This does a good job and has a nice soothing tight bass. I'm setting it up in the pool zone and fills the area great. Make sure you get a suitable amp since the sensitivity is at 80db it doesnt get as "loud" as you think it would. I'm using a crown audio xls1002 and in the front patio zone another one drives a Bose pro dual 10" sub and with all settings equal, you can definitely tell the difference. The speaker specs are basically the same for the 2 subs, except the Bose sensitivity is 90db. Overall, this is a great purchase and I'm very happy with it. ... show more

Ok, so the first 12" Premium sub that I ordered arrived already blown/defective, so...dig up the 1st one, and find another huge box to return it in, then...received the second one, and it worked as awesomely as expected...for all of 6 hours...now, nothing, no sound at all (...and yes, I checked the wire to it, and the amp still works also). Getting really tired of playing buried treasure in my backyard with this nonsense. For $400, I expect it to work the first time...every time. Could the third one be any better, or worse?...only time (and yet another return) will tell. Update - I had contacted customer service asking them to send me a new, 3rd replacement subwoofer so I could also use that box to return the 2nd defective subwoofer they sent me. Their ridiculous response was, "they don't send new unit until they receive old unit". For such a unique design and large size subwoofer, finding a box to fit this thing to return is not easy...and why isn't it possible to tell me if I don't return the old one in a time frame of their choice (say, 30 days) they would charge me the $400.00 again for the new 3rd subwoofer??? But, nope...haven't seen an email or heard a peep out of them in the past 8 months, I disputed the charge with my credit card company, and replaced the crap factory speaker that these subwoofers come with and haven't looked back. Can't keep wasting time with their poor excuse for customer service. Bottom line - the enclosure is great to hide a sub in your yard/landscaping, just save yourself the hassle and replace the sub speaker with a more robust/better quality one before you bury it, so you don't end up re-enacting Blackbeard digging up his treasure when their "Chinesium" speaker fails. ... show more

Sub comes with 4 wires. 2 wires are for 8ohm setup and the other two are for 70v setup. Instructions are not clear about this and it took me hours of youtubing to try and get an idea of what the other wires were. Didn’t find anything helpful. I had to get a volt meter and OHM it out and had to wait till Monday to get tech support on the phone to confirm it was correct. Once I hooked it up it sounded good but needed to adjust the amp settings. I got the recommended SMP1000 amp. After I tuned it I definitely have a much better sound system. I have it set to the half way point and it sounds deep enough where it is clear that the sound can’t be coming from the overhead speakers. I would compare the bass level to a car audio system. It’s a clean sound and deep enough to feel it. Doesn’t take my breath away kinda bass but that’s not what I’m after. I’ve had it for a few weeks and like it so far. Down side I did try to crank it to Max and then the sub cut off. I haven’t tried since but I’m assuming it’s a amp setting to protect the sub from incorrect settings or too much power etc. Other downside is the instructions are minimal on the wiring. Trying to figure out if it’s wired correctly had me upset and wanting to return it because I saw other comments that they got the wrong type of sub. Just completed our redwood deck and outdoor movie setup. This underground sub was recommended to us and is well worth the money. Although not super high-end, it definitely helps to bring the fullness to complete our 2.1 channel system. It has just enough but so much more for parties and BBQ’s. I would recommend this sub if you are looking to have a minimal approach for an outdoor sub. *Bonus, we have already had some serious downpours of rain and this unit has not been affected at all. ... show more

This sub is better than I thought it might be. It has rich bass that compliments my Polk Atrium 4 speakers nicely. After reading several reviews of water getting in - I voided the warranty straight off. I could see air gaps at the seam of the case where the silicone had not fully seeped out. I pulled it apart and added more silicon. After the silicon was dry I did several layers of gorilla tape on the seam to ensure water does not get in. I buried it according to my liking. I am using a 500 watt plate amp from a pro audio sub that I am no longer using. I have it running about 250 watts and it is plenty loud. Highly recommend- sounds great - not sure the longevity yet - it has only been a week. ... show more

This thing sounds great! Based on the specs and the box that the speaker is mounted in, I knew it would be a good option. It surpassed my expectations! I have 4 AW6500 Definitive Technology speakers, which are some of the best you can get; they produce excellent bass, but this subwoofer really helps with the really deep notes. I looked everywhere for reviews before I made this purchase, and couldn’t find anything. I’m glad I went with my gut on this one. I couldn’t be happier with the product quality and cost.
