I recently purchased the iRobot Roomba Plus 415 Robot Vacuum & Mop Combo, and I can honestly say it has been one of the best home upgrades I’ve ever made. This machine has exceeded every expectation I had. The suction power is incredible, the mopping feature actually scrubs instead of just wiping, and the navigation is smart enough to handle my home without getting lost or stuck. The dock is a game‑changer — it empties the vacuum, washes the mop pads, and dries them so there’s never any mildew smell. I don’t have to babysit it or constantly maintain it. My floors stay clean every single day with almost no effort from me. It’s rare to find a product that truly makes life easier, but this one does. My home feels cleaner, fresher, and more put‑together, and I love knowing it’s taking care of things while I go about my day. I highly recommend the Roomba Plus 415 to anyone who wants a reliable, powerful, and genuinely helpful cleaning system in their home. Love This Thing! This is my second iRobot, and I am so glad I got her! My first one was a vacuum-only model that I bought 11 years ago—and she still works! She has officially been demoted to basement duty. 😂 This new one is incredibly easy to set up, and creating the automations was a breeze. I’m especially impressed with how much iRobot has improved its object detection. She navigates around little dog toys and even detects straps and belts dangling onto the floor in my closet and avoids them. iRobot has come a LONG way in that department! And the cleaning is amazing. I get those beautiful vacuum lines in the carpet, and my hard floors are left sparkling. I have two little fur babies (thankfully, they don't shed!), but they definitely leave their share of paw prints—and those disappear too. She can clean 1,600 sq feet in about 2 hours with vacumming and mopping most of it. Yes, it's a lot of money, but for me, it's absolutely worth it. It helps me keep my home consistently clean without having to hire a maid, and I love coming home to freshly cleaned floors. It is easy to set-up and schedule your weekly cleaners. Now if it can remind me to empty the dirty water everytime that would be great. Yes, you can leave the dirty water in there for 90 days, but I prefer to empty it. It cleans all my floors (1600) three times before water needs to be refilled. So glad I made the investment! ... show more

I will be comparing this roomba to my last cleaning robot, which was an iLife A30 pro which I paid less than half the price for. This roomba gets the job done. I’ve not yet had issues with it leaving a mess or not picking anything up that I wanted it to. The mopping function I would say is good but not excellent. I really like that it reloads itself, where my iLife had to be filled manually and the water did not last nearly long enough for a full clean. This one automatically refills on water when it runs out. The tank itself will not last you for 90 days—if you have mostly hardwood floor like me, you’ll probably have to refill it once a week or more, depending on the size of the area you’re working with. This robot is able to get into tight spaces that my iLife was unable to reach, which I really like, but unfortunately this capability does also lend it to getting stuck pretty frequently. It’s “no need to pick up before cleaning” advertisement is one that I would disregard. Its ability to see and steer clear of unwanted objects is not very good, and I have already had it get stuck on cords. I would only run this roomba when you are home and can deal with accidents as they happen. I got this one hoping it could avoid pet accidents if they happened while I was away, and while I think it can avoid completely steam-rolling a pile of poop like my iLife did, it’s probably still going to run into it and drag it around a bit, so be cautious. Volume is about the same as most, though it does talk loudly and frequently and makes weird noises when it’s trying to get into or out of awkward spots. Overall it’s a pretty good robot, but I’m not sure it’s worth its wholesale price—my iLife I got for $200 and it did about as good a job, though it’s mopping function was definitely lacking, so if that’s an important feature for you, it may be worth springing the extra buck. It’s ability to dodge obstacles is not quite on par with what is advertised, so keep your floors picked up and make liberal use of the keep out zones on the app. ... show more

    • Best purchase I’ve ever made
Update: Still going strong and loving my Roomba (we call him “Wadsworth”) almost 3 years later. I had to replace a part, but it was a breeze to order on the app and easy to install. A couple other small parts will eventually need to be replaced due to normal wear and tear. I had to slightly disassemble recently to remove some hair that had become wrapped around a part, but it was simple and it’s working perfectly again. I usually don’t think much about this vacuum because it vacuums according to my schedule and charges itself. I just have to empty it occasionally. Overall, this vacuum was an excellent buy and changed my life. Whenever it’s finally ready to be retired, I will be buying another Roomba. Original review: I love my Roomba. I toyed with the idea of getting a Roomba, as well as the specific model I wanted, for months before purchasing. I finally decided on the E5 for my two-bedroom apartment, and I’ve used it for three months prior to writing this review. I have two cats, and hardwood floors with area rugs. The Roomba cleans both surfaces extremely well and with ease. I empty the compartment 1-2 times per week and I’m always amazed at the amount of cat hair, dust, and dirt this thing sucks up. The amount of suction is great and quite strong. I don’t need a separate vacuum - this cleans my house very well. If it detects a dry spill or area of dirt while doing a cleaning job, it automatically goes into spot clean mode (circling in smaller then increasingly wider circles,) then resumes normal vacuuming. The spot-clean feature can also be used any time with the touch of a button. The app is