I decided to finally upgrade from my $40 scanner I bought from Amazon about 5 years ago and went with this scanner. First off it’s very affordable for the features it comes with. I’ve seen reviews of people saying it’s difficult to use and what not. For me it was fairly simple. Yes, it was a bit of a learning curve but not difficult by any means. It will read engine, transmission and Abs codes. My favorite feature is the ability to connect to an app on your phone which lets you really see the different possible fixes for your code as well as it give you links to where you can buy the parts you need to fix your issue. You can see live data, but the best feature I found was you could get a vehicle history report through the app for only $10 which is much cheaper than car fax. For someone who flips cars that is an amazing affordable feature. I still have yet get a good use out of it, but from what I’ve seen it is a great product 100% recommend.

This review covers my initial impression of the Innova 5310. I haven't had the opportunity to use it for an actual diagnosis and repair. The unit is well-built and has clearly readable messages on the display. The manual is well written with both a good overview of OBDII and clear directions and illustrations. I performed the first update and the directions are easy to follow and everything worked as described; it supports both Mac and Windows. This wasn't the case with a competing brand that I first bought - updates were a study in solving computer problems and the manuals were minimal. The user interface - the display and the buttons - is a little clunky but not bad and easy enough to learn. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. This review will be updated when I have an opportunity to do actual repair and monitoring with the 5310.

The 5310 is very lite weight and easy to handle when working in the floor of my vehicles. Screen is very bright and easy to read. Cable is more than long enough to stand and review the data while connected. My one complaint is no paper quick start guide. It is difficult to read the online manual while connected via Bluetooth to the 5310. Flipping between the 5310 app and the online guide is a challenge when starting up and, especially, when accessing advanced features. I was pleased to find the 5310 would reset my minor error codes (gas cap issue).

This product is addictive. It is as simple is plugging it into a car and you now know what the issues that car has. It also shows all the recommended services as well. This is a good tool to have, even though I am not a mechanic. The only downside I could think of is that you now know the issues your car has, and it is quite worrisome if you car needs a major repair. If you want to know what is going on with your car, this is a tool you should have! Totally worth the money, my opinion.

Super easy operation. Menu is easy to understand and use. Used to check codes on a used truck. Found history of several codes, cleared them. Then found one glow plug code that was setting the CEL. Installed glow plug, cleared code...all is good. Lightweight unit, but seems durable. I feel well worth the price for the automotive D.I.Y.er

Much better working and much cheaper alternative is the MOTOPOWER BRAND.. Which is only about $20.00 compared to this $100.00 unit that gave false readings and was very Slow in comparison to MOTOPOWER Reader I have.
