Bought this as a replacement for our well used Gourmia that we got in 2019. It still worked but it was being to show its age in a lot of ways. After lots of research I picked the Vortex Slim and we love it. First off, this is much smaller than our old air fryer (see pictures, banana for scale). Its also a complete different shape. The Gourmia was tall and the basket was round. This is low and long with a rectangular basket. Its not a good/bad/better thing, just different. What is good and better is how quiet this is. If the Gourmia was on, you knew it. Not so with the Vortex Slim. Multiple times I have thought it was finished because I couldn't hear anything only to discover it was chugging away. Its also fast. I have essentially cut my cooking times in half from what I am used to setting. One HUGE qualifier for that - the Vortex Slim has a preheat cycle so the actual time it take to cook from start to finish will vary by a lot. If you have a line of hungry family members waiting for the air fryer, the Vortex Slim is going to save you a LOT of time. I dont like the bottom tray design as much as I like the two basket design the Gourmia had. If you cook things that generate grease the tray is not as good. On the other hand cleaning is MUCH easier since you only have one massive thing to put into the dishwasher. Overall and excellent air fryer. (sorry the pictures are not great)

I bought this in March 2024 and have used it almost daily. There was a strong plastic-rubber smell at first, but it was easily removed by putting vinegar in an 8-oz ramekin and "cooking" it in the AF at 250 for 20 minutes. I did this twice on the back porch. I've used every setting so far but the roast setting, and everything has turned out great! One of my favorite ways to use it is to "hard boil" eggs ... NO WATER! I put 6 eggs in the basket and cook at 270 for 16 minutes. When the timer goes off, I put the eggs in ice water for two minutes. They easily peel and I have boiled eggs all week for avocado toast, salads, deviled eggs, or a quick snack. I have a small kitchen, so real estate is valuable. This slim style fits perfectly in my baking station area. The basket is rectangular and deep. It's like putting two 3-qt baskets end to end. It works GREAT for bacon and pork tenderloin without having to cut. So far, so good...... I recommend 👍

i recieved the instant xl slim 6 quart air fryer ive read so many horrible things on how bad the smell was like burnth rubber i was going cancel order but i wanted to see for myself so i recieved air fryer today i took it out of the box i took vinager window spray with lemon juice and dish washing soap and washed the air fryer with the mix i made than pit it in the fryer on about 15 mins than washed air fryer with mix i did agaiin about 4 times after last wash i put 2 potatoes on bake about 20 minutes as you know potatoe asorbs any smell left im happy to let you it worked beautifully oder free no more smell its a beautiful air fryer real compact but with pleanty space to cook sure happy i followed my own judgement im very happy i did and now im the ower of a great air fryer setting work with ease open drawer it stops close draw it continues where you left off and turns off when food is finished automatic hope this will help you all

I purchased the Instant Vortex Slim Air Fryer twice, hoping the first one was simply defective, but I faced the same issue both times. Right from the start, there was an overwhelming smell of burnt plastic or glue that permeated my home, lingering on walls, hair, fabrics. Following the manufacturer's initial start-up instructions did nothing to alleviate the smell. I then turned to various online suggestions, running the air fryer at 400°F for 30 minutes, and even using methods like vinegar, lemon.. heck I even added coffee grounds and garlic to neutralize odors, yet the noxious smell persisted. The concern for my health due to potential toxic off-gassing led me to return both units. This experience has convinced me to switch to a stainless steel model next time, hoping for a safer and odor-free cooking experience. To conclude: I believe manufacturers should pre-burn their products before shipping or ensure no harmful chemicals are used in production. The current practice clearly needs reevaluation for both safety and customer satisfaction. I would caution others to be wary of this model until these issues.

I felt like a kid on Christmas day when this showed up at my door. It was so artfully packaged I couldn't help but wonder how much extra I was paying for the slick package design. When unboxed, the machine itself looked pretty basic, but was surprisingly lightweight. I immediately took it outside to the garage to do some test runs. I took all the notes about the smell seriously and am glad I did because not only does the machine smell the first couple of rounds, but our garage smells like a fast food restaurant. I'm just going to keep the machine out there and operate from the garage. Garage operations aside, the air fryer works beautifully and cooks more evenly than the Ninja and the toaster oven air fryer built into my Breville. It's very easy to operate, and the rack stays put when you dump food out of it. My only complaint is the smells it leave behind, and I'm glad I have a space in the garage to air fry.
