This instant-read thermometer from Typhur does exactly what it promises, quick, accurate readings with no fuss. Much sturdier than my previous thermometer (which pulled apart after a few months) and comes on automatically when the probe is pulled down. Super accurate (ice water test) and turns itself off when the probe is closed or after a few seconds of non-use. Very weighty and sturdy and just feels good in your hand. I was a chef for 20+ years and wish I’d come across this probe back then…can’t tell you how many cheap probes I replaced over and over and over…

Perfect! A very well thought out and intelligently designed tool. Everything you need, nothing you don't. Accurate temperature in less than one second, every time. Turns itself on when you use it... no button to actuate or wear out. Then back off when left at rest. No annoying beeps or audible indicators, as none are needed. A small and sharp probe tip, that slips into tough bread crust easily and quickly. Meats and such, even easier. The display is wonderful, changing orientation when going between right or left hands (as a cell phone will), so it can be easily and quickly read. And backlit so that it's clear and readable, even inside the oven. And, without glasses on. I can now use it for a split-second check inside the oven, without eyeglasses on and steaming up from opening the oven door. Then close the oven again quickly with minimal heat loss. The magnetic mount is genius, easy to keep it close at hand (on the back/side of my oven). Yet protected and out of the way otherwise. It uses 2-AAA batteries. Inexpensive, long-lasting and easily replaceable when the time comes. Pricey, yes. But as it's offered with a 10 year warranty, the manufacturer is clearly standing behind it. I suspect it will last for many years of use. A rare trait any more. I will definitely consider this brand for future needs, based on what I've seen in this thermometer. Well done! (pun intended...)

Cooking good steak on a grill can go from perfect to overdone in a minute. Just remember after you pull it it will still go up a bit, so pull about 5 degrees before the temp you are looking for.

I’m just a hobbyist, but this is the best fast read temperature probe I’ve ever used. Performance is top notch. The build quality is excellent, especially the display screen. You will be able to read it in any light situation. The temperature reading stabilized very quickly, ambidextrous response is also very fast. Obviously to turn the unit on you will need to swing the probe out. It has good magnet strength, but, in cases where you have a true stainless steel grill or prep table, just lay it down, in out position, it will awaken within a second when picked up. Close the probe, it will stay off till next use. The box it is shipped in makes for great storage, just make sure to keep the outer sleeve of the box. The probe itself is very sharp (but, be careful) unlike some others, which makes it very easy to push in to the most delicate, to the very tough cuts of meat at any temperature. It uses 2AAA batteries which are are very versatile, unlike the 2032 lithium batteries that others use. I understand that alot of people use these products in cold temperatures in which alkaline batteries will not work well, but you can get AAA lithium batteries for cold weather conditions. Just make sure you remove the alkaline batteries when the probe will not be used for long periods of time due to corrosion. All in all, a great product, it’s built with quality materials and should last a very long time. Quality over quantity. Also, they offer a 10 year warranty once you register your probe. They actually reached out to me after I purchased it and left a phone number. I called them and actually spoke to a real representative of the company. You may pay more for this temp probe than 100’s of others that are less expensive, but, I feel that Typhur stands behind their products.

It might not seem like a big deal, but for some reason I thought there was a grilling temp chart on the back of the thermometer. I didn't realize how much I referred to that when grilling.

This is by far the best instant read thermometer I've ever purchase. The turn on/off meconism is pure genus. Just lift out the probe and you're all set and the temp read is truly as fast as advertised. Love this product!!
