Extremely disappointed! I bought the machine two months ago and have had to return it for a replacement machine three times already. (I currently have unit number 4.) Each one has the same issue with water leaking into the docking area, which causes an error and the machine can’t run. iRobot acknowledges the defect and replaces the unit each time but won’t provide a different model or a refund. The last representative literally told me I would have to keep getting replacement robots every few weeks until I “get one that works right.” Amazon also won’t intervene because the 30 day return window has passed. And the Asurian protection plan I purchased only covers repairs after 12 months from the purchase date. So, I’m stuck returning the robots every two weeks for a year. ... show more

This is Kevin. If you’ve been on the fence about getting a robot vacuum and mop combo, let me go ahead and clear that up for you: this one is absolutely worth it. I got the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo with the AutoWash Dock, and I’m genuinely impressed. I don’t buy expensive gadgets to babysit them—if I’m spending this much, it better step up and take something off my plate. This one does exactly that. Let me start with the look, because yes, it matters. The wood-front design? High class. It doesn’t look like some clunky gadget or a sci-fi hockey puck rolling around your floors. It blends in. It looks intentional. Even the dock looks elevated instead of industrial, which is rare for something that handles dirt and mop water. The cleaning performance is where it really shines. The dual brushes and the extending self-cleaning roller mop work together beautifully. It vacuums, it mops, it retracts the mop when it needs to—it’s basically a tiny employee living in my house rent-free. The LiDAR mapping is scarily accurate. He (he’s absolutely a “he” now) knows my floor plan better than I do and works around furniture like he’s been navigating the place for years. The AutoWash Dock might actually be my favorite part. It self-empties the dust bin, heat-washes the mop, dries it so it never smells musty, and gets everything ready for the next cycle without me touching anything. The mop staying clean and dry is a huge win because every other robot mop I’ve owned eventually had that lingering “wet rag” smell. This one stays fresh. Obstacle avoidance? Excellent. I don’t worry about cords, socks, dog toys, or the random chaos children create. The custom controls in the app let me set schedules, adjust water flow, create room zones, and send him to spot-clean exactly where I point. Now for my extremely tiny complaint, because I like to be honest: The app has a little bit of a learning curve. Nothing bad—just that there are so many customization options that it took me a minute to figure out where everything lived. Once you get it organized the way you like, it’s smooth sailing. It’s more of an onboarding moment than a problem, and honestly, the customization options are worth it. I’d rather have too much control than not enough. Beyond that, this thing has made my floors look freshly cleaned every single day without any effort from me. Hardwood, tile, the random crumbs and dust that seem to appear out of nowhere—it handles all of it. And the fact that I never have to touch a dirty mop pad again? Bless. If you’re debating it: just go for it. It performs like a premium model because it is one, and it actually delivers on the convenience it promises. Absolute solid value for the price.     • Lousy network setup that doesn’t work
Robot connected to the network initially and it did a great job cleaning. After just a few days, the robot stopped responding and stated I needed to reconnect it to the network. Attempts to reconnect failed even after performing all of the troubleshooting tips. Contacted support and they were of little assistance. I performed all of their recommendations and was still not able to get it to reconnect to my network. It’s now just a conversation starter about how frustrating it is, especially with the price paid.     • Early but very happy
Just a quick note (turned out not so quick), since I've had it less than a week. In short, I Recommend it. Coming from the J7+. The upgrade has worked great. Doesn't feel like it's like watching bumper cars working through the house. It's vac+mop clean works great and actually works along the straight edges. The floors (tile and wood with thin area carpet) feels great under bare feet and improved over the J7+. There were a hiccup or two on starting the 1st run but quickly got past that. Yes, I had read the reviews and left it on the base to update for about 4 hours (getting it's 'day 1' updates) before it's mapping. The mapping run went quick compared to the j7+ and was funny to watch it run into a room and spin around discovering everything for the first time. The result of the map of the house was spot on and it started adding some correct furniture in the right places on its own. The dings against it, again it's been less than a week, have been against the app; mostly. Coming from the "classic" app it's a different workflow. I assume I will get use to it but it's not the most intuitive coming from the "classic". The cleaner for the 705 "stayclean" is a no go to find on Amazon or irobot's website (it does come with a small 1st bottle to start with). If you dig around in the app you will find that you can use the previously made irobot cleaner but you you will need to mix a specific amount in the main water container vs adding straight into the "stayclean" reservoir (just a heads up). Additional note is I do have a pretty decent transition (it's not exactly flat between the 2) between the kitchen (tile) and living room (wood). The J7+ was always able to handle it like a champ. It's one of the reasons I waited on pulling the trigger initially on getting the J7+, until I say a video review specially showing how various robot vacs handle different transitions. I was worried about this one but the 705 has handled it well. It did pause at the transition the 1st couple of times, like it was worried but got over it fears and carried on. Early but I've been really happy with the upgrade. I had put off doing a vac+mop upgrade for a year. Before the 705 max combo I was actually looking at Roborocks and they still might be the better upgrade. I don't know, I didn't go with it (and it's still early). The roborocks do have a lot of features and a lot of good reviews. I've seen a lot of the online reviews and even the negative ones for this one; mainly around the initial leaks thus needing the 'day 1' update. For now it is thumbs up. It cleans, cleans better than my previous roomba, and cleans what I have very well. ... show more

