Update: its been over 6 months and its still great. I thought I'd share that shortly after my review, I switched to using an aftermarket rj11 to usb-c cord, as I needed more usb ports and switched to a 12v usb adapter (and only one 12v/cigarette lighter port). I've noticed people having issues when switching over to a set-up like this, and they either blame the cable, or the device itself. The first 12v adapter i got, while it was highly rated, it was only 90w. It wasn't enough power to start both my dash cam and radar detector at the same time when I started the car. I'd have to unplug the radar detector, then plug back in, for it to power on. It functioned properly, it was just the initial powering on that was affected. If I left the dash cam unplugged and started the car with only the radar detector plugged in, it powered on as normal. That led me to believe there just wasn't enough power going to it at startup, due to other devices pulling power as well, and I was right. I switched to a 3 port, 230w adapter (from here on amazon, it has 2 usb-c ports, and 1 usb-a port), and its been perfect ever since. No functionality issues whatsoever. For reference, I have this radar detector, dash cam, and a wireless charger plugged into it (usb-a). Hope this update helps!! ---------------------- Great radar detector! Its reliable, durable, can hear it over loud music. I also have my dash cam plugged into the usb port of its power cord, and both devices work perfectly sharing the power source. Only time this radar detector doesn't work is when going thru this one area while on the highway, a certain police unit turns their radars off and clocks people!! 😂😒 There have been SEVERAL times the Ka band was going off and I'm looking like "where is this cop" for what seems like a while, and eventually I see them. Definitely long enough range for a suitable warning!! And it sure does pick up everything: speed cameras, those speed radar signs, traffic light cameras, etc. It's really easy to hit "mute" for these things, and it automatically does a "mute memory" so u don't have to listen to it every time passing the same spot. It is also easy to remove mute memory by hitting "mute" again the next time you pass the same spot. I was actually intimidated by the manual and all the settings at first. However, I've left it on the default "highway" and it's all good. All I ever needed to touch is volume buttons and mute/dim button, which were easy enough to learn just by simply pressing them. And also going into menu to set up wifi/bt if u install the app, which wasn't that bad, just a lot of scrolling to the actual setting. Another note, for first time radar detector users, if you get hit with the "laser," that's not a warning, its a statement. Yep, I got that statement, more than once. I was lucky to be going just 80 the first time, and remembered the area when passing thru again. (Watch out in some areas of GA!) I live in FL and travel the entire southeast for work, so far I've only seen "laser" on I-475 (I think it was). Hope this helps!

The quality of this radar detector is very accurate, the features are awesome Hasn’t let me down yet, it is very sensitive, I love how you can change the brightness of the color and it is very reliable.I have dropped it several times and it’s fell off my windshield a couple times and never has broken. I like how you can go in your phone and change the settings and you can change it from professional mode to standard mode. I highly recommend.

Ridiculously pleased here...this thing has incredible range and once you have driven around enough, it learns where the false signals are and just gets quiet... almost scary quiet. Like any tool, you will need to do some experimenting and learn how to use it. I HIGHLY recommend checking out vortexradar website, they not only link to here but also give A LOT of techy info on how to properly set this unit up, including frequencies and ranges you can safely block to weed out blind spot radar on passing cars. There is simply so much this thing does that even an expert needs their guide on what to turn on and off, depending on your location and what type of radar is used where you are (they provide that info as well). Quality unit, no false alarms after driving with it a while, everything about this thing is awesome once you are used to it.

I recently purchased the Uniden RW4 radar detector to replace my over 10-year-old Escort model, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The setup was straightforward, and the device’s features are extensive enough to keep me exploring its capabilities for a while. The RW4 delivers exceptional performance, with advanced filtering and long-range detection that surpasses my expectations. The only minor issue I encountered was registering the radar detector on Uniden’s website. The RW4 isn’t listed yet, so I had to register it as an R4 instead. While this was slightly inconvenient, it didn’t detract from the overall experience. Overall, the RW4 is a fantastic upgrade and well worth the investment. Highly recommended!

Incredible. Blown away by the performance. Paid for itself already. If you are on the fence about investing a little more to get away from the cheaper brands, go here. I absolutely LOVE this detector. Comes great out the box but if you really wanna optimize the performance, vortex radar has you covered. Adjust to his recommended settings.

When first using this product it appeared that the red light camera warning was not working. Tech support was no help at all. I have since discovered that it works just fine. Thus, I am deducting one star due to inadequate tech support.

This things works amazingly and is also very easy to set up (took like 2 minutes including the cleaning of window), also heard it’s better then the r7 that’s has arrows due to the r4w having a longer range. Although the r7 does have 360 range detection (with the arrow also) I have haven’t found myself needing to worry (as i look in in my rear view mirror doing a pull…).I have it set to highway mode due to the many trees I have in my area and gives me a 30 second warning minimum in dense areas (although on the highway I have not tired it since I have had no chance to take it on the highway but I expect it to work phenomenal for the highway, with more anticipation when the radar comes on).There was one incident where a officer that was coming out of a neighborhood that did not respond to my detector at all (i think they must have not had their radar off and only happen one time and looked like the office was looking at a laptop ngl) and multiple incidents were I have had ka band warn me in dense areas in highway mode from left, front or right of me with and gave me 30 second warning minimum. Definitely saved me from some ticket lol.
