Why does the screen display less than 20 Amps while charging? Is it defective? This is normal. The charger outputs max 20A only when the battery is low. As it fills, current automatically drops to prevent overheating. This smart protection extends battery life. Charger won't detect the battery or start charging? Your battery voltage might be too low to detect. Use Force Mode: Hold "MODE" for 6s (buzzer beeps), then hold "MODE" for 6s again. BE AWARE! THIS CHARGER WILL NOT ACTIVATE A LITHIUM BATTERY WHEN THE BMS HAS TURNED OFF! Aside from the above, it does work . Although instead of 10 amp charging rate, it appears to top out at 8.1 amps on a 24v battery.

If you are coding BMWs or other cars that draw high amperage during programming and similar, you will get a lot of use out of this. I like the look of my old Schumacher chargers, had them for several years before one died and the display became unreadable on the other, still charged. Maybe for throwaways but I wouldn't code a bimmer with it. I got this; little unit just charges and keeps it charged for as long as you need it to or until it's full then it shuts off. No more My 600-lb Life batteries because somebody forgot to turn the charger off when they clocked out. De sulfator function works. Testing it out on a few batteries I was going to drop off at AutoZone for store credit but they're holding charge now so I'm keeping em around for 12 volt fluid transfer pumps and other little stuff. Weakest point is it's not as stupidly built as the old shoemakers, which are stout, but also a lot more plastic. Minimize dropping and my estimate as of now is they're going to last a while.
