  • Saves so much time and effort versus a manual tiller.
This Gearpass cordless electric tiller / cultivator is great for tilling small to medium sized yards. We had to till our entire yard to attempt to grow grass. This made light work of the process. This has a 9" tilling width and a 6.6" depth. The handle is adjustable in length from 53.15" to 61", which is great for us as my husband is tall and I am short. The 600W brushless motor provides 360RPM power with strong torque to rip through our dry, compact soil. It runs cooler and longer than brushed motors, and has a longer life span. The tiller includes 2 batteries so you can always switch them out and keep working. The batteries take 2-3 hours to recharge. There is a safety button that must be engaged to start the motor, to prevent accidental starts. This tiller has been great. We started with a manual tiller and ended with this. After switching, I gave my manual tiller to a neighbor. Motorized is the way to go. ... show more

  • Good for SMALL Projects Only. Ample Power and Battery Life!
The media could not be loaded. Before going any further, it should be noted that expectations need to be tempered. The product listing's photo of the person using this cultivator one of several LONG rows in a LARGE garden in a LARGE field is a bit unrealistic. (The photo's caption is "Easy & Powerful Deep Tilling.) Personally, I think it's a bit misleading for naive shoppers. This tiller is for SMALL flower beds and SMALL garden plots around your home. I think most knowledgeable buyers will know & understand the limitations of a battery powered cultivator and will have proportional expectations, just like I did. So with that being understood, I think this cultivator is great for those smaller tasks. It was very easy to assemble right out of the box --there are minimal assembly instructions but things fit together just as you would expect. The instructions did not mention assembly of the "guard plate" above the tines although it basically fit in the place you would expect. My problem is that there was no mention of what screw or pin was used to secure that plate. I spent 20 minutes determining that it needed a threaded screw and perhaps a couple of washers. Since that didn't seem to be provided and there were no instructions mentioning a specific screw, I determined the thread size & length I needed (M4 diameter screw with a .7 mm thread pitch) and then used my own screw. Then later as I was cleaning things up I discovered the missing that screw fell out of the bottom of the packing box (under the flap so I never saw it. Problem solved -- the MFG had indeed supplied a 35mm length M4 .7 screw with a fixed wing nut head. I will say that the adjustable auxiliary handle will help prevent unnecessary strain for adjustments to suit users who have short/long arms or for short/tall users. I noticed that the steel tines are fairly solid and sturdy (as they should be.) One thing that caught my attention is the "always on" display which continually displays remaining battery power. My first thought was that this function might encourage faster battery depletion. I am happy to report that it has negligible effect. After depleting the battery to 89%, I left the unit stored outside for 2 days with below freezing temps at night and yet the battery percentage only dropped 1 percent! These two batteries appear to be good quality lithium-ion batteries that hold their charge well. The cultivator works well as long as your ground doesn't have a lot of embedded rocks, roots, etc. (Due to its light weight and battery power design it won't be able to power through rocks and roots etc. like a heavy gas powered tiller might be able to do, but that's not unexpected.) This tiller is PERFECT for our small garden plot (see video & photos) and flower beds -- it breaks up the soil quite well and quite loosely at the 6" depth advertised. Battery life appears EXCELLENT so far. As long as you understand the limitations of this type of cultivator, the GEARPASS 21V Cultivator works well! ... show more

  • Gets through the job
Pros: No More Cords or Gas: I was skeptical about a battery-powered tiller, but this thing is a beast. Being able to just pop in a battery and go without hauling a 50-foot extension cord or mixing fuel is a total game-changer for my backyard garden. Impressive Battery Life: It comes with two 4.0Ah batteries, which is huge. I can usually finish my entire raised bed layout and still have juice left in the second battery. Lightweight but Effective: At 360RPM, it really digs in. It handled my compacted spring soil much better than I expected. The 9-inch width is perfect for navigating between rows without destroying my existing plants. Great Build Quality: The 48 blades feel high-quality and haven't shown any signs of bending or rusting after several uses in damp soil. Cons: It’s powerful for its size, but if you’re trying to break ground on a literal rock-hard field of clay, you’ll need to take it slow. For standard garden maintenance and flower beds, it’s perfect. The Bottom Line: This is the perfect tool for the "weekend warrior" gardener. It’s quiet, easy to store, and powerful enough to make quick work of soil prep. If you’re tired of the maintenance of gas engines or the hassle of cords, this GEARPASS tiller is worth every penny. ... show more
