Loathe spending $100 for a hose reel- but this takes the least amount of space and no rust and it winds hose smoothly and very easily. Has a really nice leader hose too -both ends brass and sleeves to prevent kinks. Well thought out design. Doesn’t move around when winding the hose. No leak connections. I recently needed to replace our backyard hose reel. The one we had was cracked and wobbly. Since we don’t really need one on wheels, I was curious about this model of the Gorilla line of hose reels. They are pricey compared to the plastic ones you can pick up anywhere, but this thing is solid as a rock. When unwinding or reeling the hose back in, the Gorilla doesn’t wiggle or move out of place. It is lower to the ground than some other ones but that is not a big deal unless you would have back issues. It was not especially difficult to assemble; if you’ve had some experience following directions and assembling things it will not be a problem. All of the bolts and even a couple of extra ones were included as well as the hex tool needed, and the holes lined up perfectly with each other. I expect this hose reel to last for many years, even in the South Louisiana heat. ... show more

Because I live on a farm, we have lots of animals and buy nice big hoses. This will easily take a heavy duty 5/8 inch 100 foot hose. Now rolling the hose up is fast because the reel is stronger than the hose. Others I’ve purchased in the past, the hose would’ve eventually wear out the wheel. The hose reel is well built. Not too bad to assemble. It's not easily moved unless you have good strength to pick it up and carry it along. Don't forget you're going to have a hose wrapped around it and the reel will be heavy and cumbersome. It is somewhat unstable while winding the drum until some hose wrap is established. So. you'll have to steady it a little. I have a big yard and I have to move the reel from one end of the house to the other. If your going to move it much, then get one with wheels. I couldn't tell the quality from the description and wondered if this would be a good purchase due to some of the comments in the reviews. I took a chance and ordered it due to the fact that it was made out of aluminum instead of plastic. I had enough of the plastic ones- swore I wouldn't buy that again. I really like this reel. It went together nicely without the problems that some comments said they had. The hoses connected without leaking and without a problem. It rolled up my messy garden hose smoothly to the point where I shouted "All Right!" very enthusiastically. Problem solved. ... show more

1 of the 4 base/feet does not match the other 3 and thus does not sit flat on ground/floor. These parts are all factory assembled and riveted. Disappointing because the rest of the unit is actually decent. Nothing like rolling a hose with a wobbly reel! 😒
