  • This Generac-7122-Power Washer can do the job
UPDATE September 2019: When reading the review below, consider that TWO YEARS LATER, NOW 2019 I am still impressed with this machine and would rate it 5 STAR! OK, used it a few more times, this item is GREAT! Can you forget my previous complaints? Generac SpeedWash 7122 3200 PSI 2.7 GPM 196cc Gas Powered Pressure Washer System with Attachments I bought a power washer after much research and some trepidation. The sticking points were price, of course, and the numerous negative reviews for just about any brand you might consider. Figuring there must be a few units that actually work as advertised, I bought a pretty well reviewed Generac-7122-Power Washer. Followed setup instructions meticulously, and it started and ran and cleaned well. Next day, for reasons I will never understand, I disconnected the spray gun from the pressure hose. I then noticed the O-ring on the high pressure hose was in two pieces. BROKE! After ONE connect/disconnect of the gun! I figured Generac may have included a couple free extra O-rings in the box, like back in the day. NOPE, LOL. And I defy anyone to find the correct O-ring size needed for replacement in the manual or in the parts list, or on Generac's web site. NADA! So after days of research to clean my driveway, here I sit, cursing at a machine that will soak me to the bone until I find the right O-ring. I bought one O-ring, but it was too big. Back to the store, bought another size… this time it's too small, and stores are closed, it is Sunday. UPDATE Monday 8/28/17: OK, Monday. Bought two more O-ring kits that looked about right. First one, annnnggghhh, not right. Second kit, $4.79, one of them WORKED. The other nine sizes in the bag, not right of course. Spraying driveway is good today FINALLY. UPDATE Tuesday 8/29/17: I might have rated this product HIGHER (now that it's finally working), but I still take a point away for the struggle I had to go through to get it working. Add to that, the price today is $90 LOWER than I paid a week ago, and Amazon says too bad for me. Get one at today's price: $449 minus $100 = $349. UPDATE Saturday 9/2/17: OK, used it a few more times, this item is GREAT! Can you forget my previous complaints? Some TIPS from what I've learned: 1) Bleed whatever hose/water supply you connect to the washer. The washer does NOT like air/bubbles in the hose, it only wants water. JUST before you connect the water supply to the washer, let the hose run until all air is purged (the hose stops spitting) --- it can take longer than you might think, I recommend 1 MINUTE of flow for every 100" of hose you're using. OTHERWISE the pump seems to cavitate and do nothing, probably BAD for it!! I was able to wash successfully with 500' of hose (400' of 3/4" plus 100' of 5/8") with 5 GPM at the faucet and 5 GPM at the end of 500'. 2) Don't over tighten the inlet hose to the washer, too tight might give you a leak --- back off a little! There is little room here for fingers here, I had to use a persuader to connect/disconnect the hose. 3) Finesse the choke when starting. My best results full choke for cold start, after 1 or 2 pulls move the choke lever a bit and pull again. 4) Grab both inlet and hi-pressure hoses and hold them NEAR the washer handle when you move the washer, to keep from running over/tangling the hoses under the wheels. UPDATE Monday 9/4/17: OK, my wife has read me the riot act for stripping some of the driveway seal off the driveway. I was using the RED Blast Pressure Nozzle to clean a few "tough" spots before having the driveway RE-sealed. It took the last seal layer OFF, down to the actual pavement. NO HARM, I said, but just BEWARE that the RED nozzle is a WEAPON! LOL Oh, while on the subject of nozzles, make sure the quick connect of the nozzle is COMPLETE, TIGHT, you can't pull it off. Otherwise the nozzle becomes a projectile that could do some damage! Hope I'm still happy after a year or two with this washer! ... show more

  • Effective gas pressure washer that does the job it was designed for
The Generac SpeedWash 7122 3200 PSI pressure washer does the job that it was designed for. I received my pressure washer yesterday. I had no trouble unboxing and assembling it. There also were no oil stains inside the box like some reviewers mentioned. After checking it over and taping the cleaner solution hose to the housing to prevent it from touching any hot engine parts, I filled the crankcase with the supplied oil. Then I attached the high pressure hose and a garden hose. After purging the hoses of air, turning the switch to the on position, and setting the choke, the engine started on the first pull. I pressure washed some siding that I had previously washed with my old electric washer before it conked out in order to warm the engine up. Then I stopped and started it just to see how easy it is to warm start. It took a few pulls to warm start it. I found that sometimes I have to choke it, and quickly unchoke it as soon as the engine starts when warm starting it. Once I had it running again I pressured washed by deck and the adjoining house siding. Then I turned the washer off and let it sit for a few hours. After a few hours I started it again and pressured washed my front porch, the front siding, and the sidewalk. Here are some observations and opinions based upon my experiences so far: 1. The engine started quickly when cold, but sometimes required more than one pull when hot. But my Honda lawn mower does the same thing. So, that might be typical of small engines. 