Not sure why people said it was difficult to get the sand in it. It was easy. I bought four fifty-pound bags of play sand and just cut about 3 inches off the corners of the bags and worked the sand out of the bags and into the base. Just go slow and push the sand back with your hand when the hole gets full. Then after a full bag I stood it up so the sand fell to the bottom. After 4 bags I filled the remaining space with water. Caution! The base is extremely heavy! If you don't have it on a smooth concrete or asphalt surface you won't be able to move it without 2 or 3 strong men with strong backs. Ours is sitting on a concrete patio and I was about to slide it slowly into place by working it back and forth. Operates as advertised. ... show more

I've assembled several umbrellas over the years but this one was a breeze. Very well engineered. It's a pain to get the sand and the water in the base but that is not unusual. I scooped in 2, 50lb bags of sand on each side first then topped of the remaining space with water, which is described in the instructions (sand and water mix to equal or exceed 246lbs.). The molding deign of the plastic base is ingenious and unique. A great feature is it includes wheels to facilitate repositioning of the assembled unit. This is a well-thought-out feature and very useful. Be advised that the cross bar mounts for the base, which includes the wheels and axle are in the umbrella box, not the base box. The umbrella and the base ship separately. I have the 12 ft. version and it has very nice coverage in a compact, attractive profile. I highly recommend this unit. You will need a helper to pick up the assembled umbrella to slide it onto the post attached to the base, because it is heavy and awkward to maneuver. (at least for a 71-year old) But that will only take a few seconds to line up and secure. A great product with responsive customer service. ... show more

    • Excellent cantilever shade - But Tighten the bolts!

The Shade is sturdy and I really like way the cantilever system stays out of the way. Assembly. In general, it is straight forward. I do suggest using non-permanent Locktite on the threads to make sure they do not back off. The final part assembling by putting the umbrella into the base is a 2 man job. It is friggen heavy and awkward. I used a heavy duty ladder to balance the umbrella while slipping the assembly into the base. I do not recommend this! Also, I suggest you tighten all the bolts including the ones from the factory. 1 star removed because the main pin holding the umbrella to the cantilever arm (right at the top of the umbrella) came apart after 5 days. Fortunately, the string in the assembly was strong enough not to break. I found the screw on the ground and the pin in the pool. I was able to put it back together and used Locktite to make sure it doesn't back off again. Again, I recommend the product but check those screws and bolts. ... show more

Not your typical product review, but I'm never been overly conventional! Purchased a 12ft Napoli umbrella for our new house. Put it all together (easy to assemble and heavy/sturdy as all get-out!). It is beautiful and solid, but we came to realization that it simply wasn't going to work for us. Contacted Amazon and Grand Patio (the mfg) and explained my dilemma. Amazon was prompt with reply but said I had to deal with Grand Patio for return before refund would go through. That made me a little nervous, since Grand Patio is in China. They could not have been nicer or easier to deal with. Stayed in constant touch, accepted that I had put it together and disassembled it, and helped me figure out best return option. In the end, I was able to package the parts as best as I could and return them to their East Coast distribution center AT NO SHIPPING COST TO ME. I really wish the product was better suited to my particular space because I want to support companies like this. Long and short, you can purchase from this company with confidence in the product and assurance in the customer support. :) ... show more

We just put this together to go over our spa to protect from the Florida sun! Easy assembly, took about an hour with 2 people. Good quality and love how it is adjustable.

    • Nice umbrella, horrible umbrella base!

The umbrella is very nice and I have no complaints about it. But, the umbrella base arrived with a giant crack in it and it never help water above the half full mark. I needed it for a party in the beginning of June, so I never contacted the company about a replacement as I would not be able to return it immediately. I may try to repair it with some JB Weld or something, but for now, it has a large concrete block weighing it down. Update 09/18/2023 - I received a follow up message from the seller here on Amazon and they are sending me a new base. Let me be clear, I did not contact them about the defective base. They proactively reached out to me based on my comments in my review. To me, that is exceptional customer service. I was willing to live with it and try to repair it, but they made it right. So, in my opinion, the service received here is excellent! I do love this umbrella and I am ecstatic that I will be able to utilize it properly now. No more ugly large concrete block holding it down, Yeah! ... show more
