I bought the HausRoland Whistling Tea Kettle 3.2 Quart Stainless Steel Stove Top Induction Modern Kettle Teapot (GS-04048-A-730G, Rainbow) for use on my new induction “burner” because my old kettle did not have enough ferrous (magnetic) material to be used on the induction “burner”. Pros: • Really does hold 3.1 quarts • Conducive to use with induction “burners” o Boils 2 quarts of water in 8 minutes compared to boiling the same amount of water on a gas burner which takes 12 minutes or more. • Attractive – I like the varied colors • In handle button for opening/closing spout cover saves fingers from being steamed when opening the cover to pour • Whistle is loud enough to hear in another room but not ear-piercing when right next to it • Kettle lid fits snugly so heat/steam does not escape while heating or just sitting Cons: • Inconvenient to fill o The handle does not move to the side so pouring from a pitcher hits it and cannot be emptied so the pitcher must be filled a second time to fill the kettle o Filling through the spout from a tap is ridiculous. It is awkward and small hands will have trouble holding the kettle steady. Plus, tap water is usually not filtered, so many contaminants that cannot be removed by boiling (arsenic, lead, etc.) will be concentrated in kettle water. • Lid is too snug o Because the handle does not move it prevents simple lid removal. User must hook two fingers into the lid handled and the rest of the hand over the handle then “squeeze” to lift the lid. It works, but a moveable handle would improve the process. It seems well-made but I'm no tea pot aficionado. It's pretty and I love how it looks on my stove. I haven't actually used it for tea yet but it's a esthetically pleasing and gives me joy. Pretty sure it will boil water fine someday when it's not 200 degrees outside in Arizona! Don't feel like having my stove on much at the moment. ... show more
