  • Dealer may be cheaper with a coupon
We have two of these — one for our 2018 Impreza wagon and another for our 2018 Outback. Both fit across the factory crossbars with no adjustments. Setup was painless and we have been pretty happy. These racks have survived — and so have our bikes — two cross country trips, including the 80 mph section of interstate 10 in Texas and daily trips to the bike path with no issues. Double check the pricing as your dealer may be cheaper. For example, we purchased one from here and another from the dealer with a 30% coupon — both came in the same packaging. We purchased a collapsing plastic step stool for around $10 from Amazon ... show more

  • Good product, Needs work
It fit nicely on top of my 2015 Subaru Forester, with cross racks installed. I got one, and liked it so much that the week after, I got another one- So that my Wife and I could go bike together at trails far from where we live. Issue was- when we drove way up into the Catskills and back, the end caps flew off. They were supposed to snap on, but very flimsy. I guess it was inevitable. To prevent the straps from flying off, I tied them tightly but unfortunately, one of the rear strap flew off. I wish the end caps could be screwed in, so that the loss of parts would not happen. Otherwise, the installation, the clamp that locks onto the bike itself, and the straps for the tires are great. Again, just needs work ... show more

  • Bike rack nightmare
The only thing that was negative about these is that it didn’t come with all the nuts, bolts and winged nuts and the straps that hold it down so I had to buy bungee cords and had to buy the nuts, bolts and winged nuts off the Thule website and wait a week for them to arrive. Oh and the end caps I had to replace because they come off so I had to order more through Thule and glue them on to keep them on. Otherwise easy to install if it had all the parts and you can’t find the straps anywhere so that’s why I had to get bungee cords. ... show more

  • This thing is fantastic, but make sure you mount it to the ...
This thing is fantastic, but make sure you mount it to the side rather than center or have a spotter or step stool to get the bike up. I'm tall with long arms and legs and a strong core so I did a center mount. If you mount it over a sunroof it's going to create wind noise, so that shouldn't be a complaint in the comments section. Easy to install and extremely secure. Drove from Maryland to Maine in wind and rain and my Harriet the Chariot stayed safe and sound. ... show more

  • Good for smaller road bikes, so-so at best for mountain.
Pros: Clean design, seems fairly well-made, folds compact. In between: Rails seem best suited to 2.3 tires and below, probably better for road bikes. Cons: Very difficult to align properly with lots of readjusting, grabbing mechanism finnicky on mine and never seemed to grab right, rocks a bit with an average mountain bike. Overall it seems like an okay rack, but it's a bit pricy compared to competition and seems more suited to smaller road bikes. ... show more

  • Solidly built bike carrier
This rooftop carrier is easy to install but make sure you can safely lift your bike onto the roof. Overall, it’s a solid product more than capable to hold your bike. Consider whether your mounting it on the aerodynamic crossbars or the more solid, industrial strength box cross bars. You may need to do a little work to get it solid on the aerodynamic crossbars. ... show more

  • Quality product, worth it.
I originally had a swagman roof carrier, but the quality from that one to the Thule is night and day. I started to to trust my last carrier with my new expensive mountain bike, and the bike being was expensive. I found it mismatched with such a cheap carrier. Immediately the stiffness of the Tule was noticed while driving over bumps, and dips on the road. I must say the best part and HIGHTLIGHT of the Thule is how easy it is to securely get your bike on the carrier. Installation was incredibly easy. hardware fit perfect of my subaru aero bars, no surprise there. Lastly it looks great! (1st pic is the Thule) (2nd pic is the Swagman) -not recommended ... show more

  • Works great, difficult to get bike loaded by yourself
This thing looks great on my 2017 Subaru Crosstrek and works as it should. However, it is a bit difficult to get a bicycle on it without the assistance of another individual. That is my only complaint of the product. If you’re contemplating ease of use, then perhaps another rack that requires removal of a tire may be easier to load a bike than this product. ... show more
