I have 3 of these and similar printers, the pagewide printer is the only way to go, prints fast and great color, use it to print pictures and does great, ues to print labels too and no problem. Look at the size of the ink cartridges, these will last for a long time with thousands of prints. That alone is enough to buy this printer, the ease of adding the ink cartridges , the speed, it's reliable, can't believe others have not found this out yet, Won't be disappointed. ... show more

When it works it's great! But it seems like when it's idle for a day, it can't wake up and when it does, it goes into a firmware error . . . on/off button doesn't work . . . I have to unplug it and plug it back in, then it works ok. Very frustrating. Did I get a lemon?

    • I really wanted to love this printer but learned to hate it.

Pros; Printer is extremely fast for an inkjet. Print Quality is great on text and good on a lot of graphics with exceptions (see cons below). Duplexing feature is great for 2-sided printing and helps speed up overall print times if making 2-sided prints. Heavy duty and built for mid to high volumes. stationary print heads should ensure high volume wear printhead carriage assembly. Connectivity is good. I had no problems setting it up and it has never lost connection when I needed it. The printer has an interesting feature where you can send prints via an email address assigned to the printer allowing printing from anywhere you might have an internet connection, even halfway around the world. Cons; Print Quality is good at times and substandard at other times and depends on the graphics being printed. Evenly toned areas tend to have print gaps at regular intervals and is caused by staggered segments on the head being slightly out of alignment with no way to correct. Print quality also suffers terribly if printing is performed irregularly. After allowing the printer to go unused for a few weeks I have been unable to get a good print since because of weak areas of density that run the length of the page top to bottom. The value of the ink I've wasted running cleaning cycles is probably as much as I paid for the printer. This may not be a problem if you use the printer every day. Firmware errors have plagued me since day one. The printer has thrown random error codes that suggest restarting the printer might solve the error. The biggest problem is the printer won't shutdown properly as it's supposed to and locks up while trying. This always requires me to pull the plug which is then followed by a message telling me that it wasn't shut down properly. Even worse is on startup the printer will often make extremely loud, violent noises that indicate internal components crashing against one another. Now the printer tells me there is a jam between the printhead behind the ink access door and instructs me to remove the jam. Removing the cartridges as instructed gives access to an area where no paper can pass and has no jam. In fact, since the printhead doesn't move it makes no sense that a jam would affect printhead movement. The external paper tray stopped working after maybe 200 prints passed through it, the pickup roller just doesn't lower enough to contact the paper. I suspect it was during one of the loud crashes I describe above but have no way of knowing. I have installed a full set of XL cartridges at a cost of more than the printer. The cartridges have about 50% levels after maybe 1-200 pages of low color prints. The vast majority of the ink has been wasted on cleaning cycles trying to get acceptable prints. ... show more

An update, from the reseller’s perspective the printer was sold to me as used and the collateral items while accessible on the internet were not included. They did however provide them on my request and as well HP branded cartridges. My expectations were to receive a refurbished printer. In the end I have changed my rating. This reseller is misleading at best. First, HP makes a quality product however, this reseller DOES NOT meet HP’S standards for quality. By this I mean items represented by the web site as being “in the box” WERE NOT shipped, they include software CDs, install guide, USB cable, and cartridges. In the spirit of full disclosure, they did accept a return which is the worst option however, repacking and shipping back is a very unsatisfactory customer experience. . I bought this printer back in early March 2017.We print about 150 envelopes a day on Kraft paper and this printer has been fantastic. The best we have ever had. The ink lasts forever. The XL cartridges are expensive but we have only had to replace two cartridges since March! Initially there were teething problems with connections and getting it to work (I did not read the instructions).... Since then this printer has been awesome. I am seriously thinking of buying another. ... show more
