disclaimer, i just received these knives a few hours ago so i do not have extensive experience with them to speak on longevity or durability. pros: - appears well made - im not familiar with what a knife set should cost, but with the few hours ive owned these i am impressed with the purchase at this price point - the little knife cut thru lemons, limes and an orange with little effort. pretty sharp blades cons: - Damascus styling is very faint and you have to look hard to notice it, but overall the dark color blades are a nice touch imo ... show more

This is a decent set of black non-stick coated knifes with varying sharpness. The non-stick black coating is made very well. It is beautiful and smooth. The magnetic strip and the bread knife are very nice as well. However, the sharpness of these knifes varies, from very sharp to dull. I guess it is not a problem of sharpness retention and rather an inconsistent workmanship, because some regions are very sharp and some not. The santoku knife is super sharp throughout the length of the blade, but only a portion of the chef knife and the utility knife are very sharp. These two are both dull at the front 1/3 near the tip. The carving knife and small paring knife are not very sharp. These are good for people doesn’t need a very sharp knife. For those need sharp knife, we can spend some time to sharpen the dull regions and make these knifes an excellent set. ... show more

For the price, these knives are a great value. They are very sharp and easy to touch up with a steel. The grips are not to be confused with higher grade knives, but for the price they do cut and slice well.
