We were away for a few weeks, when we got back home we found our refrigerator had been off for some time and had to throw everything out, it was a stinky mess. After replacing the faulty breaker, we were still a bit wary of leaving the house again. We found the answer with the GoveeLife wifi thermometer, we can check the temperature from anywhere, if it does shut down, it sends a notification to our phone if it gets too warm in the refrigerator, just the reassurance we need when we're out! We have the sensor in the freezer, but you can put it in the refrigerator also! It's also very thoughtfully made, the display is magnetic so it sticks right to the outside of the refrigerator! ... show more

I want to love this thermometer alarm. I purchased the 2 pack to monitor our refrigerator and freezer temperatures due to a recent fridge-fail, if a repeat incident happens, it is my hope that this will alert us before foods leave the "safe zone" long enough to spoil. The fridge is monitoring nicely. We receive alerts when the temperature goes out of the range I have set for it. This so far means I see when someone stands there with the door open making a decision. Ha! It alerts in real time. Its connected by wifi, allowing me to monitor temps even when I am away from home. The freezer is also monitoring nicely, however it shows it consistently "out of range" and alerts me often that it is "out of range." Out of range includes any temperature of below 4*f, which means that I'm receiving alerts all day long letting me know my freezer is indeed cold. The first paragraph of the product page says, "Continuous Updates: We have fixed the problem of frequent low temperature alarms. There will be no false alarm when low temperatures (<-4°F) are detected during normal operation of the freezers compressor. The software usage experience will be continuously optimized." This is not the case on the product I have received. I have checked for product firmware updates and none are available at this time for my purchase. I am open to receiving support from the company, however I was not able to find contact information to reach out for this particular issue. If this issue is resolved, I will be inclined raise the current three star rating to a higher rating. ... show more

This thermometer works well and was easy to setup and so far, after about one week, all is well. It still has the lower alarm limit of -4 Farenhiet which seems silly on the developers part, however, I was able to adjust my freezer settings to be at about -1 so this isn't an issue for me.

Why can't the manufacturers update the software so the operating range goes down to -40F, the same as the probe range. My freezer's normal operating temp is -11F but your device alarms ay -4F & I cannot change that. Everything else about this device is great.

    • Not recommended for monitoring your freezer

This is a mostly great product, with one fatal flaw for freezer monitoring - despite the company being aware of this problem, they stubbornly refuse to fix the lower monitoring limit of -4 degrees (F). It works GREAT for a refrigerator! I've set my acceptable limits to between 28-40 degrees, and this device will alert me if it goes out of that range (without over-alerting in the case of a false alarm - e.g. someone taking a minute or two to decide what they want with the door open). It appears to be recording temperatures on a minute-by-minute basis, and I can view a temperature history in the app at any point with interactive charts. Unfortunately, it's mostly useless for freezers. Despite the product description that advertises an operating range of -40°, their SOFTWARE will only allow you to set a bottom range for alerts at -4°. It is completely normal for freezers to be below this temperature. This product has no trouble RECORDING these temperatures (I can clearly see that mine operates in a range of 0 degrees and -6 degrees), YOU CANNOT ENABLE ALERTS FOR YOUR FREEZER at any temperature lower than -4, and you can't choose to be alerted to an upper limit without also selecting a lower limit. This means that I'll receive temperature alerts for my freezer literally EVERY 30 MINUTES as it goes below -4 degrees. That's just not acceptable or useful, and I have to have freezer alerts turned off, so I will never be proactively notified of my freezer getting too warm. This is such a simple software fix, but as of late January 2024 (despite what it says in the product description), it has still not been fixed. I will be keeping a sharp eye out for any updates, and I will promptly update this review when I confirm that the product is usable for freezers. ... show more
