The first clue that something is wrong is that the manual tells you that you must turn on location and GPS for the app to work. There is zero need for either of those in communicating the temperature of four probe tips to a phone app via WiFi. Then, only revealed when one attempts to install one of the two supported apps - BBQ-4T and Inkbird Pro - is that they demand carte blanche access to your phone; see the attached photos of the access requirements: Device & App history, Identity, Contacts, Location, Photos/Media/Files, Camera, WiFi Connection information, Bluetooth Connection information, Device ID & Call information. They need to see your Contacts to tell you what the temperature probe in your back yard is measuring? Your Photos/Media/Files too? And Camera access - merely being perverts would be one of the better reasons for this. Where does all of this get sucked up to? It should be obvious that these are not remotely necessary - this access is being demanded for some other reason. Unless you're confident that you know what it is, and will happily pass, say, your email history to an entity that has already lied to you about their services, pressing 'Accept' to grant these accesses is foolish. ... show more

Disappointed in this product and Inkbird customer service. One of the key features I was looking for is the ability to see graphed trend of my cooks. The app hasn’t been working for this for over a week now and after numerous back and forth emails with inkbird, they have stopped responding. Disappointed that one of the key features I bought this specific therm for, does not work. Hopefully they can resolve this issue quickly. ... show more

UPDATE: So I’ve had two probes malfunction. I’ve tried several times to contact InkBird...Unfortunately their customer service is non-existent. Will not be buying their products any longer. Downgrading to 1 star due to poor customer service. Not a bad unit. I like the Wi-Fi functionality and the fact that you can calibrate the probes from within the app. Only giving 4 stars for the fact that there is no audible signal sent to your phone once a set temp is reached. ... show more

Holy cow, this is an awesome deal. Top quality. I have a fireboard, much more expensive, like 3x times the price or more. This is every bit as good as it is. I have only used it once but the probes are color coded which makes it easy to tell them apart, on my other ones I had to wrap a piece of tape or colored rubber bands bands around them to know which probe was which because they usually get tangled up. Of course when doing that you have will have to replace the tape or rubberbands often depending on the temps. I have many wireless thermometers etc as I bbq a lot. I have very high end stuff, and this is every night as good. I have tested these probes to determine how accurate they are and they are very accurate so far. I have attached some pics and then the result of my first time using them. Of course I've been smoking briskets etc for a long time ... show more

I first bought the bluetooth version which supposedly had 150ft range, sitting on my couch in front of the door 20ft away the bluetooth model would drop signal to my grill so I sent it back. At first this wifi thermometer was amazing! You could set low alerts and it would make a loud noise on my iPhone and my Apple Watch. This was a critical feature for me since I have an old house and if someone turns on some devices while the grill is running then sometimes the breaker can blow. You could also bring up a nice graph to see how your food was cooking overnight, see if there were any dips or any problems. Great device, well worth the $100. Then Inkbird updated the app and removed the graph and alerts. Alerts now only work if you have the app open and your phone on. No more notifications. And the graphs, no data at all. No cook history, no nothing. To me this is worth about $50 so the pricetag is way too high unless they fix the problem. I've reached out to them over the app and email and they haven't responded so I don't anticipate a fix. ... show more

    • Factory probe calibration was spot on, app is a bit bloated with other smart home tech.

This product was fairly easy to set up. The probes are 120cm/3.9 feet long and I plugged them all in and let them sit at room temperature on a metal pan to see what they read. All probes registered the same ambient temperature as my nearby AC thermostat displayed with no variations between them. I only used one probe while cooking 22 lbs of boston butt to make pulled pork, and there it also matched the temp shown on my bbq controller's probe. The cook was low and slow at 225 degrees max, but went for 22+ hours with no issues with the temp probes. I'd have given it 4 stars but the app you have to use is apparently a smart home app and was trying to prompt me to set up all kinds of SH devices in addition to just this thermometer. Took me a while to navigate through all that and just get to what I needed to monitor temps. ... show more
