and this product is not a reliable choice. Just read the full manual (not the quick-start guide) and you'll see what I'm talking about. In today's world of advanced programming and hardware, you will quickly feel like you went back into the "stone age" following the various steps to use this product. I genuinely wanted to like it and spent the better part of a day working with it. Finally had to admit that no amount of effort would overcome the flaws in the design. It is supposed to be rock-hard at preventing intrusion. The problem is that the folks at "iStorage" forgot that a legitimate User needs to reliably get into the product. They made it way too difficult given the product's intermittent ability to complete User functions. For me, that made this product untrustworthy as well. ... show more

This drive is fast and easy to use (after you practice the unlock process). I measured a write speed of 180 to 280 MB/s depending on the file size and 1.2 to 1.4 GB/s read speed.
