  • So easy to set up!
Color: Haze
I got rid of my Amazon Fire Stick (No offense Amazon, but that Firestick was doing too much, lagging, etc... and had to go!) and switched to this Google Streamer 4k instead!!! (...As I'm sure a lot of people are doing now!) This literally arrived overnight! I ordered it at like 6 pm, and then literally had this in my hands the next day at 11 am! Love the super fast shipping! I love my new Google Streamer! It was super easy to set up, and customize! I love how I was able to customize it exactly to my liking! Quick and easy! It connects to the internet easy with no problems! (ONE SUPER IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GOOGLE: The screen that keeps popping up about Gemini and then wont let me search for apps or do anything else, is really annoying! There is no way to get rid of it because it keeps popping up no matter what button you push or what you agree too! I did find a way around it for now, so I didnt take off a star! I do recommend Google listens to all the complaints about this issue, and fixes this glitch as soon as possible though!!! I can see a lot of people giving up and just returning this because of that!!!) It comes with a cute little remote that is so smooth and fits in my hand comfortably! Plus, it has a way to locate the remote if you loose it! I definitely appreciate that feature! Also, the remote was so easy to set up too! It can turn on/off my TV, and control the volume, so now I use it as my main remote! You can tell the Google Streamer unit itself is durable and high quality. It doesnt need batteries! It just needs a HDMI cord, and a place to plug it into the wall! Im getting way better picture, and sound, with this new Google streamer too! It may be in part because I got a super nice HDMI Cord, but this device is just so much better overall! This Google streamer is so much faster and smoother than my Firestick was! My firestick was always lagging and acting up, but this streamer is so much better! I don't have to worry about a frozen screen or lagging device/or stream! Overall, I am very happy that I made the switch! It's quick and easy to set up everything, it has clear picture and better sound, it doesn't lag or get frozen, and there are many great things about this that im loving! If anything changes after a while of using this, I will do my best to update about it here! ... show more

  • Excellent streaming device
Color: Haze
The Google TV Streamer 4K is an excellent streaming device with smooth performance and a very user-friendly interface. Setup was quick and easy, and the picture quality is sharp, vibrant, and clear when watching movies and shows in 4K. Apps load fast, and navigation feels responsive without lag. I also love how organized the Google TV interface is, making it simple to find content from different streaming services in one place. The voice remote works well for searching shows and controlling playback, and the overall design looks sleek and modern. Overall, this streamer delivers a great entertainment experience and is definitely worth it for anyone upgrading their home setup. ... show more

  • Great, but expensive
Color: Porcelain
If you have used a Chromecast before, you'll find this easy to setup, use, and enjoy the responsiveness. Is it worth double the price to avoid the slight hiccup? You be the judge. I say no but the Chromecast is discontinued so there isn't an option. It is faster and works just fine with my TV just like a Chromecast. I haven't had any issues with it and it makes my broken TV usable. I like it, but again it's just a faster Chromecast at least with the way I use it ... show more

  • Ditch your fire stick.
Color: Haze
I used Fire Stick products for over five years, and honestly, I finally got tired of the same issues over and over again. The performance was never great, the storage space was too limited, the processor always felt underpowered, and the overall experience slowly became more frustrating than useful. My 4K Max Fire Stick had started slowing down again after about four years of ownership, and at that point it was clear I needed to move on. What really pushed me away from Amazon was the direction they appear to be going with their operating system and how much control they want to keep over devices that customers already paid for. I do not like the idea of buying a product, owning it, and then having the manufacturer continue to lock things down or limit what I can do with it. At that point, what is the purpose of ownership if the company still controls the experience? After looking around for something better, I found the Google TV Streamer, and the product specs alone put it far ahead of the Fire Stick line. It has more storage, better performance, and everything integrates smoothly. After using it for several weeks, I cannot overstate how pleased I am with it. In fact, I am kicking myself for not ditching the Fire Stick lineup sooner. Amazon has definitely fallen behind. The combination of a weaker product, limited storage, sluggish performance, and a more restrictive user experience makes it feel like they are not really listening to consumers anymore. Say what you want about Google, but in this category, their product is clearly leaps and bounds ahead. I love the Google TV Streamer. It is faster, cleaner, smoother, and gives me a much better overall experience. Even if you want something like the Silk browser, you can sideload it or use another browser that fits your needs. Compared to the Fire Stick, I honestly do not see any real downsides. This was a major upgrade, and I wish I had made the switch sooner. ... show more

  • One of the top TV streamers on the market
Color: Haze
The Google TV Streamer 4K is fast, no-nonsense, and very reliable. Receives fairly regular updates, unlike most other TV streamers (like Firestick, Roku, etc.) that rarely if ever are updated. Not sure of the purpose of the 32GB of internal storage, haven't had to use it. The 1Gbps LAN port is a nice bonus...most streamers are Wifi-only and they're less reliable as a result. The Firestick is a failure...apps are getting banned on it left and right, so into the trash bin it goes. The Google Streamer has better app availability, and it's much faster and more responsive than other streamers I've used. Only docking a star because the Streamer 4K doesn't do 120Hz, then again none of them do. Also, Google Streamer 4K doesn't get along well when it's placed on a VLAN...poor network stack implementation. Most streamers and smart TVs don't function well on restrictive VLANs. ... show more

