My Zebra ZP450 recently died, I thought it was a good printer at first, good BOLD prints, stops properly between labels, etc.. but as time went on it started acting erratically and constantly needed re-calibration and prints just randomly failed. Originally I was going to replace it with another Zebra but I decided to go another route. I've been using HP printers for decades, still printing to my 25+ year old HPLJ4100 printer so I decided to try out this HP label printer. In short, I'm extremely happy with it. Simple plug-n-play installation. I have a server in my office so have it connected via USB to the server and shared to my workstations. I have no issues mapping to the printer from my workstations, no manual intervention was required and drivers installed automatically. Prints are SUPER sharp at 300dpi. Stops properly between perforated labels and is MUCH quieter then the Zebra. I print hundreds of shipping labels per month and this printer will pay itself off in no time. ... show more

    • Exactly what you need to run a small business on a Mac

As a fledgling small business owner who needs to print shipping labels and other small labels I needed a printer that would just work. I tried a high end Zebra printer use on a Mac was difficult. I also tried a $100 printer from Amazon that printed ok but the 200 DPI caused issues with labels scanning. The biggest issue with the cheap printer was it struggled to calibrate to differing label sizes which led to its return. I decided to give this HP a try as it does not require proprietary (ie expensive) labels, can print in 300 DPI and works well on my Mac. I am pleasantly surprised with how quick it prints labels, quickly calibrates to label sizes and just works without much effort natively on a mac. Very happy with this workhorse. ... show more

This HP label printer has been nothing but a headache since the moment I unboxed it. Right away, I noticed it didn’t look brand new—there were signs of prior use, and it honestly feels like a refurbished or second-hand unit that was repackaged without any disclosure. Worse, it refuses to install properly. I followed all the setup instructions ONLINE because there was no instruction included, tried multiple computers and even re-downloaded the software—nothing worked. I've wasted hours trying to get it running, and all I’ve gotten is frustration and lost time I’ll never get back. I expected better from HP. This printer was the perfect mix of ease & cost. There are cheaper options for label printing, but this is the only one I could find that was true plug & play without any need for driver or software installation. This allowed me to start printing labels next day without having to wait a week for IT to investigate and install anything. This printer only prints half a page when printing a PDF directly from any PDF reader app. I have to import the file into CorelDraw or another vector application like Affinity Designer, Inkscape, or Illustrator to get it to work. Not a happy camper.