2. The washer has a lot more power than my old electric washer, but I cannot say that it performed much better than my old washer on siding. One thing it did do that my old electric washer could not do is to clean the siding high up around the side vent near the roof. It has a lot more power spraying siding some distance away from the nozzle tip than my old electric washer ever did. That siding is too high to easily reach from a stepladder. I have to extend the washer gun upward with one arm to hit it. The siding up there now looks cleaner when viewed from the ground. 3. I do not think that the pressure washer engine is much louder than a typical lawn mower engine. Maybe it is a little louder, but not terribly so. Some reviewers complained of engine loudness, but it sounds like a typical small motor to me. 4. Mine does not vibrate excessively when resting on concrete like some reviewers said theirs did. So, it did not "walk" on my driveway. It stayed exactly in one place the whole time I pressure washed my porch, siding, and sidewalk. 5. I am not convinced that the power broom performs much better on concrete than just using the green nozzle with high power. I certainly don't think anyone should buy this model just for the power broom. 6. I agree with several reviewers that the garden hose connection is too close to the pressure hose connection on the pump. My thumb is bleeding from trying to unscrew the garden hose. It kept scraping the pressure hose connector. I might have to use pliers in the future to unscrew the garden hose to avoid scraping my knuckles. 7. I love the pressure adjustment on the spray gun. That is one of the greatest features I have seen on any gas pressure washer. It is a major selling point for this washer. 8. The 50 foot garden hose limitation means for me that I have had to buy a special garden hose just for this pressure washer. A home owner would have to have a small house and yard for a 50 foot hose to be adequate. I have two hoses (one on the side of my house and one in back), and they are both 75 foot. 9. I thought that the 30 foot high pressure hose that is standard on this washer would be adequate to use it to wash the siding that requires standing on my roof. It will clearly not be. So, I have ordered another 25 foot hose and a M22-to-M22 connector to extend the hose to 55 foot. So, buying accessories is already starting to kick up the cost of owning this washer. But I guess that would have been true any gas pressure washer. All-in-all, I am satisfied so far with this pressure washer. If anything bad crops up in the future, I will update this review. If there are no additional updates, that means that I am having no significant issues with the washer. ... show more

  • Great washer so far...with a couple of minor negatives.
I did a lot of research and reading of reviews before making this purchase and so far I think I made the right choice. I was looking to replace my old one that was starting to fail and at the same time get one with more power. First of all, I ordered this unit on Saturday morning and received it on Sunday morning the following day. (Must have been warehoused close by!) Assembly was simple enough and had the unit up and running in no time. It took about 6 pulls to get the unit started the first time. I put it to work immediately and proceeded to power wash about 1300 square feet of concrete which took about 3-4 hours. I used the highest pressure setting and it worked really well. I also tried the sweep that came with the unit and it worked just okay. If you just have minor dirt and grime, it works well. If you have mold spots and tough to remove stains, I suggest sticking with the standard spray nozzle. The only down sides so far are the starting and the fact that it doesn't have a throttle...it's all or nothing. If you follow the starting instructions and have the pump primed, it's kind of difficult to start because of the pressure in the system and you have to pull the trigger and release the pressure after every pull. (I really don't think my wife could start it.....bummer!) Other than these two negatives, I love this unit so far and am satisfied with the cleaning power it has. ... show more
