I was so tired of my hoes kinking up every time I try to use it to water the landscape. While this was more money than I wanted to spend I had hoped it would solve my problem It was easy to put together and I love that when you roll it up it automatically moves back and forth to evenly distribute the hose inside The handle does seem to fall off every time we use it but I just pop it back on. Arrived damaged with the carton intact. Best guess is that it was roughly handled in shipping. The manufacturer's customer service has been outstanding with a repair part being shipped. Otherwise the hose reel appears to be well made and seems it will last for years.

I can't comment on the durability yet but this reel the the heaviest that have owned. Very smooth operation to unwind and wind. It has sufficient weight that it does not move around while the hose is being deployed. So far I like it

I went to my local hardware store to replace my last plastic hose reel. The floor model was actually broken, so I went online and learned about the Giraffe metal hose reel. It arrived well packaged. The instructions were clear, and assembly was easy. What I appreciate most is the metal hose connections. My old plastic reel had cheap metal - maybe zinc - that fused to the hose ends. This thing is sturdy and well engineered. It wasn't excessively heavy, but I can pull the hose out completely without the box moving - without holding it down. Got this for my Sister. She has a spectacular floral and shrub garden! There is an irrigation system, but she still needs to manually water every 2-3 days. She loves the bronze finish and says it’s so much easier not having to untangle the hose each time! So happy she loves it!

Yes, it's expensive but it's worth every penny in my opinion. Buy it with THEIR 100ft 5/8" hose. The hose is great and works perfectly with the hose reel. Reeling in the hose couldn't be easier. Even with the entire hose out, it's still a breeze to reel it back in. The big plus, no holes drilled in your home for this. It sits on the ground and it's very sturdy since it's made of metal. The media could not be loaded. We were so excited when we bought the first one. Worked so well we bought a second one for the back of the house. In fact, we were so thrilled with these, I remember saying that it was so wonderful that a product worked so well. Until it didn't. For a $200 item, you would think it would work flawlessly, at least for a while. After a few months the hose guide started clicking and we noticed it wouldn't move across the shaft. So the hose would bunch up in one spot when reeling in, and eventually stick. So we need to manually pull it out and force the guide. Then it would bunch up coming out and tip over. Yes, this very heavy box would tip over! I contacted Giraffe tools customer support and they were helpful. I sent this video and they determined it was a defective hose guide. (Duh). So they offered to send two new hose guides since both were defective. That's when we found out they were made in China and the parts would be coming in a few weeks from China. So disappointing. I was looking at other Giraffe Tools products, but I think I'll pass now. ... show more

Missing screw. Description was accurate. Nice ball-bearing recoil system. But 1 of the 2 access panels was missing a screw/hinge. Did not return it...a simple 10/22 screw was the repair. Simply the fact that I had to do anything was disappointing. Other wise, very content with this purchase
