  • 10/10 Highly Recommend
My husband and I purchased this item after trying for years to use the knock-off one we were gifted for our wedding. We immediately noticed the difference in using the Roomba and will never go back. This vacuum cleaner has navigated 3 homes, sufficiently picked up dog hair and toddler crumbs, and covers the entire proximity of our home. We use the scheduling technology and set the timer to start the same time every night. The battery lasts for the entire length of use and successfully suctions everything off the ground. We do not use the Roomba as a replacement for regular vacuuming, when it comes to deep cleaning, more to maintain our home and keep it clean during busy weeks, which is why we purchased and continue to use it! 10/10 recommend! ... show more

  • Worth it (update)
So, I got this because it was on sale for half off, and I couldn't pass the offer when I was already looking to get a robot vacuum. I just moved and was lamenting to a friend that I'd need to get a vacuum and actually do so. I'm disabled and that slight bend to vacuum/sweep/mop is agony. They recommended looking into a robot vacuum. Initially I was thinking a Roomba would be far out of my price range. And admittedly, this one would be without the deal I got. But I'm so happy I did. I have carpet. I saw mixed reviews on it's ability with carpet. It's been doing a fine job of it. It is a bit loud, as other reviewers have complained, but unless you want to vacuum at midnight, it's not a big deal and it's not THAT loud. It's mapping is well done. And I like being able to send it to a specific room. What's more, after a cleaning session, it shows you everywhere it vacuumed. It apparently will even tell you if it found a high dirt area, though I haven't really had any issues worth it mentioning. Emptying the bin is super easy, and I'm shocked at how much it gets. I also enjoy that it can go places I wouldn't get if I was vacuuming personally, such as under the bed. Another thing I love was this particular one came with a virtual wall. I'm very OCD and didn't want Roomba going in the bathroom. Of course I could just close the door, but this is more convenient. I also plan to get a pet soon, and the circle shaped wall will be great to go around the food/water dish to keep it from bumping into them and spilling water. The wall has two settings. Line or circle. A simple switch on the side will let you choose which. Though I'm wondering how to know when the battery is getting low. (It takes 2 AA batteries which it comes with. It also comes with a spare filter.) The app has estimated times for replacement parts. And the parts come apart pretty easily. (Roomba vacuumed up a piece of broken door stopper I didn't notice and made the most awful racket. Had to remove the rollers to get it out. Very easy process.) It also lets you know when the dust bin is getting full, though I empty it after each run. You can also activate the vacuum from anywhere with the app. Out of the house and decide you'd like Roomba to clean while your out so you don't have to listen to it, but forgot to activate it before you left? No problem. It also has the ability to pair with Alexa, but I don't use that feature. Overall, I highly recommend. If I have any complaints about how it handled pets on carpet (I definitely don't think I'd recommend letting a cat ride it on carpet. I imagine even in hardwood it's hard on the Roomba) such as not doing a great job getting fur, I'll come back and update with complaints. But so far, I highly recommend this. Edit: Oh but the buyers remorse. Look, I'll give them credit. Their customer service is fantastic, and they'll spend TWO HOURS on the phone with you if necessary trying to troubleshoot issues. -_- I spent about 20 minutes trying to reconnect it to my new wifi with no luck. I called customer support. They had me do all kinds of things only to decide it's not charging right and they're gonna order a repair. Guess what? This is the second unit I've had that needed repairs in less than a year. The first one wouldn't charge at all. They outright replaced it since that was less than a month after I got it. I don't know what charging has to do with refusing to connect with my phone (you know how devices like this momentarily make their own network for you to connect to? Mine never did, which is why I called them) but whatever. They're sending me a box to send this in to be repaired and replacing it depending on how the repair goes. Personally, I just wish I had gone with one of those cordless vacuums with the long extension. Hindsight and all that. ... show more

  • Nice robo-vac with good performance and value
Excellent robo-vacuum. The vacuum works particularly well on hard floors, less so on carpet which is to be expected with these type of vacuums. It covered the areas I used it on very well and seemed to have very good software to allow for pretty complete coverage without having to go over areas more than once. Compared to my last vacuum, I like this much better. The rubber rotating brush is much easier to clean than the typical brush that is hard to remove hair and lint collections. The unit charged quickly and had good longevity. Decent overall value for the price. ... show more

