Part of my reason for researching and buying this vacuum was visiting with some people in an RV Resort that wanted to compare the difference between the layout of my coach and theirs (we had the same manufacturer, model, and year (but theirs was 2' longer and the interior was a slightly different layout. When I went in their coach, the one thing that caught my attention was dog fur. It was in the corners, on the stairs, and I could see massive amounts in the cockpit area. I have one 25lb. dog that travels with me and he sheds. So when I got back in my coach, I ran my fingers across the carpet and was surprised to find fur. I was vacuuming twice per week, so I never expected to scrape a handful of fur out of my carpet with my fingers. I needed to find out why. I have a 40' coach that I bought as the second owner. It had an earlier model of this vacuum in it (Dirt Devil 950 model). I used it a few times and it was 'okay', but I had a beater brush that was brand new and when I tried it, the 950 could barely spin the beater bar - so I never used it. Then, I made a terrible discovery that turned out to be pretty dumb on my part - there was no catch bag in the vacuum! So the stuff I was vacuuming up was being blown through the motor and throughout the storage areas under my coach. Well, I put a vacuum bag in and the performance of the vacuum dropped dramatically. I went looking to see what to do. I pretty much was going to have to toss the old unit and go with the newer 9880 Dirt Devil. I ordered through Amazon and it arrived as expected. Installation: since I already had the 950 in place, installation was unfairly easy. Unmount the old, mount the new. First Use: OMG! This thing is amazing. The sound of the air being moved through it lets you know its potential. I hooked up my hose and a sweeper attachment and was amazed. Finger fur test: No sign of fur or hair on the carpet EVER. Beater Bar test: CRAZY GOOD. The beater bar is spinning at breakneck speed. Sounds like a supercharger on a big block engined car. This thing is turning as so high of RPMS that I worry that it might blow into pieces! It's truly awesome for hitting my carpets and the furniture. OVERALL IMPRESSIONS: It's great! Makes it fun to vacuum when you feel the suction that it has and you realize how productive it is to use. I can vacuum my whole coach (thoroughly) in about 7 minutes. I'm writing this review after having the 9880 for several weeks. It was a great investment to keep my coach clean and dog fur-free. My 1999 Monaco coach had a 20 year old version of this when I bought it. It worked for a while but wasn't impressive. Then I found out why. The bag had come off inside the unit and it had been filling the motor cavity with debris. By the time I noticed that the old one had given up the ghost. So, I took a chance and ordered this new version. Hookup was super simple as everything was already basically set up. But, even if it was a fresh install it wouldn't be very hard. This thing feels like twice the suction of the old one! I'm very, very impressed! The accessories are good. The extendable wand is a really nice touch. The floor/carpet attachment is OK but I ordered a nicer one with real horse hair and well thought out gaps in the brushes to allow good pickup. That guy is working perfectly on both the hard floors and carpet. One other bonus if you are replacing an old unit is you now have 2 of the stretchy hoses to chain together! They are nice quality and even my 20 year old one is just fine. My coach is 40 ft so the single hose is just not quite enough without a lot of tension on it. Dirt Devil needs to offer an extension hose! Buy this setup! You will be super happy with it. You lose none of the valuable space in your coach/trailer compared to even the slimmest of portable vacuums. ... show more

This CV is great!! After a few installation bugs (of my own creation), I finally got it up and running right and I couldn't be happier! I was kinda skeptical whether it would produce the suction I was hoping for. There was no need to worry. It has more than enough power to deep clean my carpeting. Another big plus is that it's small enough to be hidden out of sight. I put the motor unit inside a wasted space area under my kitchen counter and enlarged the air intake vent so I could get in there to change out the filter bag easily. Also, I don't like dragging things in and out of storage areas so I managed to put up a garden hose hanger behind my recliner (out of sight) to hold my vacuum hose so it's not something I have to move around every time I want to vacuum. Being centrally located I can stretch the hose from one end of my RV to the other. I highly recommend this Dirt Devil RV central vac. I'm so glad I bought it. ... show more
