After putting up my air hose reel in the shop it was pretty clear how nice it was not having to roll up the hose when done. Or trip over the hose when it doesn't get put away. We had the typical garden hose hanger on the side of the house. I hated having to wrap and unwrap the hose every time we wanted to use it. Didn't help that the gazebo post on our patio ended up blocking the hose hanger making it more of a struggle. So I thought, "why not find an automatic reel for the garden hose?!" I knew I didn't want a hand reel unit. Been there, done that. Waste of money. Then I found this jewel. Mounted it and tested it out. Works beautifully and no leaks at the connections. Easily pulls out, locks quickly when you stop pulling, pull the hose to release tension and it automatically reels itself in. Easily swivels 180 degrees at the wall preventing any unnecessary strain on the wall mount. Came with a multi pattern spray nozzle which is a nice bonus, but it's not any better than any other sprayer. Although I will admit, the "fireman's" lever to engage the sprayer is kinda cool vs. having to squeeze a trigger. The real star however is the retractable hose reel. This is a game-changer. No more hauling heavy hoses. It is heavy, as expected, and takes 2 people to install, but worth it. The retractable mechanism take a few tries to get used to, but once you do, it wraps 100 feet of hose in a few seconds. Mine started leaking after 1 year (even though I did disconnect the water and drain the hose over the winter), when I contacted customer service w/ a video, they offered to send me a new one right away! I purchased this to use in our garden area. The set up was very easy and I very much enjoy the quality of the product. I wish that the roller made a bit more noise because as you walk away from it, you cannot hear the click and so you don’t always know if you have pulled it to the correct position to get it to lock into place. Sometimes I’ll pull it let go a little and that starts to snap away and I have to pull again and slowly try to find the right position where it locks. This is a problem that I don’t have in my garage for my retractable air hose and my retractable extension cord, because those have an audible clicking that I can hear even from a distance. Also, the hose is extremely thin walled. After a few weeks, it started to bubble because I left the water on and the pressure and the heat were just too much. It did rupture, but the company was great about sending me a brand new one once I sent them a picture of the damage. As a bonus, I was able to easily repair the broken hose on my own. I just cut off the damaged portion and used a hose clamp to put a new threaded end onto the hose and now I have 2 for the price of one. The replacement unit is quickly showing that it will fail the same way. So just beware that you need to be prepared to fix your own hose or you need to turn the water off after every use because the constant water pressure is too much for these cheap hoses. ... show more

I used symbols so as not to offend anyone in the title LOL but it is. BAD@SS. I started looking for a good water hose on amazon (stainless steel), and also thought I need a reel.... I thought how hard will it be to reel up a metal hose... Then Amazon (who knows me too well) recommended this product. For a reel, a 130ft hose and self retracting you cant find a better deal. It mounts right on the wall.... it folds up so not to be hanging out all the time... it comes with a sprayer... it comes with bolts and anchors and a template to mark your holes.... HOWEVER, the template kind of sucks or maybe its just me. I marked with the paper cut out template and the holes were a little too close to each other. I could have missed it but there isn't any recommendation on drill bit size, but thanks to another helpful review I found the info i needed .... Which btw is 1/2" ... show more

The retraction mechanism went bad BUT....Giraffe jumped on it and sent me a new one immediately based on 2 year warranty. Installation to side of house was not that easy. The anchors that are provided are plastic and cheap and as soon as you try and hammer them in, they break. Had to go to Home Depot and buy better metal anchors and screws. The screws provided say that you can use a Phillip's screw driver, but you can't and have to have a socket set to install. The hose does kink a little but nothing that I can't deal with. Much easier than just using a long regular hose that was a PIA to have to wind back up into pot, and it kinked as well.
