UPDATE: I’ve had this for 7 months now and it’s still in perfect condition. Trash diving is a thing of the past. Buy it! I’ve had this can for a month now. For reference, I own a 120lb Cane Corso, a 95Lb German Shepherd, and a 100lb+ Great Dane puppy. With our old 13-gallon plastic trash can, our Cane Corso was able to easily nudge off the lid and create absolute CHAOS whenever we left home. I spent hours searching for a bigger trash can that looked good but also would keep him out of the trash, and let me tell you.. this one is PERFECT! Not only are the dogs unable to nudge off the whole top part(it’s “locked” in place and has to be manually unhinged with both hands to open), but the lid sits in a groove so that you have to use the foot pedal to open it. You’d have to have a Great Dane or Irish Wolfhound that is A) tall enough to reach inside and B) smart enough to press and hold the foot pedal while getting trash out. My trash-eater is neither of those things, so this can is perfect for us. The second thing that I was worried about is the dogs caving this thing in with their massive whip-like tails, and I’m SO surprised that they have whipped it several times now with no dings or dents! This can is light and easy for me (a 100lb woman) to lift and move with no trash in it, and I can at least nudge it around even when it’s full of heavy trash. Last thing to note: it looks so nice in our kitchen!! The in-laws were visiting when it first arrived and said they thought I paid way more than $65 (on sale). I would’ve paid $90 no question. The bag tucks in on the inside, so it looks so much sleeker than our old can with the ugly bag hanging out several inches. We use Hefty Extra Strong 33 gallon bags, and they fit very well with a little extra space to close easily around the trash when it’s time to take it out. TLDR: Dogs can’t get in it, not easily dented, looks great without taking up space, worth the cash. GET IT!! You’ll thank me later :) ... show more

Overall, it looks great. It has a soft- close lid so no banging and keeps the dog out. I love the way the bag holder is designed. Wrap the edges around two hinged bars then lay them against the lid frame for a snug fit. I use standard 33 gallon trash bags and they work great. I chose this one with a foot pedal over the motion-sensor due to durability. I am not a bit sorry. I highly recommend! ... show more

    • Impressive trash can and company who makes it.

I bought this trash can looking for large capacity and durability; which it covered these two areas with ease. You can use any trash bag that is at least 20 gallons which is nice since the size is difficult to find where I live. The foot pedal for the lid works great and if you press it with just enough force it will stay up on its own (an unnecessary skill that I have acquired?). The bag stays firmly in place when the bag holders are used correctly. The steel is thick enough to keep everything contained but not so heavy that it is difficult to move. The strength is excellent because when my wife tells me that the garbage is full I just go and push it down with all of my might giving me almost 50% more room (most of the time) without any issues. Getting the bag out is a little bit cumbersome since the entire lid assembly doesn't open directly vertical; you just need to pull the bag towards the front of the can on the way out and you're good to go. Also, there is no vacuum issues when pulling the bag out like other cans since the bottom is not completely sealed. I highly recommend following the directions for this trash can when it comes to bag placement and removal since it uses the arms to hold the bag in place. Do not drape the bag directly over the can under the lid; this will just make the bag slide down and create an unnecessary mess. I bought this can in April 2020 and in December 2020 the upper lid hinge broke. How it broke or who broke it is unknown and so I was worried that the warranty wouldn't cover this problem. On December 22, 2020 I contacted Volume Brands International (who owns Glad) asking if this would be covered under warranty. A very nice lady replied and requested a photo of the broken hinge and my Amazon invoice. With no questions asked I received a new trash can on December 30, 2020. From when I first contacted the company to when I received the replacement it was 5 business days. Very impressive during the holiday season and a pandemic. All in all I highly recommend this product not just because of its quality, durability and size, but of the company that makes it and backs up the warranty. ... show more