great and the Roomba is fully controllable through that feature. I have scheduled it to vacuum every day before we wake up in the morning. It’s not completely quiet, but it’s not as loud as a typical vacuum. The noise level is tolerable and I don’t find it disruptive unless I’m watching TV. I usually sleep through the daily cleaning cycle, and I can check the cleaning history log on the app to ensure it’s been working. It usually cleans successfully and returns itself back to the base to charge without a problem. It can find its way out of tight spaces and slows down if it senses an approaching obstacle. There is a bumper on the front for when it makes contact with walls, chairs, etc. There is a little spinning brush that sweeps along edges thoroughly. This model (E5) doesn’t have the smart mapping feature but it does such a great job I honestly don’t see the need to spend more for that feature in my two-bedroom apartment. If it has any “mishaps” (approaches a “cliff,” gets tangled in a wire, stuck, needs to be emptied, etc.) it stops and an alert pops up on my phone. It’s very easy to disassemble/reassemble if a cord is left on the floor and gets wrapped around the rollers. Emptying it is a breeze as well and it holds a decent amount before becoming full. The one downside with this and all Roombas is pet accidents. If you have a pet that has an issue with housetraining I highly advise that you do NOT buy this vacuum. One time my cat vomited under the dining room table and the Roomba found it. I caught it before it left the room but the damage was done. Partially digested cat food was ground into my area rug and on every inner surface, underside, and wheel of the Roomba. It took at least an hour to clean it out with Q-tips to get it all of the nooks and crannies. I’m not sure how to improve on this on future models, except maybe a sensor on the bottom of the Roomba that deactivates it when it senses moisture. Besides that one caveat, this is an amazing device and I’m not exaggerating to say that it’s changed my life. My home has never been more clean and the piles of cat hair that used to accumulate daily are gone. I never realized how dirty my home was until I got the Roomba and I plan on having and using one forever. I did a ton of research before buying, and at first I was sure I wanted the smart mapping technology. However, this model has just the right amount of features and power without breaking the bank. For larger homes the mapping feature may prove useful, but for my use this unit is perfect. Mapping isn’t the best and may have to do it more than once to get what you want. I have two golden retrievers which shed a lot, which is why I bought this because of the anti-tangle feature. No it doesn’t tangle around the brush, but it tangled around both ends of it so badly that it feeds it down through the inside of the brush and it took me 20 minutes to pull all the fur out around both ends. The mop pads work really well I thought on my floors and I set it for dry time of four hours. They’re still wet and they stink now after mopping two different days I’m going to have to take them off in between wash them in the kitchen sink. Let them dry good and then put them back on. Also, you will need to empty the dirty tank pretty often. Otherwise it stinks really bad. It did clean my floors really well. They looked very nice. The carpet in my bedroom where my dogs sleep a lot it got up most of the fur, except for it left little balls of fur all over the rug, which I had to pick up plus the spot where they lay the most was still covered in fur. It picked up some of it, but not all of it, which I didn’t expect it to anyway. once it was set up and running, scheduling it and setting all the functions was very easy. I wish that you could go back and just map one room without having to map everything all over again. I’ve included a photo of all the hair. I pulled out around both brush ends. The truth about this product is it is not a miracle device. If you start out with a home or business that has a lot of clutter and a lot of dirt and debris it is not going to work for you. In order to give this device a good start your home needs to be clean beforehand then this device is excellent. This is more of a maintenance cleaning device than it is a true deep clean that can only be performed by humans. It’s not going to get into really tight corners and as far as the mopping goes since it doesn’t have a on-board water storage tank, it’s limited to returning to clean the mop heads and to get them saturated. But overall, I am extremely impressed with it as it does what it needs to do and it adheres to the schedule that I put it on. As far as the cons go, there is one major issue. It is not cat friendly as when it is running my cat disappears to the upstairs because it does not like it. It does not go after the cat it simply does its job and the problem might be with the cat rather than the device. Overall, I would say if you have the money to purchase one, it’s a good investment, but also before you get it, do a regular clean yourself and only use it as a maintenance cleaning rather than something you expect to do a miraculous job. I cannot stress enough how deeply disappointed I am in this vacuum. It vacuums very well. It mops okay. The claim that you could not empty it for up to 90 days is utter BS! They must have only tested this in a closet. We don’t even do our entire house each run and we still have to empty it every 2-3 days. This, while annoying and completely opposite of their claim, I could deal with. What I can’t deal with is the failures, constant failures. Mop pads are held on by magnets, very weak magnets at that. They come off constantly. Several times per run. The little side brush does also. It also tries to go under tables, recliners, chairs, stuff it is the same height of. Then it can’t come out. 4 times last night I had to come free it from its own stupidity. So much for scanning to avoid obstacles. Sad thing now, is we are well outside the return window and are stuck with this thing. ... show more
