Absolutely love this pool. Pretty easy to put together, and with a little ingenuity you can even work around some of the "rules." For instance, having 5 feet of free space all around the pool to install. We for it into our yard right up against our fence. We do have a path to walk by it. The reason they say this is because to install the legs and stand the pool up you need to lay it all out flat. If you use your brain you can figure out how to put it in worth limited space. As long as you have 18ft×10ft you can put the pull there. Also our yard was a bunch of small gravel. We did not shovel it out. We did buy 2 aftermarket pool pads that we put over the smoothed out gravel layer. It's plenty of protection to keep it from damaging the liner. I HIGHLY recommend getting an aftermarket pool pad regardless, because the one that comes with the pool is a CHEAP thin tarp. As far as leveling.... level the ground.... our ground was mostly level to begin with so we were very lucky to not have much leveling to do.... but from previous experiences with above ground pools....4 or 5 inches greatly reduces the depth of your pool at one side and makes for a diminished experience. Always level. Had to roof a few things up to make it work better... mainly the intake ports. I reinforced them and put them sitting on a chair because the weight from water coming through the house makes a very hard pull that looked like it would eventually cause problems. The filter is working great, the cover is great, the ladder is a little wobbly, but if you're careful.... and don't have any stupid kids it will work.... if you have stupid kids, I would recommend buying a better ladder. Great experience putting the pool in, really cheap, great instructions, fun pool to enjoy. 5 stars all day

This pool was easy to assemble and feels much sturdier than I expected. The frame is solid, the size is perfect for family fun, and the filter pump keeps the water clean with regular maintenance. We’ve been using it almost every day, and it’s been a great addition to our backyard. Excellent quality for the price—I highly recommend it!

Perfect size for just floating and for the little ones to splash around. Easy to reach in to skim top+bottom or you can stand in it with shorts on if you don’t want to put a suit on! I love this pool! I wanted a STP but this was cheaper for shipping and delivered right to my door. Took two of us about an hour to put up. Put down a heavy duty tarp and the fatigue mats from HF and it makes a nice soft floor to walk/kneel/sit on. Get the plastic/straw like outdoor rugs for your entry path. They are great for keeping stuff out of your pool and water flows right through them! Pump works great except it can only be set it for 2-10hrs. Have to change the plug to put it on a timer. We will do that next year.

I have had several Intex pools over the years and have loved every one of them UNTIL now. Where do I begin? The framing is now different, which is disappointing. The vertical poles would not fit into the base covers, so I had to use pliers and squeeze them to make them fit. The vertical poles stay in place by weight and resistance, but if you don't have water in the pool, the poles fall out. So when you lift the pool frame to insert the vertical poles, the previous poles fall out. I finally got it all put together, only to discover several holes in the liner. I go for the patch kit, but guess what? They no longer supply the necessary glue. A sticky patch was at least included, but I had to buy a pool patch kit also. So what should have taken 30/40 minutes ended up taking 6 hours, and this is a small pool. Now I have to wait 24/48 hours before adding water to make sure the patches will hold. Honestly, as thin as this liner is, I don't expect it to last the summer. I will be surprised if it lasts a week of just water floating. I am expecting to find more holes because the quality of the liner is so bad. ;-(. I am so disappointed. The old liners were thicker and I have never had a liner with a hole. I can not recommend this pool. ;-((((((

