I ordered this as a gift for my mom n dad who live in an RV and when they got it and started using it it started smoking from where the knob is to turn the burner on. My dad had to take it apart and mess with the wiring just for them to use it.

Got this as an exchange for one that was mis-marked wattage in the ad. Works fine, has a bump glitch in the knob turning on, but doesn't seem to matter. Surface stays warm for unusually long time after use. Heavier, solid base not susceptible to imbalanced tipping.

I tried to boil 4 cups water and after 40 minutes it never got above 160 degrees. I tried again with just 2 cups water and after 30 minutes it was still at 160 degrees. I was using a pan almost the exact diameter of the burner and it was set on the highest setting the whole time.
