  • Last about 3 years

I've used this paint for the last 6 years, painted the pool twice. For the first time I used it, 6 years ago, I lightly acid washed and then used TSP cleaner, power washed, then applied the paint. The paint went on without issue, then filled the pool, I use chlorine tablets in a dispenser for the pool, over the years the paint does fade, but I had no bubbling or flaking of paint, but I think it would be a stretch to get 5 years from it. I used the paint again in May 2024, I didn't acid wash this time as I didn't feel it needed it, but did clean with TSP and power washed, paint went on the same as before, and looks great. ... show more

  • Worked great and holding strong! Would definitely use again! Let dry 7 days! Worked great and holding strong! Would definitely use again! Let dry 7 days!

I did a complete pool overhaul on our 30+ year old in-ground concrete pool. As you can see in the pictures, it was in pretty rough shape! I was quoted $12k-15k for a new plaster job, which is not in our budget! So, I decided to paint it. This was my first time painting a pool, and this is my story. We live on the Georgia coast, right at sea level, so our first step before completely draining our pool was to locate the well point. If you live in an area with a high water table, contact the company that installed your in-ground pool and ask them if they installed a well point on your pool and, if so, where is it located. Any pool company worth its weight will pre-install this well point for your pool when they are constructing the pool itself. I connected our old pool pump / service pump to the well point and kept it running 24/7 while the pool was empty. It had a constant trickle of water, accompanied by large gusts of ground water every ~90 seconds. If you don't do this, you risk your pool floating like a ship! Once the pool was drained and pressure washed thoroughly, I rinsed it with muriatic acid, followed by TSP and lots of water. I found several de-laminated spots in the plaster where it was just crumbling or bubbling and coming off in sheets; all of that plaster had to be chipped up and removed to provide a sound surface. We removed a lot of the plaster on the bottom and patched the spots where exposed concrete was visible with a polymer-modified porcelain tile thinset. The rest we just left alone. Once all of the holes were patched, we swept the pool and prepped it for paint. The paint instructions say to apply the paint to a dry surface, so we let our pool dry in the Georgia sun for 2 days straight before painting. We checked the weather forecast to make sure we had at least 3-7 days of weather with no rain. I found that the instructions were correct on this; our paint adhesion got better and better with each passing day. We applied the first coat and let it dry for 4 hours. And despite the paint instructions to NOT apply paint in direct sunlight, we did anyway. It was extremely hot in the Georgia sun, but the paint still went on good and dried good. We applied the second coat -- which by the way goes on easier than the first coat -- and then cleaned up and called it a day. I then carefully pealed up the Frog painters tape off of the tile line. I noticed that the paint acted like it would easily peel off of the pool surface at this point -- like a cheap latex paint -- but I convinced myself that it just needed a lot of "cure time" to adhere to the concrete correctly. And this was correct! After 7 days of curing in the sun, the spots where I thought it would peel was now stuck on like glue and not going anywhere! Also, the 7 days also allowed for the globs of paint that dripped off of the rollers, that I never noticed or would have cleaned up! So long story short, this paint is excellent and I would definitely recommend it and buy it again. Just make sure you do your prep-work and follow up with care and it will look great. For our 18' x 36' pool (roughly 25k gallons), we used 8.5 gallons of "Ocean Blue" waterborne paint to two-coat it. With all supplies (Pool paint, Tiles, thinset, grout, etc.), we probably spent $2k total. INSL-X WR102309A-01 Waterborne, Semi-Gloss Pool Paint, 1 Gallon, Ocean Blue ... show more

  • Amazing. Awesome. Why didn't I purchase this BEFORE? Amazing. Awesome. Why didn't I purchase this BEFORE?
Color: Royal Blue Style: Paint
Non compensated review. Amazing product. Incredibly easy to apply and the results are almost too good to believe. Look at the difference in the pictures. Made the pool look like one of those pictures of the Greek Sea from Mikonos - beautiful, brilliant ultramarine. Coverage depends on porosity and pool plastic condition. Diluted Acid etching of pool plaster is a must, mandatory drying time before starting coating (otherwise you WILL have problems) and needs to be rain free drying period for 5 days when you start filling the pool. Use a sock or towel wrapped to the end of a hose to minimize damage when filling using a pool fill line or a hose - this will allow gentle filling of the pool without mechanical friction and abrasion of the pool lining. Apply with a high nap/long nap brush - i do not recommend spraying due to material loss and overspray. This material will almost immediately bond tightly with other surfaces so if you drop, mist, or spill clean it up immediately otherwise you will have a major problem removing it after it drys. Spillage on aggregate deck could not be burned off with propane torch, mechanically wire wheeled off - it required a 3,200PSI pressure washer on the most concentrated setting to slowly, oh so slowly remove. The product is absolutely amazing and makes for incredible results. A 13,000SF pool with 15 year old plaster required two gallons for multiple coats. I would recommend applying this product in the first year of your pool to eliminate etching, corrosion, and it will help tremendously with algae suppression. Paint endger, quality edge cut brush, long handle and high nap roller and disposable paint liners. ... show more

Color: Royal Blue Style: Paint
After 20 years our light blue Inground Florida pool faded to faded to white so we decided to resurface clean and paint it deep blue. We found this Royal blue and fell in love with it.. Our pool and others in our neighborhood are maintained year round by a professional pool maintenance company. Since they also painted some of our neighbors pools in the past we decided to use them for this project instead of trying to do it ourselves. That was April 2022. As you can see from the Before & After pictures the results were striking dramatic and gorgeous. The color lasted For 3 months until July 2022 when we started noticing that the color was getting Lighter and lighter. In August we started noticing a dark dust On the pool floor that kept getting heavier and heavier while while the color of the pool kept getting lighter and lighter and lighter. Now 5 months later it looks like our pool was pool was never painted and there is always a never ending granular blue dust all over the bottom of our pool.. We purchased 10 gallons of this paint at $70 a gallon and had a professionally installed with 3 Coats . It not only looks like we never had our pool painted it is pool painted it is now full of this blue dust. I have been trying for a month to no Avail to Get through to the company but all my emails go unanswered. Stay away from this stuff. All of our neighbors pools painted by The same company that did mine with paint that was half the price have beautiful pools and mine looks like garbage. I was hoping to get a few years out of a professional pool painting instead I got barely 3 months. The job Took 8 gallons and I gave the other 2 gallons To my friend 2 towns over to painter ingrown spa and she has reported the same results ... show more

Worth the money! Easy to apply with beautiful results! So happy with this purchase! Our gunite pool was included with our home when we purchased it back in 2013. Over time the finish went from a soft aquamarine color to almost white. My husband meticulously cleaned the pool and made repairs before applying paint. I believe we went through about 9 cans of paint. Cheaper than hiring a professional! Be patient and don’t rush the process. ... show more

  • Paint Flaking Concerns
Color: Aquamarine Style: Paint
The finish is absolutely awesome. But, on the 2nd day of the curing stage, we're seeing flaking spots show up. The pool was properly prepped and free of any debris. The pool is still empty and I've ordered another gallon to fix the spots. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
