I seem to have a slight obsession with garden hoses. Not because I geek out over them, but because I seem to have picked a lot of bad, hybrid type hoses the past year. This is my fourth hose in the past year and is easily one of the better ones I've purchased. My biggest complaint with hybrid hoses are that they promise they won't kink and most of the time, the old school rubber or vinyl hoses are far superior and we all have a love/hate relationship with the kinks. With this hose, it really surprised me. It wasn't perfect, but aside from a couple of little issues, it doesn't kink. For this hose, I would attribute that to the thick, woven fabric on the exterior of the hose. It helps give it rigidity which helps prevent the hose from kinking. Here's a tip. The hose is far less likely to kink if you keep it energized. What I mean by that, is keep the water on (sprayer off) so the hose is full of pressurized water. That makes rolling it up a lot easier. Once all the water is drained out, it will absolutely try to kink on you as you roll it out or roll it up when you're finished. The brass attachment ends are a nice touch and ensure a good connection without needing to overtighten. I was able to get a dripless connection by hand-tightening. No wrenches required. The included sprayer is very typical of the sprayers most hoses come with and features a variety of spray options. It clicks between the spray options, so it has a nice tactile feedback. My only complaint about this hose is that it does have a little bit of memory, which most hoses and even electrical cords have. As you pull it out, or roll it back up, the hose will fight you a bit as it has that memory from being rolled up from the factory. All you need to do is roll it between your fingers as you roll it out/up and it will lay flat as you coil it. This becomes more of an issue as you are using it because there is no swivel connection to the sprayer. That is the one feature that honestly would elevate this to a much better hose option. Not sure why this was not considered as it's a really nice solution. We have three raised vegetable gardens and a large yard filled with potted plants, trees, shrubs and having a good hose on hand is essential. I'm hoping that as we head into summer, the warmer temperatures will help soften up those memory issues with the hose. Other than that, this is a easy recommendation. The feel of the hose with the texture cloth, the included sprayer, and the non-klnking feature all make this one stand out above the rest. I always read the reviews before buying on Amazon and like you, I appreciate honest, thoughtful reviews that help me make an informed decision. I hope you find this review helpful!

I have a few new hoses because I have a decent size lot with many garden areas and plants but no irrigation system other than rain or my watering. Of all the hoses I've ordered, this one has the best nozzle. I admit I was a bit disappointed when I first opened the package and saw the bottom of the nozzle first. I was thinking I ordered the wrong hose since I saw plastic and I was expecting to see metal ends on the hose. Then I noticed it was the nozzle and I was impressed with the weight and how easy the thumb lever is to control. That is very important to me because there are times I work so much at pulling weeds that my hands are cramped and stiff and have difficulty with nozzles but I didn't have that problem with this one even when I was so stiff I couldn't make a fist. The hose does have the brass plated fitting which easily connected to both the nozzle and my bib. I can't comment on how long the plating on aluminum will last compared to all brass but it didn't leak so for now I'm satisfied. The hose is lightweight and didn't seem to have any issues being pulled along the ground and no snags that I could see even though some of the plants here are a little grabby like nettle and some other weeds that have seeds that stay on clothes even through a full laundry wash & dry cycle but didn't see anything hooked on the hose. It fit nicely on my hose reel and wound up and also out with no issue.

Bought it specifically to have a hose that would not easily kink when I was dragging it across my yard to water my plants. Immediately kinked and no the little flip thing did not work lol

Our family has had good luck with Giraffe products over the years, and this is no exception. I was very pleased with the quality of the hose, and how it was so small and lightweight, and expanded from within when filled with water...yet it barely got any heavier! It is easy to move around the yard with to get to my flowers, plants and shrubs for watering. I'm not super-duper impressed with the nozzle, because it is all plastic, but I do really like that it has an easy-to-use gradual on/off control for the water. That is very nice. I think this is a very good product at a good price point, and I am pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a well-made, lightweight yard hose.

I bought this hose to place on a 4 wheeled Giraffe hose reel. I liked that Giraffe Tool Co. is an American company with well designed products. This hose was made in china and kinked so severely after mounted on the reel that water will not flow through the hose. I’m uncertain about the durability of this product. I’m searching for a kinkless extension to allow the hose to mount the reel properly.

I didn't get out a micrometer to measure but I don't believe this hose is 5/8" anywhere, anytime. It's skinny compared to a fabric hose hose that has a true 5/8" ID center tube. It doesn't flow like a 5/8" ID or OD but it doesn't do bad. It requires 2 minutes flat to complete my flow test which is filling a 14 gallon feed pan to overflowing. The multi layer hose I mention above completes the test in 1:41 while a true 5/8" ID x 100' old-timey hose will fill it in 1:17. Not sure what the "EXPANDABLE" means on the box it comes in. I did see a tiny bit of expansion when putting 65 psi to it. The color scheme is funny. It looks like a snake in the grass. It's cute but I hope nobody cuts the head off it by mistake. I'm not a fan of aluminum fittings regardless the color but the copper plate on these should prevent it from welding to brass. Regardless, don't leave it connected for years and hope to get it loose. All that said, it is a good hose. It has enough flow to run a pressure washer or a few sprinklers. It doesn't kink and it's quite easy to coil it small on the ground to get it out of the way. I see not reason it can't last for many years with proper care and precaution. I like it and recommend it.
