Face it, a kettle is a kettle. You want it to boil water and that’s what this one does ... and does it well. It’s powerful enough to boil the water quickly, so you’ll never have to wait too long for your “cuppa”. It has an effective no-drip spout so you don’t have to mop up your countertop and a very wide opening which will make cleaning easy as the calcium inevitably builds up over time. The connection between kettle and stand is also well designed. No more moving the kettle around to locate the “socket” with the “plug” .... unlike my previous one. These two parts seem to almost automatically locate each other, (I know they don’t really ... it just feels that way!!) Finally, what makes this so cool is the LED lights within the glass body of the kettle. Interesting when you first turn it on - but just wait until the water starts boiling! It produces an epic effect, (try it with the kitchen lights off!!) and I can foresee many a Pandemic Lock Down hour used up in this way!! Though I’m now 67, I suspect some “medicinal edibles” may make it even better!!! 🤣😂🤣 So, from a practical point of view I highly rate this kettle and, from an aesthetic perspective I think I can finally toss out my old Lava Lamp!! ... show more

I would have loved an oval-shaped kettle, but they don't seem to make them. I did a time test with this Hamilton Beach another kettle and this one boiled the water 2 minutes faster. (It also cost 10 dollars more) Higher watts, faster boil. This is my first electric kettle and I like it. The only con is the cord is not retracted but rather it wraps around the underside of the base. so you don't get the length of cord you want 'exactly', but it's not a big deal. It does what I want. Fast boil. Then it shuts off immediately. Update: I can't believe this product went up so much in price! When I clicked "Buy it Again" the price was $43.00. I only paid $29.00. I'd wait to see if it goes down again. ALSO, some people commented that this kettle continues to boil and not click off automatically. (Dangerous!) I thought I had the same issue today. However, I was wrong. Even though I had the lid down, it was not clicked down into place. As soon as I did that, it turned off. Make sure you click the lid until it snaps shut. I still love my kettle!! ... show more

I had a Hamilton Beach kettle for just a few years and the safety turn off stopped working. I decided it was time for another and chose this one. I noticed right away that the safety did not work. There was a piece of paper stuck in it reminding you that you need to fill to the MIN line for it to work. I filled it up several times well over the line including almost to the top. The water boils like Chernobyl ready to explode and it did not turn off. I let an entire kettle run dry and still no shut off. I thought I had a bad one so returned for same to Amazon. The next day my new one does exactly the same thing ! Kettle to the line, half full, then full and it boils for an hour. These should be recalled and not sold. I'm switching brands never to buy anything Hamilton Beach again. It's just not safe. ... show more

Worked great for a few months, loved the speed of boiling and ease of product. UNTIL... it did not shut off on its own. Water boils up to top even when not filled to max line, plug to outlet super hot. Auto shut off not working is extremely dangerous, I'm getting rid of mine, not worth burning the house down for... ... show more

Hamilton Beach products have been a favorite of mine over some decades now, and I am always pleased with the quality for the price. This one just replaced a Farberware automatic kettle that lasted me 4 years. It has a pleasant design with the blue light to remind you it's on, and turns itself off quickly when rapid boiling begins. It is also easy to clean. They all seem to have the same features, so I will be looking at how long it will last me. ... show more

For many years, I have been using a stove-top kettle to boil water for my French press. Of course, the kettle has sentimental value, it was also often taking up valuable space on the stove-top. After a trip to the coast where the AirbNb host provided a similar electric kettle (similar means they provided one of the insulated kettles, not the cool glass version). This thing is awesome, sounds like a jet taking off while it is heating the water, but it gets you to a cup of coffee quickly. I have also been able to reclaim the use of all four stove-top burners when I am cooking, and this is like having a whole new kitchen. Good product, well built and performs as expected without fail. note - the auto shut-off feature isn't advertised on the included paperwork, and it doesn't shut-off until the boil is going full-tilt. ... show more

Wow, this is the kitchen gadget I didn't know I needed until I purchased it!!! Initially obtained to reduce my nighttime care routine ~ we have several "stray" kitties we care for and feed, and we allow them to use our garage as shelter...center it's sooo chilly we provide hot water bottles wrapped in bedding to keep them warm...the sounds they make as the warm blankets and bottles are delivered to each bed is heartwarming. They're so appreciative and they show it❤ Anyway, this gadget cut over an hour of heating and filling bottles time! Over an hour!!! Wow! So yes it's a godsend for that. ...but, in the 24 hours we've had it, we've discovered how handy it os...we didn't realize just how much hot or warm water we used! Cut some raw chicken and want to reuse the utensils for something else??? Just pour some boiling water over them, dry off and off you go! Have a beauty cast iron pan you want to scale bits off quickly, boiling water...quick scrub, wipe out and slight smear with coconut [or other variety] oil, fire up the heat and ready to go...almost tales longer to type my words than do the foregoing! Seriously, no more wasting water waiting for hot water out of the faucet! Just add water flip the switch and almost quicker than you think, hot water...aaaaaannnd it is auto shutoff after boiling!!! 30 to 90 seconds and off! Just buy it! Aficionados will want the one with temp control, but it's not necessary for 98% of things! ... show more
