It's heavy, but works great!

I have a 12 foot tall bush that needs trimming a couple of times a year. In the past I've balanced on a 10 foot step ladder to accomplish the task, but knew there was always the possibility I could loose my balance and fall. So, I purchased the Greenworks 40V pole saw and hedge trimmer hoping to accomplish the trimming job safety. And, I was not disappointed. The hedge trimmer blades are sharp and cut right through the branches of the bush providing it with a great haircut. Being able to change the angle of the trimmer really helps as well. The one warning I have is when the pole is fully extended the hedge trimmer is pretty heavy, so it takes quite a bit of strength to handle. I'm a 70 year old who works out regularly and was able to get the job done, but had to take occasional breaks. However, in my opinion, a sore muscle or two, sure beats a broken neck from falling off of a ladder. Finally, I haven't tried the saw yet. But, I did try it to make sure it runs properly, which it does. Great Purchase! ... show more

I was impressed with the quality of this product. The chainsaw is well made and very sturdy. The hedge trimmer is heavier than I would like it to be, but workable. In order to get the right height you have to assemble extensions. My old electric pole chainsaw you just unscrewed the attachment and raise and lower to the height that you needed which to me was easier. The pole assembly is well made and not flimsy. Great value, hard working, no issues after 4 years of use

I bought this in 2022 and it's still going great, great enough that I went back through my order history to make sure I'd written a review for it. I hadn't, so here it is. It's worked exactly as specified for tree trimming. It'll cut through small to medium branches without issue. It also punches above its weight and I've used it to cut down larger branches and even a small tree trunk of about 10". It may get jammed on bigger cuts like the trunk, but just backing up and restarting the cut a few times annually get the job done. It also may be that I need to get a new chain... Only minor draw back is that chain oil does slowly drip out over time. I try to put in just enough to get the job done, and haven't quite figured out how best to store it so that the chain oil is less likely to drip out. The hedge trimmer also works great, I use it less, but every time I do it's easily handled the job I've thrown at it. Battery seems to be holding up ok 4 years later. ... show more

Long battery charge and charges quickly.

Battery charge lasts as long as I can trim in a day. Good power trimmer. I haven't use chain saw adapter yet but looks well made and good for larger branches.

breaks easily when using for tree trimming

this is an inexpensive trimmer that works okay but is not very durable. the handle has a great deal of stress on it when holding the trimmer overhead and mine cracked. I have tried to expoxy but is breaks again at the same place. if they could improve this and make sure the auto oil system works the trimmer would be a great buy. ... show more

Better than the 80v version

I ordered the 80V version first but didn't like it. The 40v poles fully separate. On the 80 v version the pieces were held together with a wire running the length of the poles so you couldn't separate the pieces. Also when you folded the metal rods up there was chafing and strain on the wire. I think the 40v is all around a better design. You can also remove a section on the 40v system to make it shorter something you can't do on the 80v. Power is more than adequate for most homeowners. I have just under a 1 acre property and the battery died (intermittent usage) just before finishing up the last tree (about 10 of them) . Would have made it all the way through if I had put the battery on the charge when I ran to the dump. All the trees were 30-60 feet in height. Hedge trimmer is the perfect complement to the pole saw. I couldn't have done the job without these tools. Get a tall manual pole saw as well. Probably saved me $600 hiring a professional. Used new motor oil for the bar lube and no problems. For the people complaining that this leaks... Are you serious? Just drain the small tank when you are done and wrap the pole saw in a rag, this isn't a kitchen appliance. Also I plan to weldup and wire a really long 10 or 12 foot extension with a separately purchased pole extension from green works for really tall branches. Made my job easy

So far so good, I've spent over an hour today, trimming back a trail that I have on my property. All small branches, but it only used half the battery. The only complaint that I have is that the chain bar oil reservoir is extremely small. You have to constantly refill it while using Other than that, it's made my job a whole lot easier ... show more