  • Several annoying kinks but overall happy
Overall, I'm happy that I bought this vacuum. I got it on half price, about $230, and you can't beat that for a smart mapping vacuum. I have two, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I can't believe all the stuff it picks up. Parts of the vacuum have been pretty frustrating though. When I first tried to map the house, it took an entire day because after several hours the vacuum had supposedly mapped everything, and then when I went to pull up the map to label it, everything disappeared. I had to run it three times before it mapped the floor successfully. It was annoying because I picked up literally everything off the floor and put in a ton of work, making my house unusable for a day, and then it took so long that I was barely able to get the smart mapping done in time so I could take the chairs and stuff off my bed to have a bed to go to sleep. My other frustration is that they get stuck very easily. In a month of running each vacuum a couple times a week at least, I think I've had up to five successful runs where the vacuum hasn't gotten stuck at some point. It gets stuck on different things, like the legs of the stool or table legs or under the edge of the couch. Or, even though I intentionally pick everything up off the floor the night of the scheduled run, some one thing manages to get in the Roomba. A little set of ear plugs, a metal Pokemon card (why didn't it just go over the flat card on tile?).... When it gets stuck, instead of shutting off to save the battery once it realizes that it is stuck, it just keeps going, so the battery dies. Then the vacuum won't return to its home and I have to return it. Getting them docked again is really frustrating because the docking is really finicky, so I have to wiggle the vacuum all around for up to five minutes! Then I have to walk the floor and see which rooms got done before it got stuck, and I have to run it again for the rooms that it didn't get to. And it is loud! We usually run it at night due to the noise, with the nice scheduling function, but that's part of why the Roombas get stuck and then run out of battery. I'm sleeping and don't fix it fast enough. Then I have to run it during the day anyway to get the rooms it didn't get while getting stuck. This was meant to be something I didn't have to think about, but now it's like a low maintenance pet I have to keep track of. FYI, the Roomba will only save one map at a time, so you can't have one Roomba and two floors of your house. That's okay with me because I don't want to haul the whole thing up and down every time I want to vacuum, but it does mean that your up front investment doubles. Also, I was under the impression that the Roomba smart mapping would do one room, then move to the next, and leave parallel lines of vacuum marks, which I really wanted. In reality, the Roomba goes seemingly randomly between rooms over and over doing sections for the whole period it is cleaning. That means that I have to keep all the kitchen chairs and table squashed against the wall for hours at a time instead of being able to say, "The kitchen is done, now we can use the table again while it finishes the rest of the house." It also means that there are random diagonal lines on top of the parallel vacuum lines, so you don't get the pretty look. Despite the smart mapping, the vacuum still pushes against the wall over and over, trying to get to the edges I guess but the front is getting scratched up after just a month. I'm worried about how long the sensor will function. I haven't figured out a pattern to this annoying phenomenon yet. Sometimes when it's supposed to do a normal vacuum run, it goes into "discovering and cleaning" mode which makes the vacuum even more unpredictable (see my complaint about not completing one room at a time), and runs for several hours. Last night it was supposed to vacuum the bottom floor of my house, beginning at 11pm, which should have taken a few hours. Instead, I turned it off when it came back into our room at 5am so loud that it woke me (see complaint about sound). This bothers me so much that I contacted customer support. They gave the reason that the vacuum supposedly continues to learn about the environment, which is why it does this super long run at least once a week and could potentially be a cool feature I guess, but I don't see the vacuum adjusting anything. Like I said earlier, it still bumps against all the edges of things and the walls. (Wow, I didn't realize how many things I dislike about this vacuum until writing this review.) But like I said, I can't believe how much the vacuum picks up. It gets much more than my regular vacuum. I don't even know how so much crap ends up on my carpet after only a week. We don't even have pets. I like the feature of setting a job to do any number and choice of rooms at any time from my phone. I wanted the app. So it remains to be seen how long the vacuum will work when it looks pretty scratched up on the front, and it will continue to be annoying to not just be able to set the auto function and let it go, since it always gets stuck. ... show more
