  • Not a Heater but a Fire Display Only with Quality Issues
Color: Hammered Bronze Style: Heater
I purchased 3 of these patio heaters. Overall really disappointed with this product for a few reasons. 1) I had read reviews on this product before I purchased these and noticed a few comments about the heater not really heating much at all. I thought maybe the expectation was a bit too high but these heaters really don't heat at all but really is a fire display only. This product really shouldn't be called a patio heater. It's effective range is really less than 1 foot. You got to be literally next to this heater to feel anything. AZ Patio Heater makes another model that has no fire display and has a round top hood. That model indicates a range of 10-12 foot diameter. This same company advertises no range for this heater which I understand why they left that info out on this model. The top hood is small which I think is part of the problem. The fire display itself is really nice so I find that I will probably use this as a show piece during the summer rather than use it to warm you up during early spring and fall. 2) I had quality issues with the top hood and the protective guards (cage panel). 2 of the 3 units came with hoods that had bent corners and a few gouges. I also had many paint chippings on almost all the protective guards. You may not find paint chips a big deal but once the exposed steel starts to rust it will eventually get under the paint and continue to corrode all over. Not to mention that some of the exposed steel will contact the aluminum frame if the paint chips are in that area and cause galvanic corrosion. The packing of the product was very good with exception of the protective guards. The guards were package together allowing to contact one another which would increase the likely hood of paint chips. Everything else was packaged individually. Really no excuse for the bent corners on the hood or the paint chips. There obviously is no quality control in place for these things. I ended up returning 2 of these fire displays for replacements. One replacement was perfect. Absolutely no issues. The other replacement had the same issues. Top hood with bent corners and paint chippings on all of the protective guards. I am sending one of the replacements back. I really think AZ Patio should make the protective guards out of stainless steel instead of painting them. I think it would like better and no paint chips to worry about. I would have even paid a little more to have stainless steel. 3) AZ Patio Heaters warranty is a joke in my opinion. When I had issues with the top hood and protective guards, I initially contacted AZ Patio via phone to get replacements parts for my damaged parts because I didn't want to deal with having to return a large item. The lady told me to email the warranty department at warranty@azpatioheaters.com and they would take care of me. Well I emailed them with attached pictures on March 10 and never heard anything from them. This is why I ended up returning 2 of units back to Amazon. Luckily Amazon took care of me. Really no excuse for any response from AZ Patio. Even if they were going to deny the claim for whatever reason they could have at least responded. So after all the issues, I have 2 fire displays which I will keep for entertainment purposes. I doubt the warranty they advertise is worth anything in my opinion. I will probably not buy any product from this company ever again. ... show more

  • Buy it for ambiance, not for heat
Color: Hammered Bronze Style: Heater
The media could not be loaded. I"ve posted a video withan unboxing and review. But this is a patio you buy for ambiance, not for heat. It puts out a small amount, but if you're buying it for heat you probably won't be happy. If you're buying it to make your backyard sexy though, you'll be over the moon! Color: Hammered Bronze Style: Heater
Very pleased with this product - I hesitated at first reading some mixed reviews but here is my honest take on this item. Delivered by UPS as promised on time, packaging superior, likely 15-20 lbs of packaging I took to the garage after removing everything, every piece wrapped / boxed separate inside a main box. Directions laser printed, to me, very clear, every screw marked with a AA / CC etc designation and where to place it on the unit. Unpacked and assembled in 1 hour. No complaint on directions, they were crystal clear. High quality components, well manufactured, Glass tube was very well packaged and again each piece was precisely manufactured, I was really impressed. Similar unit at Lowes / Home Depot was $299-$399. Put gas tank in - turned on, very little heat at first but after 3 minutes or so when the top receiving burner and top plate heat up / very happy / very hot. Estimate 5-6 foot diameter from unit of heating, more than adequate. You can't expect the same heat out of this that you get from the other heaters that have the large satellite dish thing at the top. Flames go 1/2 way up glass tube on low, all the way to the top on high setting. Aesthetically pleasing. Now that I've gotten this one, my plan was to get another to put on the other side of patio so I'll be ordering today. If you're not good at assembly you may ask someone to help you, I had no issue at all. 2 assembly things to look out for. (1) make absolutely sure that when you put the base plate on (one side of it has two 1" wide notches) that side of the base must be and inline directly with the burner regulator knobs (unit) that goes on next above it. The notches are where the swivel door rests in to hinge in and out - if you don't line up the notches on the base plate, inline with the burner knobs (burner unit) 3 feet above it you'll get to disassemble and start over. Also, when putting the (3) side panels on the base, lightly hand-screw all 6 screws in first, then tighten. Do this on all 3 sides to make sure you get the screws in, then tighten all 18 screws at once. Oh - I also liked the fact that the grills that go on the 4-sides do not heat up - I have twin 10 year olds that are already very curious about the flames but the side grills are cool to the touch with all the heat generating from the top of the unit that's 7' tall. The dancing flames that go up the tube are very neat to look at. This is a great heater for the price, very happy in Clearwater , FL . ... show more

  • Good heater,
Color: Hammered Bronze Style: Heater
The media could not be loaded. No issues with poor quality control. Parts lined up fine, flame is centered under glass tube. So some negative reviews might just have had bad batches or units. Heater takes a bit of patience putting together but instructions are actually very clear and accurate. Just pay attention to small details. For example, when looking at assembly-step pictures, make sure you know which side is front & back of the unit. (You'll know the back side by the 4 small holes on the bottom base plate where the wheels screw into). Or on the vertical arms, if you don't look closely at the picture to see that one end of the arm has a hole, one does not, you can end up trying to mount parts upside down. Take your time. With 2 of us, taking few short breaks for chips and snacks, it took about 90 minutes to assemble. Unit is tall. Like, almost scraped the ceiling putting the top part on. Also, lighting is easy, but different than your typical barbecue. It's more like a water heater or indoor gas heater. You turn knob to pilot, press and hold in, while pushing ignite button. PILOT will light (not the main flame). Wait about 30-60 seconds, release knob. Pilot should stay lit. If it doesn't start over. If it stays lit, then rotate knob to ignite the main burner. ... show more
