This is the perfect flying camera. I use that term because this little device is easy to carry, lightweight and a breeze to use. I bought this for my wife and her hikes. I hike alone a few times a week, so I got this lil guy to chronicle some of my adventures (since phone pics don't do the hikes justice). My very first time using the Hover, I realized I'd accidentally left my phone at home - but the great thing about this drone is that you don't need your phone at all to actually fly it. Obviously, if you have your phone with you, you can tweak settings, but operating the drone itself happens independently of any other device. I've flown it a bunch now, and here are my impressions: Positives: - Ease of Use (literally one-button operation) - Size (I carry it in my back pocket) - Predictable (it does what it's supposed to do) - Ease of Setup (incredibly quick and intuitive through the companion app) - Video Quality (Excellent) Negatives: - Short Battery Life (definitely get extra swappable batteries) - Power (can't fly in anything more than a stiff breeze - if the wind is strong enough to move your hair, this thing probably won't be able to fly in it) - No "Return to Home" Feature (if the drone encounters an obstacle or can't overcome the wind, it just lands wherever it is, no matter if that's at the bottom of a cliff or in a tree). This is an amazing drone. You can use the programmed functions or use your phone and guide it that way. It is very light and folds into the case perfectly. Easy to use and works amazingly well. Very stable for as light as it is. The pictures are so clear it is as if it is not moving at all. I learned the hard way that it does not work over water. It told me not to do it but I tried it anyway. It ended up getting wet but I sent it in to the Hover people to see if it could be fixed. They said once it is in water they cannot fix it but they amazingly refunded $350 even though it was my fault and I was able to order another one for the same amount. More than fair. Excellent customer service as they kept checking with me to see if there was anything I needed. I couldn't believe they refunded that much money as I paid $500 for it. Excellent product as long as you don't fly it over water. Great customer service. And mostly, it's fun! ... show more

This gadget is amazing. I am a techie type person who has had several drones in the past. This is an entirely different device. Typical drones require finicky setup, a controller and skill to operate. This is a one button personal photographer which requires no flying skills, it does it all on it's own. Just press a button and it launches safely and gently from your hand then follows you around. Stick your hand out and it lands on it. And wow is it durable. I have already crashed mine several times (it has no obstacle avoidance) and it has come out unscathed. One time it hit limbs on a tree as it was following me down a hill on my mountain bike. It smashed to the ground and rolled about 20 feet. Check out the video! I picked it up, pressed go and it went on like nothing happened. A must buy! ... show more

I am very impressed with my Hover air X one drone! I previously had another drone, but it failed to impress as it was very detailed and very picky with connections. This is very easy to use just like I’ve seen all the videos on YouTube say and they’re not lying. What is really cool is it is very user-friendly and God forbid the thought that the company that created this goes out of business you’re still able to use the drone without a phone or app as the settings can be set on the drone itself. I’ve got to add that Customer Support was great as I heard back from Customer Support tech-support actually within less than 24 hours and that a repeat in the next 24 is asking about compressing video size. So overall very impressed. Every product has its limitations and this drone is no exception but the positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion. This is the drone you’ve been waiting for if you have been looking for a drone without all the hassle. UPDATE 3/28/24 my drone began having a hardware issue as it couldn’t see me to initiate flight. I contacted the seller and received a prompt response which offered to help in any way. After a few series of emails and after having taken a video to show what was happening, the seller was very proactive! It was determined that that this was an unusual hardware issue. They overnighted a replacement drone with an extra battery! Very very pleased with the level of customer service that I received from Jane, I would again highly recommend this drone. They also, very generously, offered to replace the drone at no cost to try again. New Rating: 1* - Drone use around water 4* - Ease of use 5* - Customer service Was really impressed with the ease of use and picture quality, until… Yesterday while out with a group we thought it’d be cool to get a lakeside shot, so I set it to Rocket. 50’ straight up and back. On its way down it stopped a few feet over me, turned and took off over the lake. I chased as long as I could but it was going way too fast about 4’ off the water. $400 just flew away for no reason, guess it was too good to be true 🤷🏻♂️ ... show more

This little drone is one of the most fun travel gadgets I've purchased. What impressed me most is how easy it is to use. You don't need to be an experienced drone pilot to get great footage. The follow-me and self-flying modes do most of the work for you. I used it on walks, at parks, and while traveling, and it captured angles that would have been impossible with a regular phone or selfie stick. The automatic tracking works surprisingly well, and the footage looks smooth and professional. I also love how compact and foldable it is. It fits easily into a backpack without taking up much space, which means I'm much more likely to bring it along than a larger drone. For anyone who wants unique photos and videos without dealing with a complicated drone setup, this is a fantastic option.