Update 2024: I’ve setup the pool 3 of the last 5 years and am contemplating a bigger one since the grandkids are now much bigger and thought I’d update the review . No change to any of my 1 month review comments below. Additionally: - realistically our swim season here in Colorado is at best 3 1/2 months and I take down the pool each year prior to cold weather. This style of pool is really good for such use as it’s easy to setup and knock down. I do it solo but it’s easier with a helper. Takes me half a day but most of that time is in leveling the base. I still much dislike constantly banging into the vertical supports during swim season by the way but I’m the only one in the family they seem to annoy. - Intex actually builds a good pool for the price. My only real gripe is that the numerous plastic bearing surfaces in the upright and horizontal supports were falling apart after only 2 years of light use. However replacements are available from Intex. Not expensive individually but you need a lot of them. - pump still going strong though it has almost no reserve power to handle dirty filter and add-ons such as a skimmer and a vacuum is likely out of the question. I added the $17 Intex skimmer and is definitely worth getting though under performs due to the pump. - Save a ton of money by learning how to clean and reuse the filter. - I’m borderline fixated on protecting the liner during storage, installation, take down, etc thus was extremely annoyed to find 3 leaks upon setup this year. 2 were pinholes I could see but 1 was underneath. Not difficult to patch but by the time the patch kit arrived the leaks had magically stopped. - yes the supplied ladder is lightweight but was still in great shape after 2 seasons of heavy use by elementary school aged kids. This year I built some 4’ wide steps covered with outdoor carpet and attached an aftermarket pool ladder to the top step. Wish I’d done this the first year as everyone loves it and so much easier/safer for grandparents to enjoy the pool. Kids are going to jump off the ladder no matter what you say and the homemade stairs are perfect for that. Original review in 2019: This review is based on having the pool up for only a month. Pool is relatively easy to assemble. Directions are adequate but not great. Liner seems sturdy though the multiple seams do tend to collect dirt. Other reviewers have had very negative observations of the pump. After a month it seems to me adequate but it is getting louder and I am shopping for a replacement. A lot depends on how much the pool is used and how clean surrounding environment is. The pump has a timer option I like where it runs set number of hours each day. if you have active kids or larger adults using the pool plan on replacing the ladder within a couple months. Power cord has built in GFCI that seems very, sensitive- probably a good thing though annoying because it seems to randomly trip even with nobody around. I wanted to rate the pool a 3 because of what it isn't but it is a decent pool so went with 4 stars. But beware of the below negatives I found for my situation. Things I don't like: - I don't think I would buy this pool again solely because of how it is supported. The numerous support feet stick well out from the pool and people are constantly banging toes and tripping over the supports. Also there is a plastic-welded strap from bottom of supports to bottom of pool that is natural for people to step on but not strong enough to withstand the weight of a person plus weight of pool. I marked durability down a star for this reason. - Round vs oval shaped: In my case oval is only shape that would fit my situation but if I had the room I would go to round next time. Nothing wrong with oval but for a bunch of kids splashing around I think round would have more utility. Personal opinion only and not a factor in my star rating for this review. - There is not much useful guidance in directions on preparing surface to set pool on. This is my first pool and after hours of web research it seems to me surface prep advice from the manufacturer is a primary requirement. Intex doesn't provide much help. I have pool on a large concrete patio and the amount of work, crushed rock, retaining edges for the rock, etc to prepare an already sturdy, smooth concrete slab with slight drainage slope was surprising. Very pleased with end result (pool perfectly level and rock solid installation) but 2 guys much of a day to prep existing concrete surface and erect the pool was not expected. Do yourself a favor and set the pool on something sturdy and kind to feet such as outdoor carpet or in my case I used that 1/2" blue foam insulation board at Lowes taped together with gorilla tape. Glad I did and next year think I will additionally cover the foam with outdoor carpet and extend carpet well out from pool because even with the foam, walking on or hitting the bottom of pool feels kind of firm. (yeah I know a person over 60 yrs old should probably should not be demonstrating for grandchildren cannon balls into a 48" deep pool but what can I say...). - There is no guidance for first time pool owner to navigate the seemingly complex areas of pool supplies, pool chemistry, maintenance equipment, etc, etc, etc. I'd say that one should budget at least 50% of pool cost for all the "stuff" a pool owner should probably have or do. Site prep could easily add another 50-100% and if you get into buying a decent ladder or a better pump/filter/salt purifier setup the cost quickly escalates even further.

This an excellent pool for what size it is because it was easy too set up and very sturdy. The 12ft size is larger than you think holds my double float with room to spare. The filter pump does the job okay it’s fine for the pools size.

We got five plus years out of this pool! The pump never failed and it really did a good job filtering. I only bought six filters during that time, I just rinsed them clean. The ladder is flimsy but worked. Of course the discharge hoses crack and get replaced every two years (Inexpensive). The top vinyl rail has started to fray and the pipes are rusting bad. Three of the support strips are ready to let go. All the issues are from the extreme Gulf coast weather. It’s been a ton of fun and we ordered the 18 x 9 x 52” to replace it for around the same price. This pool would probably go one more year but I don’t like taking a chance with the kids. I set it up on a slab which most definitely helps longevity. The instruction were very helpful with setup and operation. Keeping the chemicals exact really helps longevity too. The pool was a good size but I am ready for just a little bigger and newer.
