This seems to be all you would need for hot and cold therapy for minor aches and pains, particularly around the joints. I have osteoarthritis in my right knee and for whatever reason it has flared up recently. It comes with two inserts, so you can always have one hot and one cold. It has a nice soft pouch for the insert which is attached to a good ace type bandage with Velcro to wrap around the joint area. Good quality, instructions recommend a 600w microwave to heat.. which is pretty small. Then tells you that if you overheat it could explode. We have a 1200w microwave, so not entirely sure on how much time to heat if we do. Kind of afraid to try to half the time, probably will do 15 seconds at a time until a suitable temperature. Haven't frozen yet, but put in a 40 degree fridge and used. Kept cold on my hand for about 30 minutes without using a towel or the included pocket with straps. I can see the fabric where the velcro attaches getting ripped up if used a lot. It is velcro on fabric, not velcro on velcro. ... show more

This was a great buy. When I split my forehead open last year and had 10 stitches put in, these cold packs were a blessing. They really helped my forehead feel better. So glad that I had them. Great ice pack set for pain relief. My wife used it for a painful bicep pull, and likes it very much. Great that it comes with 2 gelpacs so you always have one cold. Pouch and strap are easy to use and strap is long enough to use for a variety of injuries.

The product is good however instructions were iffy. There was no information about how to attach the loose end of the band on the open end of the compress wrap. It took a while to figure it out on my own. Also the microwave heating of the compress was spotty no matter how many extra minutes I gave it to go from cold to warm. There was always a spot that didn't warm up. Perhaps the compress should not go from freezer cold to be warmed up, but should be at room temperature first.
