    • Excellent metal detector
I bought this as a backup for my ACE 350 and for my grandson to also use. I like the number readout and the discrimination. I have found more coins and several tokens with this detector. I am still getting use to the numebers and sounds. The coil protector is annoying because it collects a lot of debris on the top and inside which requires cleaning out while hunting I have dug a lot of pull tabs but then they are treasure to a friend. She saves them for her grandchildren's school. All and all This was a very good buy. Garrett does make quality detectors at a decent price for all types of hunters. ... show more

After watching several YouTube videos and using owners manual of Garrett 300 reviews, usage, etc. I followed setup instructions and tested and found only 2 issues. Headphones out of box not working. Machine makes a buzzing sound while shaking even while far away from any interferences. Updated info 6/3/19. After testing the replacement detector, problem was the Jack on the machine, not the headphones as previously thought. ... show more

    • Perfect for dry sand.
I was hoping for a detector I could use on the beach and leave in FL for our visits there. My fault was in being too eager and not doing my own research before hitting the purchase button. This is a very fine machine but does not have the multi frequency capabilities needed for hunting past the high tide mark. A nice man walking by, using a larger detector, helped me adjust my metal detector to it wasn’t as spastic at the watermark, and I did enjoy the hell out If it. I have a couple of Whites at home, one multi, one not, so you’d think I’d know better. Regardless, I’d buy this again in a heartbeat for dry sand and dirt digging. I miss it. ... show more

    • Lightweight, easy to use, and does the job it describes very well
I couldn't wait to get this out and test it, wow I was getting pings about every couple of steps, then I found out I was walking on fill dirt from road construction. However, that being said, while I may not have " struck it rich" this unit showed me it could do the job I paid for.

This detector is a great value for the beginner/intermediate metal hunter. I tested it with a dime, penny, and quarter and had some trouble finding the dime. The depth is a little off as well. The pointing feature works pretty well. I think with more practice maybe I'll get better but overall I'm still pleased with it. ... show more

Easy to learn on. This is my first metal detector I found numerouse coins on my first outing. Its light weight makes it comfortable for a long period of time. I live in gold country in N California so my next test will be the water proof coil in streams looking for gold nuggets.
