This is the perfect wavemaker for my 20 gallon aquarium. I previously had one of the cheaper $15 suction cup ones but it was large and quite noisy (and bacteria would get stuck behind the suction and smell bad). This wavemaker is absolutely amazing. It is small and sleek and blends right into the black background of my tank. It is super advanced with 3 oscillating patterns (and constant) and adjusting intensity. Its super easy to use. It makes super low noise but a slight hum which i find soothing (I sleep in the same room as my tank) After getting this wavemaker my fish became so much happier with the natural like flow. The magnetic attachment to the wall is so convenient to move because you dont have to reach in the water. Got this for my 16 gallon nano tank. Works great and easy to setup and use. Can’t even hear it run and doesn’t take much electricity. Great value! I would say it’s a small but mighty power head! Definitely recommend!!!

I used the Hygger 222 to replace my older combination of a 175 gph Aqua Clear 30 and Korilia 425 gph. It provides a better flow for my EVO 13.5 and I no longer need a fan blowing over my tank to keep it cool. It is practically silent when operating in the pulse mode at 10% power which I chose. I may increase the flow if needed as my corals are adapting to the new flow very well. I haven’t noticed any dead spots accumulating detritus. It gives the tank a cleaner appearance in my opinion. I tried mounting it on the left black sump wall at first and it really disappeared against the black wall but the plastic sump wall reverberated the sound too much for my liking and the flow wasn’t as natural as what I wanted. By mounting it on the right glass end of the tank pointed back towards my filter pump return nozzles the random flow is much better. I do have RFG nozzles on each return pump outlet. I did upgrade the stock 130 gph filter pump to a 210 gph pump. I am completely satisfied with the Hygger 222 for my tank. ... show more

    • Poor quality and a waste of $40

Terrible product. $40 for something that doesnt a month is sad. The modes would be cool... if they were adjustable and not at full power no mater what. The included filter would be cool... if it was even close to the right size. Even on the lowest setting it was always too much for my 20 gallon so the 5-10 gallon recommendation is just for worlpool simulation. It lasted 3 weeks, then seized and had to be cleaned out to turn it back on. Less than 3 days later, its dead completely even after cleaning. Too much power, poor stability, it was easy to install, but thats not saying much. It clogged so fast and was never actually good until it did. Not to mention they sent me a dirty used one that was missing half the pieces the first time. ... show more

I love being able to change the flow and it works great in my 10 gallon. The thing that would make it better is if could be rotated side to side or up and down without having to move it around the tank.

This works well and is easy to operate. I have a 7 gallon drop off tank and it seems pretty powerful for that size. I’m going to give it a few before I decide whether to switch it to a bigger tank that’s preparing for seahorses. I like the small size and the ability to change the discs that will make different flow patterns. I think that’s really cool.
