The media could not be loaded. Don’t let the subscription deter you, this alarm clock is completely usable without it. The monthly subscription is mainly for more sounds and bedtime stories, plus 2 added steps to your sleep/wake routine which are ‘Unwind’ and ‘Morning Moment’. I’d suggest setting up some routines while on the free version, to get the feel of it first; then get the free trial and immediately cancel it, so you don’t get charged but can try it out for a month. If you realize that you like the subscription version more than the free: the monthly price is $5 totaling to $60 a year, and the yearly subscription is $50. The sunrise feature is super customizable, you can have the dim lamp go very bright within 5 minutes or up to an hour. There’s 28 different sleep sounds, 12 sunrises, and 13 alarm sounds to choose from without a subscription. Hatch claims this alarm is science-backed in lulling you to sleep but also waking you up gradually and peacefully. Listening to sleep sounds definitely helps me stay asleep for most of the night; whereas before, I’d wake up numerous times every single night. Also I can for sure say that after having this clock for a few months, not once have I woken up to a jarringly loud alarm and jumped out of bed after realizing I snoozed all of my phone alarms. The biggest issue is that it relies on a constant WiFi/power connection. If a cell tower nearby goes down or there’s no power, you’re stuck without an alarm clock. (Aug. ‘24) I got the Restore 2 in the Putty color, it’s a lighter tan with a hint of pink. The video I included shows the Brown Noise sleep sound and the light color Evening Sun. There are instructions that come with the clock that tell you where to touch for adjusting the volume and light, how the two Rest/Rise buttons at the top work, and how to set up the clock within the app. It took about 10 minutes for my clock to connect and register/update, so don’t be worried if it takes awhile. Not only is this an aesthetic clock, but it’s also a sound machine, an alarm, and a curated sunrise. The ability to have a different alarm schedule is a huge bonus as well, especially if you have a differing morning routine depending on the day. Honestly, the price could definitely be lower ($170), but I believe it’s just about worth it over other options. !!! Update: I’ve had the Restore 2 for a year now (Oct ‘25) and had some sound issues for awhile, so I contacted support. The sleep sound that I rely on every night (brown noise) was cutting out after a few minutes and Hatch’s customer support was super kind and gracious. I was provided a replacement power cord and after the sound issue remained, eventually a replacement clock. Since they stopped making the Restore 2, I was genuinely surprised that I was given a free replacement/upgrade to the Restore 3! The only downside to the new model I noticed is that the Restore 3 is a bit taller and doesn’t have the easy touch options on the face. The light adjustment is now on the right top edge, they’re invisible touch sensors that are hard to manage (photo with my finger showing where the sensors are). The light button on the right side also only has one setting of a warm white at about 60 brightness (shown in photo with the water bottle), which I think is a bit too bright. Regardless, the Hatch team is amazing and they really care about their customers!!

So I got myself this fancy alarm clock. It's the nicest one I've ever owned. Compared to the rectangular, button-filled, segmented-display of my previous alarm clocks, the Hatch looks positively beautiful. At a glance, it feels more like decoration than appliance. It's also really easy to set up. I typically prefer my devices to be configurable without external apps, but I'm also tired of fiddling with alarm clocks. I find that just configuring the Hatch setup in an app is preferable to the click-click-clicking on my older alarm clocks. App-based configuration also means that the Hatch only has a handful of buttons on the device. The most prominent are two, large buttons on the top that server as the "start" and "stop" functions. They're large enough to accommodate location even in my sleep-addled sleep. That design feels appropriate and well thought through. The sleep features are nice. I like to sleep with my windows open when I can, so the white noise features help when the nights are loud with random noises. I didn't previously do anything to mask background noises when I sleep, but I can see the appeal. The library of sounds helped me find something that wasn't distracting and it certainly dulled the various chirps, squeals, and sirens that happen at night. Okay, so it's pretty and combines white noise and alarm clock features in a better user experience than I'm accustomed. That's nice and deserves an appropriate review. But then it went beyond my expectation. It changed my sleep behavior! I am (was?) one of those people who was most recently using their phone as their alarm clock. I'd set two alarms because I often sleepily slapped the Snooze on the first (or cancelled it outright) and wanted some guarantee that I'd get up on time. In retrospect, this feels like an obvious dysfunction. Since I got my Hatch, I've been using it as my primary alarm clock. I still keep my phone's alarm as a backup, but I don't think I need it anymore. I find that I'm waking up *with* my primary alarm and, sometimes, even just before it. I'm turning off my second alarm before it sounds. I also feel like I'm less startled when waking. It feels gentler. Even though my phone has a slowly crescendoing alarm, I often felt like I was rousing to a klaxon. With the light and the smooth audio, I feel like I'm being coaxed awake by the Hatch. I feel like I'm going to sleep more easily and waking up more readily. While everything about it is top notch, I feel like that's my ultimate assessment of the Hatch Restore 2. It's more than a nice-looking alarm clock. It's changed how I get into and out of bed each day. If it can do that then it's five stars from me.

Many great things to say about the Hatch, but for starters, it was easy to setup. It took me less than five minutes to read the simple 3 sentence instructions. Download the Hatch app, create my alarms, and sync the Hatch to my wifi. I used to struggle with going to bed with my phone right next to me, always checking email, texts, and making sure my alarms were set on my phone. But, since I got the Hatch Restore 3, it’s been better. I can actually leave my phone charging away from my bed, and I don’t have to worry about not hearing my alarm or not waking up. It’s been a relief to not have that distraction right before bed, and I can just rely on the alarm on the Hatch to wake me up. Waking up has been a night and day experience as well. I used to jump out of bed half awake to turn off my alarm on my iphone, hit the snooze button and go back to bed, be late to my first obligation in the morning. But, now since having my Hatch 3, I've experienced waking up a minute before my alarm as the light slowly gets brighter on the Hatch and then begins to play peaceful bird chirping and nature sounds to fully wake me up. It’s far more peaceful, and I’m much more awake when I get up, and I don’t end up falling back asleep like I used to. The best part is I’ve been on time to everything since purchasing the alarm clock. I used to always rush, running late and starting my day a little stressed. But since I’ve been using the Hatch, I’ve been waking up on time and actually getting out of bed without the usual scramble. I’m more relaxed, I’m getting up at 6:30 AM most weekdays, and I’m just more content starting my day. Thank you Hatch Team for creating a reliable and great product!
