Main reason for purchasing this unit was online reviews, low waste ratio and low profile. I previously had a tank Northstar RO. Similar cost on filters; will have to wait and see how long filters last on this unit. Pros: Customer service - installed pretty quickly since we had an existing under sink unit. However, it leaked. Called the company directly and NICK gave me the option to send a new filter or a new unit. I opted for a whole new unit. It came quickly and Nick sent a return label for the leaking unit. No problems with the second unit. Nick was very helpful and polite. Quiet - it's on demand so you do hear it while it runs but it's not very loud Size - very compact. I love that I don't have a big tank. Waste - Although I'm unable to verify, having a filtered to waste ratio of 2:1 is much better than the reverse. Taste - Definite improvement. It took me awhile to decide on this unit so we've been drinking soft water. Cons: It doesn't seem to fill as quickly as the tank did but not a big deal There's a small start and go pause when first dispensing, again, not a big deal The faucet isn't the highest quality. We just kept our other faucet Haven't had it long, but at this point I'd purchase again.

This was the third UVC LED undersink unit I tried and it seems to be working. When I turn on the faucet, the unit ramps up from about .1 watt to around 8 or 9 watts of current draw, then when I turn off the faucet, it drops back to .1 watt right away. There is no 30 second delay before it drops down. The unit from the first manufacturer was advertised as a 14 watt unit, but actually only drew about 5 to 6 watts. I returned it because I was afraid that it wouldn't actually sterilize anything at 5 to 6 watts. The unit from the second manufacturer began to leak a few days after I installed it. It was advertised as a 5 watt unit and drew about 6 watts so that was credible. I didn't return it because the leak may have been caused by a tug on the power cord. Unfortunately the wall wart was fried due to the leak. I replaced it with the ispring because the ispring has an indicator light on the unit. Since it is under the sink, you won't be able to see the indicator light during normal use, but it is a handy check during set up. Also, the ispring seems to have more power. Unfortunately, while the manufacturer states that the indicator light goes on when the unit is active, there is no way to tell if the indicator just means the circuit is working or if it means the UVC is coming out of the LED in sufficient intensity. Also, I can't figure out an easy way to test the unit to make sure that UVC is irradiating the water. I thought about a dye that would change color under UVC, but it might damage the transmittance of the water pathway. It would be nice to know if the indicator actually senses UVC or just current draw. Overall, I'm happy with the unit. It is a quality build and seems to be working well. It would be nice to have a remote indicator light option (or audio indicator option), a 12 volt power option for RVs, and an indicator that lights only if the UVC is strong enough. As far as I can tell, this one is the best option out there right now.

This water source was working well until the day after I replaced the Composite filter (required after 6 months of usage). The outflow of water was delayed by at least 2 to 3 seconds upon turning on the tap and slowly increased in volume in a matter of another 2 to 3 seconds. I first contacted Nick of the product support department by phone and relayed my problem to him. Nick was courteous and proactive in providing a suggestion of sending a replacement Composite Filter for me to try and see if the problem lies with the filter. After a weeks time I received the filter and tried out Nick's suggestion. Unfortuntely it did not work out. So here again I was requesting Nick for a What;s Next solution. Nick in this regard decided to send me the entire RO500 system as a No Charge replacement. After another week and a half's time, the RO500 system arrived. But at that time I suffered a minor stroke and could not readily make the switch. But one thing I do know is that this new unit will definitely perform and that there is always a Nick to turn to in case I encounter another problem or issue.
