I got this because I don't want to get a big 'insta pot'' but I heard that pressure cooker hard-boiled eggs are easy to peel. It does really work. I think the build quality, fit and finish seem excellent. It's a clever mechanism for sealing the lid as opposed to the heavy, cast aluminum, interlocking teeth and twist on pressure canners I've used before. The method that works for me is put the eggs inside on a reck, with 1 cup water, seal up the lid, get it boiling. Once steams coming out the vent, put their little weight on there. Once it vents, they call it a "whistle", I'd call it more of a blast. It's a little terrifying. Steam shoots out in 4 different directions. I would not want the kids next to it when it was cooking. Once the weight is on, time 3 minutes, shut off the heat for 10 minutes let it cool and then put the eggs in ice water. Once they've cooled off enough to handle crack them and they slip out amazingly easy. Try it, you'll like it. ... show more

Easy to close*: Yep. Hawkins uses the classic "inside-fitting lid" with a simple locking handle. You just set the lid in, turn, and it locks. Way easier than the big screw-on lids, especially one-handed. - *Very safe*: This is why Hawkins is famous. It has 5 safety features: controlled gasket release, safety valve, proper pressure regulator, sturdy handles, and thick base. The aluminum body is also a good heat conductor so pressure stays stable. Just always check the gasket and vent pipe before use. - *Cooks meat really fast*: 100%. Pressure cookers cut cooking time by about 70%. Tough meats like goat, beef, chicken, or oxtail that take 1.5-2 hours on a pot will be tender in 20-35 mins in this. Perfect for curries, stews, and soup meat. ... show more

    • The WORST Pressure cooker ever made !!!

The worst pressure cooker. Makes a very loud sound ever few second that hurts the ears. After two uses the contents inside start spewing out as the cooker opens to release the pressure. I only wish I could return it, instead I have to throw it in the trash. On the third use of this product it became a hazard it actually shoots the hot liquid out with high pressure. This product should not be on the market I know we are smarter and have created better pressure cookers then this. If you have read this review I have most likely saved your life or a loved ones from getting injured from this products. For those that have not read it I can only pray. ... show more

    • 1.5 ltr, Single quick cooking machine!

I got this to use on my small propane cooker, primarily for truck trips, I like it, it works well for making basic simple camp meals, 3/4 cups of rice and fish (tilapia from the pond) cut in small chunks with broccoli/ cauliflower cooked up in about 3mins. We have a bigger older pressure cooker we use often but its too big an heavy to take on road trips. Mind u its not something you would hook onto your pack for dismounted hikes but for truck camping and making meals in the barn it works great. The manual that comes with it is also impressive, very thorough with parts break down illustrations, detailed illustrated instructions and recipes, its all well articulated not like some of the poorly translated single page made in China instructions (honestly I rarely ever read instructions being a man :) this P cooker is worth if it for sure if you need to cook quickly using minor amounts of fuel. Just for giggles I used it on a rocket stove (solo cooker) yep it worked you have to be careful to balance it correctly and it can be frustrating too add fuel but it will work. Also works on camp white gas stoves and propane for those that are taking care of fundamental readiness preps. I did not experience any of the fouled vent issues and yea the pot changed color who cares its a pot, albeit a well manufactured piece of kit. ... show more