  • Highly recommend, great streaming device Highly recommend, great streaming device
Color: Haze
Absolutely love the Google TV Streamer 4K. Setup was effortless, the interface is super snappy, and 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Atmos looks and sounds fantastic. I also appreciate the extra storage for apps and the Ethernet port for rock‑solid streaming. The built‑in Google TV and smart home hub features make this the best all‑in‑one streaming box I’ve used. ... show more

  • Super fast and smooth TV streamer
Color: Haze
Setup was a breeze, including pairing the remote. Gave life back to a 10yo Samsung smart TV who's apps don't load or update anymore. Very good pictures, fast loading and switching live to apps and back. First media streamer that I have had with no lag. Has made cutting cable a pleasure. Plays a giant selection of live channels including some local news, and is so quick and easy to jump into apps. The Google TV menu is so easy to use, and connects to Google play to download any number of apps. The voice control (using Google Gemini) is very good, gets it right first time. Would have preferred a backlit remote for night time use but the remote is simple enough to get used to. Big plus is the Google TV remote contorl on your phone that you can pair with TV to give you additional controllers. ... show more

  • Chromecast w/Google TV 4K and Onn 4K Plus Google TV streamers are better for half the price
Color: Haze
This Google TV Streamer 4K is overprice for what it is and offers terrible audio quality on what is suppose to be an upgrade to the Chromecast w/google 4K which it isn't. The one big problem that this Google TV Streamer 4K has in common with the model it replaced, the Chromecast w/Google TV 4K, is that both of their remotes are oddly shaped and very slippery. I had to buy silicone cases for my Chromecast w/Google TV 4K remotes just so I could hold them securely in my hand. I bought the Google TV Streamer 4K in Haze as I hate the white box that clashes with all my black home theater gear in my rack. The Haze blends in much better. I have a very good Wi-Fi router with multiple external antennas so I didn't need the ethernet hook up. Would had been nice if this box would had an USB 3.0 port to watch movies or music but it doesn't offer that like high end streamers of other makers. I guess you can buy additional hubs to do this but what a hassle. The Google TV Streamer 4K does offer 3GB of Ram which is an improvement over other less expensive streamers but I honestly didn't notice it being any faster, maybe because of a lower performing processor? The Google TV Streamer 4K does offer 32 GB of storage, but honestly, I don't download that many apps off of the play store and I do use a lot of apps for both video and music! I don't see any advantages in my use as a Streamer over the older Chromecast w/Google TV 4K. In fact, the Chromecast w/Google TV 4K has 2 large advantages over the new Google TV Streamer 4K. The Chromecast first doesn't need the user to buy an additional HDMI 4K cable! Yes, the Google TV Streamer 4K does not come with it even at it's high cost. You have to buy the cable yourself so don't forget! The Biggest Problem is that this expensive new Google TV Streamer 4K doesn't have Audio Passthrough! What is even worse is that the Google TV Streamer 4K is using the new Dolby MAT which decodes all surround sound formats in the device itself and sends Dolby MAT Multichannel LPCM out to your Home Theater Receiver, Sound bar or television. The problem is this is NOT true Multichannel LPCM but "DOLBY MAT LPCM as the PCM is wrapped in a DOLBY MAT Container and is seen as a Dolby Audio Format by your receiver, sound bar or TV. The most current Home Theater Receivers and Sound Bars are not 100% compatible with it and must use their Dolby Surround Upmixer to decode the Dolby encoded LPCM. Receiver don't give any other option other than Stereo, Dolby Surround, or Multichannel Stereo . This is on current Denon, Yamaha, and Onkyo AV Receivers currently selling and up to date. When I tried using LPCM with my 2 Denon receivers, it was stereo LPCM from the Tidal Music App, somehow encoded to DOLBY MAT LPCM and the sound quality was TERRIBLE with rolled off Treble, Compressed Dynamics, and reduced bass punch. This is a known issue of DOLBY MAT and is widely stated on the internet. The only work around is to MANUALLY select Dolby Digital Plus for surround sound and Stereo PCM for music. With audio Passthrough of the older Chromecast w/Google TV 4K, you had none of these issues. Unfortunately Apple TV has the same with no manual output option and the Fire Stick 4K Max "Generation 2" is exactly as the the Google TV Streamer 4K. Fire Stick 4K Max "Generation 1" doesn't use Dolby MAT but does encode PCM to DD+. I do NOT like Fire TV in the least, and not a fan of anything Apple, Roku hardware is unreliable as is their warranties and support. So the only good Google TV devices are the very expensive NVidia Shield (but don't offer HDR10+ compatibility) or the Walmart ONN streamers. I replaced all my streamers with the ONN 4K Plus streamers which even includes a 4K HDMI cable. It unfortunately doesn't offer passthrough for PCM as the Fire Stick 4K Max "1st Generation" but you can manually select PCM for the Tidal App music listening. The very best Google TV streamer was the older Chromecast w/Google TV 4K but they are not sold anymore. They also are slower than the better ONN 4K Plus streamers and only have 8GB of storage compared to the ONN 4K Plus Boxes' 16GB, if that even matters. ... show more