    • Waste of time and money
Any time you save vacuuming or mopping is then wasted tenfold cleaning and fixing this robot. It's prone to clogs, and the parts where it clogs are not designed to come apart easily for cleaning. It has also tangled itself on cords, despite guarantees to the contrary, so you have to roomba-proof your home before running it. When the mop does work, it leaves behind puddles which then become white spots on the floor. Very aggravating to spend so much money on a device that then sucks up your time fixing it. The mop functionality ultimately completely stopped working with an "Error 517" message. I tried contacting customer support about it, to which I received slow and sometimes nonsensical responses. Their last suggestion was to factory reset the machine, and after doing so, it won't connect again. Additionally, its loud, and cleaning a ~1000sq ft apartment takes about 8 hours because of recharging. The only reason this isn't one star is because when the mop did run correctly, it showed promise and the floors were quite clean. Just buy a nice dyson to vacuum your apartment yourself and save yourself many hours and stress. ... show more

    • Don't do the job good!
Very disappointed! Im one of the old costumers that bought different models of roomba since 10 years ago. I was still ok with the roomba model s9. The mop, bravaa jet, wasn't working that good. So I decided to get the combo one this year. Even I've been told about other brands but I decided to stay loyal. And unfortunately this model failed. It doesn't clean good at all! I have to vacuum after its done deep vacuuming. Not good with corners AT ALL. And couldn't detect the small rug and tangled the wire that was on the floor!!!! The oldest model I have does way better job, and the app is not that good either. I wanted to give it 2 stars honestly. Im returning my purchase and going to get the other brand. Im sad... but I need peace of mind and want something that actually works for the money I pay.... ... show more

The app for this machine is the worst app I have ever used. The schedule never works...EVER! Even though I tell it manually through the horrible app to vacuum and then mop it constantly mops and then vacuum which is an awesome mess for me to clean up. And defeats the entire purpose of having it. I have been trying to use this piece of crap going on 3 months or so. Then it says the map isn't compatible so stops but luckily there is no place on the app to delete the map, but you can have the machine remap so you have multiple maps that are eventually not compatible whatever that even means. I have completely uninstalled the app and reinstalled it multiple times which is a time consuming pain. I have also reset the machine many times. Then when you attempt to contact customer support it is a bot and when you tell it what is wrong it can't help you and sends you to a customer support agent that never shows up. So no, for the amount of money this thing is, it isn't even worth half. In fact I think they not only should refund me, they should pay me an additional $200 for wasting my time. Other than that when it does vaccum it does a great job and the bag does hold a lot, probably 60 days worth. My golden sheds like crazy so that is why I purchased it. The mop well I can't say it is great because the only time it seems to work is before vacuuming and not sure why that would ever even be a freaking option. ... show more

Impressed Again — My 3rd Roomba and the Best One Yet! This is my third Roomba — my first was almost 20 years ago (don’t even remember the name!) and my second about 10 years ago. The new iRobot Roomba Max 705 is on a whole different level. Technology has come a long way, and it really shows. Setup & Mapping -------------------- - Setup was super simple. The new app connected instantly with no hassle. - First thing I did was run it to map the floor — the map came out perfectly. - In the app, I easily defined all my zones (Kitchen, Family Room, Dining, Living Room) just by tapping and drawing. Very intuitive. Performance --------------- - Tried a regular vacuum run first, then tested the vacuum + mop in the kitchen. - The movement is much smoother than older generations. It doesn’t slam into furniture or walls anymore — it slows down as it senses objects, which is great because we have some fragile items. - The mop leaves the floor pretty dry afterward, which I really appreciate. - It finds the dock easily every time. - It covers the entire map and shows the cleaning path clearly in the app, which is very cool to watch. - empty itself, cleans itself, so easy to have it run on a schedule Overall --------- This Roomba is efficient, smart, and surprisingly gentle.
