I have this in my 5 gallon because I was wanting an adjustable heater rather than the pre-set ones. I like this one but you have to set it lower than what your desired temperature is. To stay at a steady 78 degrees, i have mine set at about 74 degrees. But other than that it seems to work just fine.

I use these for breeding my shrimp and keeping fish it works great they are cheap they are adjustable and they are just as accurate as bigger brand name preset ones. Ok now to the drawbacks Reading the settings is a bit finnicky Some of them seem to have a bit of a springy quality to the adjuster knob so you adjust the temp and it bounces back to a lower temp I’ve never had any fail but I’d reccomend not getting the higher wattage ones cause they could kill your fish if they go into thermal runaway but these are so cheap it’s not a big deal to buy 3 100 wattt ones instead of 1 300 watt one ... show more

So I bought two to use together. However, because of the inconsistency of the units it has been unbelievably difficult to tune them together. They run about 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit hot. I have to set them to 72 to get them to shut off at about 75 Also, for some reason they both shut off and start up at completely different times..the technique ive been doing is seeing which shuts off first (at desired temperature on secondary thermometer) and then if the other is still running, ill tune it down until it shuts off. This has continued to result in the one that shut off first kicking on before the one i tuned down...this is a HUGE problem using 2 because that means one will always kick on before the other and do the heating.
