Truly grand addition to our home. Chimes are wonderful. Arrived by truck freight exactly when promised. I helped the driver bring the box in the house and set it close to the final location. It didn't take long to unpack and place the clock in its permanent location. Instructions were clear and accurate. It is critical for the cabinet to be exactly level in all directions. I thought I had it that way but after starting the clock the beat was not correct. I then did a better job of leveling the cabinet and the beat was then exactly correct. My only minor disappointment (and it is quite minor) is that even though there is a light inside the clock, it is not possible to read the time when the room is dark. The light illuminates the inside movement and does show through the moon dial, illuminating stars in the graphics. The main clock face is totally dark and cant be read until a room lite is turned on. Again, no big deal but it would be nice to read it when the room is dark. My wife and I will cherish this fine clock for many years. I highly recommend this clock. ... show more

The finishes on the clock are subpar. The clock face is made of plastic. I expected it to be metal at this price point. Top of the clock is held on by 4 large staples. These are readily visible but again, I expected better workmanship for this money. The "white glove" delivery was anything but. They would only drop in the garage and tried to use Covid as an excuse for not doing the white glove delivery. Meanwhile they saved money on shipping by not proving it and did not pass on the savings to the consumer. I'm very disappointed with the product and the service they provided. ... show more

I will be the first to admit - purchasing a Grandfather clock through Amazon seemed like a gamble. Logically, who spends all this money when they can't physically see the item until it's unpacked and set up? Well, this is one gamble that I won big time! The clock is truly magnificent. This is an amazingly beautiful Grandfather clock! The finishes and construction are absolutely flawless and the quality is amazing. The clock arrived by special freight carrier, was easy to setup and immediately changed the entire atmosphere of the room where we placed it. In fact, it is so majestic, my wife was saying we need a "grander" house to put it in. I'm very happy with this purchase and it will be an heirloom item to pass down to generations! ... show more

I purchased this clock or one very, very similar to it in 1992, long before Amazon appeared on the scene. I have now moved it through four houses in two different states. It is a magnificent clock. Just a word of caution to those of you considering acquiring this clock, be sure to either have it serviced by a qualified locksmith every couple of years or learn how to properly oil the movement. The movement will last approximately 20-25 years if cared for and then may start to fail. They are expensive to replace the the German supplier has just gone out of business. Movements are available but who knows for how long. ... show more
