The media could not be loaded. This is Kevin. If you’ve been on the fence about getting a robot vacuum and mop combo, let me go ahead and clear that up for you: this one is absolutely worth it. I got the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo with the AutoWash Dock, and I’m genuinely impressed. I don’t buy expensive gadgets to babysit them—if I’m spending this much, it better step up and take something off my plate. This one does exactly that. Let me start with the look, because yes, it matters. The wood-front design? High class. It doesn’t look like some clunky gadget or a sci-fi hockey puck rolling around your floors. It blends in. It looks intentional. Even the dock looks elevated instead of industrial, which is rare for something that handles dirt and mop water. The cleaning performance is where it really shines. The dual brushes and the extending self-cleaning roller mop work together beautifully. It vacuums, it mops, it retracts the mop when it needs to—it’s basically a tiny employee living in my house rent-free. The LiDAR mapping is scarily accurate. He (he’s absolutely a “he” now) knows my floor plan better than I do and works around furniture like he’s been navigating the place for years. The AutoWash Dock might actually be my favorite part. It self-empties the dust bin, heat-washes the mop, dries it so it never smells musty, and gets everything ready for the next cycle without me touching anything. The mop staying clean and dry is a huge win because every other robot mop I’ve owned eventually had that lingering “wet rag” smell. This one stays fresh. Obstacle avoidance? Excellent. I don’t worry about cords, socks, dog toys, or the random chaos children create. The custom controls in the app let me set schedules, adjust water flow, create room zones, and send him to spot-clean exactly where I point. Now for my extremely tiny complaint, because I like to be honest: The app has a little bit of a learning curve. Nothing bad—just that there are so many customization options that it took me a minute to figure out where everything lived. Once you get it organized the way you like, it’s smooth sailing. It’s more of an onboarding moment than a problem, and honestly, the customization options are worth it. I’d rather have too much control than not enough. Beyond that, this thing has made my floors look freshly cleaned every single day without any effort from me. Hardwood, tile, the random crumbs and dust that seem to appear out of nowhere—it handles all of it. And the fact that I never have to touch a dirty mop pad again? Bless. If you’re debating it: just go for it. It performs like a premium model because it is one, and it actually delivers on the convenience it promises. Absolute solid value for the price.     • Night navigation is poor - need to move entire base to other floors to clean
It's good at vacuuming and moping, app is a little buggy. It is the only vacuum we've found to cover our large house. Doesn't work well at night, get's lost under our couch if a light isn't left on for it. False advertising as it doesn't work day or night. We've also discovered you need to move the entire base to another floor for it to clean that floor. We're sending this back for a refund as it doesn't exactly operate as advertised. This is my third Roomba — my first was almost 20 years ago (don’t even remember the name!) and my second about 10 years ago. The new iRobot Roomba Max 705 is on a whole different level. Technology has come a long way, and it really shows. Setup & Mapping -------------------- - Setup was super simple. The new app connected instantly with no hassle. - First thing I did was run it to map the floor — the map came out perfectly. - In the app, I easily defined all my zones (Kitchen, Family Room, Dining, Living Room) just by tapping and drawing. Very intuitive. Performance --------------- - Tried a regular vacuum run first, then tested the vacuum + mop in the kitchen. - The movement is much smoother than older generations. It doesn’t slam into furniture or walls anymore — it slows down as it senses objects, which is great because we have some fragile items. - The mop leaves the floor pretty dry afterward, which I really appreciate. - It finds the dock easily every time. - It covers the entire map and shows the cleaning path clearly in the app, which is very cool to watch. - empty itself, cleans itself, so easy to have it run on a schedule Overall --------- This Roomba is efficient, smart, and surprisingly gentle. So far so good. Using the app to set routines. Seems to clean well on "Deep Clean". Seems to know the difference between throw carpets and bare floor. Occasionally gets caught up on the entryway carpet. A Single full Battery Charge only can do two rooms at a time (on Deep Clean- Vac then Mop mode), then it docks itself and recharges. Have to maintain the dock manually to remove pet hair. Wipe out hair/dust, and clean the charging contacts. (We do have a shedding short hair dog). After each use or two a human has to maintain the dock and bottom of the roomba. First dust bag was filled, and just replaced the second provided bag. Lasted about 6 or 7 deep clean runs. Having trouble finding replacement bags that fit. Even though the description states it does fit. Waiting on delivery of another brand. The iRobot ones did not fit, as the bags have to be Flat by the intake hole when folded prior to replacing. Pretty happy with the performance of this machine. Only once did it leave drips of water as it was mopping. Cleaned the pet hair/overflow dust off/out of the inside of the dock and it was ok next run. Occasionally loses WiFi. If during a routine it loses WiFi it will go back to the dock. Then you have to review the app and reset it to rerun after it charges itself in the dock. Design is interesting as it will turn on a flashlight to "see" under and around beds. Much less of the Roomba "twirling" than with older models. It was rather pricey, but seems to do a decent job picking up dirt and mopping. Nothing replaces a human, but this is a nice timesaver for the human to do something else while it cleans the floors. ... show more
